Maybe in the Shire. It seems the only logical place for people to take vacations [from it, not to it.] Everywhere else, only in case of celeberation, in which case, you should be there as well.

If there was celebration, you'd think the NPCs would be gathering somewhere to celebrate (ala Bilbo's Birthday).
Is anything like this ever going to happen?
PS. Excuse the thread-hijacking, but can someone (suz!) elaborate more on NPC "schedules"? Will enemies like orcs have schedules?

They should make the day sauron was defeated the first time a general day of festivities.
Have every npc in the town gather in the central square, make drinkstall pop up for the beer wine and food, put a band on the podium and dance the night away with the fair maiden of your dreams.
And the following morning you wake up to find the lady of your dreams to be a 300 pound 4f2" hairy dwarf.
