I salute all the men from who took part in D day and gave their lives to stop the german occupation and may they rest in peace.

Second that.

Stopping the spread of nazism and fascism was a great achievement - in times when the western world seems to be held in the grip of closet-extremist right-wingers I find it a consoling thing to think of the people back then - who fought and died for all the right reasons for once.

My hat off to them.

My own personal belief is that violence and war should only be used when absolutely necessary. WW2 was a prime example of a necessary war. IMO, everyone who fought in it is a hero, both those who made it back and those who didn't.

I salute them also.

I salute them too.

The brass told the soldiers that it would be "an easy storm of the beaches and a quick invasion"

It kinda turned out worse than that to say the least

That's a definite salute from me too. I really think that all of the men (and women?) that fought in WWII were heroes. D-Day was just the beginning of what turned out to be one of the biggest, if not THE biggest war in the world. SALUTE! :salutesmileygoeshere:

Erm, you've made a slight mistake there - D-Day was in 1944. WW2 began in 1939. D-Day was really the beginning of the counter-attack by the Allies, not the beginning of the war.

Ok, I know I'm late and all that, but hey, who's gonna stop a salute to heroes?
I say we all have a minute of silence in memory of those who died on the shores of Omaha Beach(it was Omaha, right?) so now, be quiet!
Elgen
I salute the norwegian men who destroyed much of the heavywater made for use in a nuclear bomb.

WWII affected my life. You see, my Grandfather was persecuted by the Nazis and my great-grandfather was gassed by them. That's why D-Day means alot to me.

I think the Canadian army's(When it was an army. Now,we have enough Military forces to properly defend the Atlantique provinces.) usefulness has been played down alot. They really helped the war effort. And...ummm...salute.....
