What uses are there for photoshop for editing morrowind?
Hir_Nesta
Texture making...
websoul
you use it for creating textures and skins for 3d models.

there is a photoshop plugin that lets you export to a file used by morrowind, i dont know the exact name of the file or the format it exports to.
maybe someone else can post that

So with photoshop i could make a green sword if i wanted to? Then load it up in TES construction edit the stats...then place it in the game? Are textures like meshes???
Geonox
nooo you have to make the texture first, then download a program called .nif texturer, which I strongly suggest for retexturing jobs instead of using 3D max. Then change the textures save it as a new nif file. Put the mesh in the mesh folder and the texture in the texture folder and then import the mesh in Tesc.
Btw textures are not like meshes, youre new to this modding thing right?
A texture is a picture which you put over the mesh to make it more interresting and give it more details. Every mesh has got a texture. A mesh is the 3D model.

LOL you lost me there geo smile.gif

You're thinking of the .dds conversion plugin found on the official site. But you don't need it, since Morrowind can use standart .tga files just fine.

that nif texturer
Geonox
dunnoh exactely try searching google happy.gif it's a very usefull program I'm using it also
wallernotsowelsh
just a little confirmation for little ol' me

A mesh is the thing you make which gives the shape? (like the grey pictures shown to us?)

And a texture is the thing that add details? ( like the pictures we see of coloured model (the arrows from a while back come to mind) are textured meshes?)
Peregrine
Exactly. The mesh is the physical structure of the item, as defined by points and surfaces in 3d space. The texture is the "paint" added on top of the mesh.

Geonox

Jasay
hmm yeah, Geonox what program have you used to make your Darhjiin race ?? Or can you tell me were i can get a FREE program to do it ?? blink.gif
Geonox
Well I've made the dahrjiin race with Milkshape and 3d max. Milkshape is a free 30 days trial, 3d max not free. I've used Milkshape to model the mesh and 3d max to animate the head. I've used photoshop to create the textures. happy.gif You can get an free version of 3d max called Gmax, but it doesn't supports the nif export plugin. And I don't know if you can animate it.

Click the More Tools and Utilities link in my signature. In fact, click every link in my signature.

As Peregrine once said, the only thing GMAX has going for it is that it's free.
