I need help getting these RAR's in the right place. Can any one tell me please?

You don't put them anywhere. It's an archive file. You need WinRAR to extract the files within.

I have a set of help files for people new to mods. They take you from downloading through unzipping and into placing a mod into the game. They also include instructions on installing 7-zip, a better unzip program than winrar. And its completely free, unlike winrar which is a for pay program with a free trial.

Allow me to just second what Bben said. 7-zip is an excellent program. It's so easy to use. I downloaded it and never looked back.
