Hey, i just found out about this mod, (more like a game actually), but was wondering something. What is the scale of the game? Can you really traverse all the sections of ME shown on the map, like the Shire, Mirkwood.... Moria?

Comon, lets not drive away every new individual who joins the forums, this should be a fun and growing experience to watch and learn about this mod.
Wallernotsowelsh's comments were quite rude, so phork I can comment on your question.
Phork, if the location in middle earth existed in the third age (the time period that the mod will exist) you will be able to go there. You will see the mines of moria and the halls of the elven king in mirkwood. I would suggest going through the wealth of threads particularly the stickies, for they outline the focus of the mod in more detail than I can as only a concept artist. Have fun, and welcome to our forums.

That was a nice reply kfmccall! I just want to add that Mirkwood(or what's it's called in the mod) will be slightly larger than Vvardenfell itself! So you can really imagine how huge this masterpiece will turn out!

Oh and about walking through the mines of Moria dont get to excited yet, we dont know if we'll be able to walk through it freely yet or be struck down by legions of Orcs. All depending on the time line

From what I've seen, the devs are keeping a lot of details close to their chests because they want you to be genuinely surprised by this mod. What I can tell you is that, basically, you are going to be dumped into the middle of Middle Earth at some point between the beginning of the Third Age and the birth of Bilbo Baggins and can more or less go anywhere and do anything within Middle Earth itself (though, in case you're not aware, Middle Earth is only part of the complete Tolkien world). You are constrained by the fact you start as an ordinary commoner and are not going to be able to change the timeline of Middle Earth, as set out by Tolkien himself, but that still leaves one hell of a lot you can do.

No... this is the understatement of the century: MeMod is late

Memod can't be late, they said they wouldn't give a final release date. But I will say that Memod WAS late a VERY long time ago. Wishful thinking has always been the gamer's downfall.

Oh god... and the forums were in such relative peace for a while... now we'll have more DMKW to deal with... Sigh...
But ON TOPIC: MEMod is extremely large, I've seen a few shots (some of them are not public yet) that show just how big it is... it's daunting. I'm surprised how much has gotten done on the Mod to this point given what I've seen as the size of the landmass. But admittedly that's also one of the reasons that we've taken so long in making the mod. It's just too damn big to do in a year alone. I didn't understand that fully until I became a teamster.

you know i do check these forums many times daily right? its not like i just come by once in a while to fight with people. i've noticed that in the past 2 weeks people have been trying to get me started...maybe you want me to fight back and get banned? i don't know....maybe you think showing your dislike for me will make you liked on the forum? hey maybe it will...again i don't know...i'm sorry to dissapoint you but when it comes to this thread i don't see anything wroth addresing. or do you people really believe i just like to start stuff up for no reason or just for the hell of it? i'm sorry but its hard to be a happy and positive poster on a forum where so many openly want you to leave.

Well, if it's gonna be like ME itself, you need first to find the doors, figure out how to open them, and survive a possible encounter with the Watcher. Since it is in the 3rd age, and the Balrog still lives, if you manage to survive the entrance, you just might be burned alive by Shadow and Flame

The orcs come only after you survive all that, and if you do, you will bless the moment you see a volley of orc arrows rather then a cranky Balrog.

Well, I don't think it will be too easy for the PC to get into Moria... I mean, it was already difficult enough for the Fellowship as is, and they were not commoners... If the mod takes place before III 1980, then the Balrog hasn't awoken yet, and there is a small colony of dwarves in Khazad-Dûm... But then again, I don't think they'd let any commoner passing by enter their domains

EDIT: Sorry, before III 1980 Moria was not a "small colony" but a huge and ancient dwarven city... I got mixed up with the small recolonization effort that started in III 2989... probably out of the mod's timeline

The Balrog doesnt eat humans, elves, dwarves or hobbits, thats... evil!
The Balrog was so misunderstood, I think he was the real victim of FotR, not Boromir. The poor guy only wanted some friends, because orcs arent really good company. And here comes the fellowship, and he tries to befriend them. So what if his social skills suck, it doesnt mean Gandalf has any right to collapse a bridge on him and then throw him off a mountain!
This is what really happened at the bridge of Khazad-Dum!
Gandalf: You cannot pass!
Balrog (to himself): Huh? But all my new friends are on the other side! Didnt they like my pretty hot fire and the spooky darkness? Look! A fiery sword! Maybe he wants to touch it!
Gandalf: Bla bla bla... Anor... bla bla bla... Udun...
Balrog (to himself): Anor? Udun? What is he talking about? Maybe I should get closer to hear what he is saying.
(Bridge collapses, and the friendly Balrog falls, trying to get Gandalf to join him because he thinks he is his new best friend)
