Full Version: What happened to the picture and joke thread?
The Nexus Forums > Discussions > The Lounge (Off Topic Forum)
Stampede

Hello everyone.

First off, we appreciate the friendly place that the lounge is. You all seem to get along (most times thumbsup.gif ) and make some creative and entertaining threads.

A little while back a little extra moderation had to be undertaken to clean up some posts which contained material not suitable for this site. We had to step into one or two threads and remind people that these forums are family orientated and created around gaming and having fun in general. Here is a quote from the Terms of Service:

QUOTE
Nexus sites are community-driven websites for people of all ages to share news, files and images and talk about pretty much anything and everything, with a clear focus on gaming...

...Through your use of any Nexus site you agree that you will not post any material which is false, defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, threatening, related to piracy, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise in violation of UK law. Know that in severe cases legal action can be taken against you.

Now, there were two threads that we, the staff, decided had to go. One was the new adult joke thread and the other was the picture thread.

Don't misunderstand me, we all found them funny but the point is, it was wrong for them to exist for two reasons:

1) They went against the TOS

2) It was not fair of us to come down on other members for, ahem, "naughty" posts and allow those threads to continue.

Please understand, it's a question of fairness and sticking to the rules. There should be no grey areas on these boards. You may not like us (the staff) all the time, but you must always think of us as being fair.

Thank you for your understanding.

Please also note that we're distinguishing between the forums and the sites here, as the sites have a semi-censor in the form of the adult content filter. There is no such filter on the forums. Content on the forums should remain PG-13 while content on the site can be more mature due to this content filter.

So pretty much, Necro G wasn't allowed to make that thread? I understand you completely, Stampede. We can assure you it won't happen again. Although, I liked the jokes, I thought they were pretty darn funny and such, but yeah. I guess you can say it is against the TOS.

Yeah, it's like I said, nobody is in any trouble or anything and picture threads are always welcome so long as they follow the TOS. We let it slide at first, but decided that if these boards are truly then impartial it had to go, even if we all did enjoy the thread. smile.gif

Fully understandable, still a shame though. Time to move on to other things I guess, there still oughta be lot of fun we can pull in the offtopic section. ninja.gif

Well, I can't say I'm not fond of adult humour (I probably shouldn't, being 14), but I suppose they had to go. Cheers on the splendiferous work.

am i actually the only one that thinks such behavior tho socially accepted and the norm is hypocritical? afterall this site is centered around games that are basicly kill that, kill this, use bloody mess and enslave that child... which are imo honestly much worse morally seen than a bunch of boobs...
i found this funny in the game "americas army" aswell which censored "foul language" while at the same time promoting killing with a hand grenade...
i dont wanna attack your descicion to remove the threads in any way (i never read em anyway xcept the joke thread) but maybe its about time the common moral of that world we live in would get some sense...
ask yourself whats worse... murder or porn (how awkward japanese it might be lol)?

*sigh*

I guess it was inevitable in the end.

Shame it had to go sad.gif
But you guys have your reasons and if its against the TOS then I guess it had to go.

There is a difference, Jaysus. Those people have bought the game and accepted and expect the content they'll be receiving.

The same cannot be said here where, as pointed out, there are people of all ages and sensibilities usually expecting some clean chat about games.

Cheers.
