This has probably been stated before, given the amount of time Oblivion has been out, however, I just have to point out the obvious weakness I've noticed in Oblivion, and Morrowind, frankly. That is, whenever you level up in the hand to hand combat system as a Journeyman, Expert, or even a Master, it's like, "Oh cool! Now I can.......punch..." "Neat, I'm an Expert fighter now. Now I have the...'punching' ability. Wow, I'm a Master at hand to hand....now I've learned to....PUNCH!!! Boy, all those lessons really paid off.
I mean, my opinion given that I've been a martial artist for over 20 years is probably a little biased but come on, that's pretty lame really. I really wanted to have something unique as a fighter that had his OWN weapon system of 'hands and feet' whenever I first purchased Morrowind. Then when Oblivion came out, again I had high hopes. Fortunately, we've had a great modding community and I am getting ready to give Adrenaline Fueled Combat a try. I don't know how many new combat moves it adds, but it seems superb in concept. I particularly like the adding of gauntlets for more empty handed combat damage. Anyway, i only hope that the next Elder Scrolls makes the combat system a little more interesting for "monk like characters." They should have unique movements for their rolls in the game.
Actually, maybe, Bethesda will REALLY go crazy and make EACH character unique rather than a fighter that is really a mage and an alchemist that is REALLY a theif! One should have to DUAL-CLASS for that kind of thing, but that's another topic!
