I've seen quite a few plays and have read many more due to college and parents that are into the arts, and I'm actually starting to enjoy some of them. If you're particular to some play, post about it. My personal favorites were Les Miserables (Doubt anyone hasn't seen it), The Crucible, and Macbeth . >< its all pretty mainstream stuff I suppose but hey, its still good stuff.

THe older you get the more you get into plays and stuff but when your a kid you think there boring the hate going to see them.

Les Miserables... best one. I saw War and Peace at the Metropolitan Opera [my sister was in it]; it was pretty boring, but that was because I was younger. But still, it's 5 hours of French and Russian. Which I can't udnerstand.

Yeah, age doesn't play a part. I'm 14 and I love plays.

My favorite so far was 'Idiot's Delight' by Robert Sherwood. I saw it at the 2001 Ashland Shakespeare Festival. It's about a group of people stuck in a small hotel in the Italian Alps, due to a war. This play was written after WWI, and resembles WWII very much. Very odd, sense no one knew there was going to be a WWII.

Age may not always play a part - but I still believe in most cases it's probably right that the older you get the more you enjoy it...

My favorite play is, sadly, in icelandic and written in icelandic, so I can't comment on that... but my second favorite, which is quite more likely people here will recognize, was a really excellent version of Romeo and Juliet (yes, yes...) performed by trained acrobats, really amazing stunts - and amazing acting.

Goodness, ask me what plays I like and include opera? The list would be too long.

Slaiv, Prokofiev's War and Peace would not be an opera I recommended to the inexperienced. I love it but I certainly didn't start on such a tough nut.

But plays - almost anything by Shakespeare, especially Measure for Measure, which I directed last year. Of plays by living playwrites, apart from my own of course, David Hare's Murmuring Judges (about corruption in the police force and 'privilege' in the legal profession). A new play Blue/Orange also made me think.

I prefer plays that make me laugh and think at the same time!

(As an actor I have been in many but they are not all plays I liked.)

ive got 2, the first by Matthew Borne (its ballet really) some scottish thing with faeries in, and the other by a company that began with a P - they make comedy plays etc

Not sure that I shouldn't reply by PM but:-

Several of my plays have been performed on the Fringe in London (with good reviews) but so far only one is publically available on the Internet. This is a monologue called 'The Soldier' and it was on a Dutch website entitled Theatre of War. I don't know if it is still there. I have sent copies of my writing by PM and email to those forum members interested. In theory one play )Don't Look too Deep) is being done in the London Fringe this autumn but the plans are a bit slow and I suspect it may be next spring.

Performed are
'Leaving the Stage' a fifteen minute comedy-horror sketch 3 times, different locations.
'Taking the Piss' a prizewinning ten minute comic duologue 3 perfs.
'The Boy on the Bridge' a prizewinning full length play 7 performances.
'The Soldier' monologue - several performances including Edinburgh
'The Teacher' monologue - two performances, mentioned on TV
Other plays have been done as public script in hand readings by various professional groups.

I'd be happy to post a monologue on the forum but the language in the Soldier is too strong for the sensitive flowers that grow in Druid's Garden; the plays are too long!
