Ok, i'm down in the dwemer ruins under the city and i'm trying to activate the weather machine. I can't turn it on. I see the junction box, but can't find an artifact to put in it. (if thats indeed how you turn it on). I only had 2 Satchel charges. I used 1 to get in here and the other i haven't decided what to do with. I saved my game and tried using it on this one area that led me to a giant dearadic (sp?) complex. I can't seem to find anything in there that is of use. Is there? Can Anyone point me in the right direction? ps, is there anyway i can "additem" the C4 stuff....i like it....... dry.gif

You don't use the explosives to activate the machine. Attach the artifact you were given (I forget the name), then move the control levers until you get the result you need.
UberBender
A powdered Dwemer Coheror (sp?) is the item used to activate the weather machine.

then you pull the levers on the sides and then the one in the middle and it should say in your journal that you made ash storms. Go you.

You use the powered coherer and fiddle around with levers until you get it to work.

This may not apply to everyone but all I had to do was press the right lever (after putting the dwermer coher in the machine) and .... my journal was updated telling me I did it right, and the picture on the wall was of a volcano spewing ash.
