I've got a new computer so I had to re-install everything. Also 3d Max. I've lost my Nif import plugin and I've searched on the web for the plugin but I couldn't find it anymore. Does anyone got the plugin for me??

I also have this problem with 3dsMAX 6. Apparantly there are no plug-ins for 3dsMAX 6 that can inport/export .NIF files. But if you have Vversions 3-5 there are several plug-ins for .NIF files...but i don't know ehre they are try looking for them on google or on the discreet website.

and 3d max 6 will never support nif. it's too outdated a format.
it would be real nice if those bums at PolyTrans made a converter, seeing as that's all they do...

You can't. Only 3dsmax6 is available in a legal demo form. Discreet has no reason to go through the trouble of releasing and hosting a demo of an obsolete version. In fact, it would be against their best interest, since it would present a bad image of the current version.

Find a Book called "3ds max 5 Bible" by Kelly L. Murdock. It comes with a cd that has a 30day trial of 3ds max. It's about $50 US. Some of the Other 3ds max books come with trial versions as well.

Fair warning it installs c-dilla copy protection/liscence management software to enforce the 30day trial. And it leaves tracks behind a standard re-format (full not quick!) won't get rid of. I found out when on day 7 or so my system had one of those re-install type crashes that trashed some critical files and had to re-do windows. The re-installed 3dsmax 5 trial insisted a previous install had been detected and it needed an authorization code to continue.

Gak forgott a couple things, firstly a max5 plugin does exist, no need to drop back to 4, I know the nif exporter for freedom force works for tes:cs. I think you have to avoid a setting FF allows or set one that is optional in ff, not shure. google a bit.
Also IIRC nif wasn't a discreet format, but rather a format for a particular game engine (netfusion?) and that company is the one to harass^h^h^h^h^h beg for a max6 exporter, and an importer for 3-6 would be nice also.
Speaking of importers there was a beta importer done by someone (in germany IIRC) that tended to crash max sometimes, and didn't import textures, just raw geometry. But I can't recall where I saw it. Very unofficial as well.

Thank you this helps me a lot. Where can I get Freedom Force? and if any of you even say "google it" I will brake your head in to two! I might also need the plugin for FF or is it Hard coded into the program?
