Well, found both my graphics software and the time to do some new work... so before I get to work on MEMod, it's time for a contest entry. And lucky people that you are, you get to see how I create those 3d images...
The contest.
The first design sketch of the freighter I'm going to wreck for this image. The final image will have it damaged and drifting in an asteroid field, victim of a pilot's wrong turn.
edit: for scale,
THIS is the tiny fighter below the ship. So that makes the freighter about 230m long.

I like it! Of course I'm a big sci fi and space travel fan. Have fun making this into a scene, and have even more fun blowing it up.

Good luck in the contest, I know you'll do more then your best

Good luck, I know you are a very good modeler so this should be pretty easy for you. What kind of DVDs do they give you?

Finished the "blueprint" drawings and scene layout. Concept design is pretty much done, so it's on to modeling.
UberBender: it's tutorial dvds. And apparently good ones, from what I've seen on the site.

Another night's work, in between frisbee and sleeping.
Is anyone actually reading this?

Very nice model... the details deserve a hat raise.
I think I've seen that ringwraith-pic you've used as background in DeviantArt... world is small

Way better than anything I can do. Maybe you could work on the Tatooine Mod with us?

Nice stuff, but I thought we were supposed to stick with Morrowind type images.

It's for a contest - read the thread before you post.

No, this forum is for art of any kind.
And now that I've necromanced the thread, updates are coming soon. The contest deadline is 25 hours, and I'm going to make good use of every one of them.

Since I promised in-progress images, not just the final result....
Ignore the blockiness of the curved sections, it's set at a low poly count to make the test renders go faster.

Well I must say, the model looks cool. Very nice, 'like the details very much! But the concept drawings aren't that good but hey as long as the final scene looks nice...

More work! New video card means I can actually load this model without dropping framerate to .001fps and work with it. So now it's time to finish it.
Current poly count: ~140k
