If you dont give him money, after a while he'll come back, very strong! My character is lvl 29, but I can't kill him.
Does anybody know how to do it without cheating?

set the difficulty to -100... i cud kill him with that setting but i was lv 63 at the time... i suggest backing off, training, coming back and trying him when ur higher level
and dont worry, it doesnt matter whether u pay him or not he still comes back and tries 2 kill u

gaenor has 515 luck! No wonder he is so powerful! I used a scroll of Paralyzation for 15 seconds on him, and got killed because he reflected it back on me. A strong Absorb Health spell or enchanted blade is your best bet.

he's a bosmer punk just outside the temple, he asks for you to give him tons of gold etc etc, say no and take him down. unless i'm thinking of the wrong person. but check it out either way.

oh, that prick, i got rid of him easy. i attacked him, then used the console to turn of collisions. He chased me into the side of the temple. i managed to get out and turn collisions on again whilst he was still inside. unfortunately a piece of him is sticking out and is and is in a constant state of running even though he aint going anywhere. i might let him out someday.

I enchanted luck items for self casting, and jacked my luck up to about 200 with them, then when I took him on, I actually hit, he never had a chance.

You could always use absorb/drain luck spells on him (absorb is better). Sure, he may reflect a few but any spell that is successful will at least make hitting him easier. Or just aim an area effect spell at the ground near him - he can't reflect what doesn't actually hit him.
Hit him. Lots and with a big weapon. He was a hard fight used loads of health potions and had loads of armour. Used a longsword (best speed/damage combo) as shortsword too lame damage wish and axe/big hammer too slow. Oh and get lucky as well and save before you take him on

He has 255 luck already in the editor, and he has that amulet that fortifies luck by 15 points, along with an ability that pushes it up another 255.

Gaenor reminds me of Fargoth...albeit a very strong yet bitchy Fargoth...and with ebony armor, no less!

Ever wonder if mayhaps Bethsoft made Gaenor as a sort of "Fargoth's Revenge"?

Ahhhh... my old "buddy" Gaenor... I almost got a RMD (repetitive motion disorder) from trying kill that little bas-ard. You can vote Fargoth as "Most Annoying" NPC all you want, but in my book, Gaenor takes the proverbial cake. Fargoth has never mopped up the streets with my a-- the way Gaenor has (more times than I care to admit).
As for bumping him off... without cheating... I can only suggest you stock up on restore potions and bring along your biggest and baddest enchanted weapons, armor, etc. You won't even be able to land a hit on him but maybe 20% of the time, so make every hit you do manage to land hurt... BADLY. I had to scheme for days before I was finally able to "off" this guy... I was starting to feel like Wyle E. Coyote chasing the Road Runner... and ohhhh the temptation to "TGM" was strong... very strong.

Ok, here's how you beat him:
Get a big, long one handed longsword. UNENCHENTED (or with little or no cherges left) because he reflects spells (!). Put on your best armor. Have a good Block skill level. Get the boots of blinding speed. set yourself on constant run. challenge him, hit him (try again if you miss). run away. heal. repeat. This will probably take about half an hour, but thats how I beat him. He is very tough. mm. thats my rant, hehe.

Hehe, I gave that punk 1000 gold, before figuring out what he was up to and telling him I don't have anymore. Then what thanks do I get but attacked the next time I see him. Almost killed me with one hit. Being quick on my feet (thanks to my addiction to speed potions), I get my bleeding butt out of there at full throttle (had my speed around 400). While I'm running I start gulping down some strength and agility enhancing potions I made earlier, and by time I'm done, both are just over 1000.
Now, not even bothering to heal and full of courage, I spin around on that little gremlin and tear him to pieces. He gets in maybe three swings, all misses, from being knocked down so much.
I ended up using the same tactic on the wench at the end.
Come to think of it. I started getting lazy, and instead of casting spells a lot like an Arch-Mage should, I just pumped up with potions and put even the Hulk to shame.

Using the official Area Effect Arrows plugin, and a few scrolls of Tinur's Hoptoad, I took out that [expletive] in a few minutes and 50 arrows.

Mmm. Rifle. ;-)
Unforunately, the Morrowind world doesn't have rifles. So, you're going to have to make do with long-range weaponry. Like Dwarven Darts. That'll show him. Or else, you could run up to him and simply start hammering away with a shield.
Mind you, he's being hella cheap, so I suggest you do the same thing -- royal signet ring, anyone? Hmm? Of course, if you don't feel like whacking the king (I did it for his funky robe, looks great with my Her Hand armor), simply walk up to good old Gaenor, (first time you meet him,) taunt him, and kick his pansy little wood elf arse.
Of course, without killing the king and still getting your ebony amour, you could just chug about fifty bottles of Sujamma at once and take out a HUGE FRIGGING MACE/SWORD/BIG STICK/WARHAMMER OF DOOM!!! Hermph.

Or you could do as I did, being the alchemy freak that I am  . What I did was during my gameplay I rasied my Alchemy to 100 through much potion and profit making

and then decided to make some forify intelligence potions using Bloat and Netch Leather. What you do is make one potion of the such then drink it, close the inventory, go back to inventory, make another, repeat. After doing this and killing every Netch in the Southern area of the Island I had my Intelligence up to 2,000,000 and a little bit more, mind you, this is not cheating. Afterwards I went on to make some fortify Strength, agility, endurance, willpower, personality, and luck potions. You see I did do speed but I ended up with my speed well over 100,000 and that tends to make things a little...too fast, same with levitate. Also the lenght of these potions are in the millions of seconds, so by the time I met up with good'ol Gaenor he was less than a...problem. Also doing this can make you a ton of money as well. Welcome to the wonders of Alchemy, have a nice day.
