Reactor simulations export directly into Morrowind!
I repeat, Reactor simulations export directly into Morrowind!
If you don't know what I'm talking about, you're not not a modler or animator. If you at least know what I'm talking about, then this is EXCELLENT news.

Thought I'd bring this forward to those working on MEMOD.
If this will push back any dates... delete the post.
Theres a video on page 2. Or click
this link to download the .avi.
Hope this helps in some way. Those with more knowledge on the subject, your 2 cents is appreciated.
Take care.

Of course they do. Once you set it up in 3dsmax and run the calculations, reactor turns it into data that you can use without having to redo all the physics calculations. That stuff isn't calculated in realtime.
Despite the over-optimistic ideas in that thread, this really isn't all that useful. Sure, you can have perfectly realistic physics, but only in predefined situations. You can script something to break at a specific time, but you can't have it break properly no matter what angle it's hit by a sword (without an insane amount of pregenerated outcomes). Ragdoll physics for characters is absolutely impossible.

Darn, now i want 3dmax.
But isn´t it really exspensive?(i hope this aint too "off-topic")
So you can place a dynamite at some wall and let it just explode!
....that´s just toootaly cool

EDIT: This Video looks rather like a cartoon with this stars all around when it explode

Yes, if a mod creator added a special wall to the game, planned in advance to work like that. You aren't going to be able to simply blow up anything you feel like.

but even pre-planned/scripted events could be very cool if done right. its one of the things that made Half Life so great no?

I would like to see set piece events in MW which use pysics like that! Even if it is only in certain places its better than not being able to destroy anything.

(Excuse me if off-topic)
You can get a 30-day trial here:
http://www4.discreet.com/3dsmax/3dsmax.php?id=403Just to see how hard it truly is. If you really like 3d modeling but want to be legit and don't have the cash for the programs, just look into Maya Personal Learning Edition (Completely free!)
http://www.alias.com/eng/products-services...ple/index.shtml Maya is quite a bit more powerful, but it shows in the price. Nearly $7,000 USD for the Unlimited edition and $2,000 for the Complete edition.

well we always knew that we can put animations in the game...
and this stuff is not generated in real time..its nice but nothing new:D

There is a free version of 3DS max on the discreet site called Gmax its a little limited though. A better choice is Softimage XSI (used for HalfLife 2) and that is good!

Reactor for 3ds max: List Price: $ 1,000.00
“Introducing reactor™ - the complete dynamics extension to 3ds max™. Design advanced soft-body and rigid-body dynamics, free-form deformations, cloth, fluids, and rope simulations within one highly interactive system. Dynamics Simulations provide for physically accurate animations driven by natural forces such as wind, gravity, and the density of an object. “
Passage from:
Reactor for 3ds maxPlease tell me that this isn't what IndigoRage is talking about....

How could a Modeler/animator afford this?

(Sorry if off topic)

*Mr. Frodo gained 55XP in Thread Necromancy... LEVEL UP*
The cost of 3dmax doesn't matter, since Gmax is just a watered down version and it's free.
Plus, I believe there is a student version thats about $300 or so.

Well, this is nice and all, but how about somebody telling us something about MEMod and ragdoll-effects and breaking stuff. Are similar things being done in MEMod? ...Not that I would want to break any of your precious art...

Yes, go for the student edition if you don't plan on using it for business purposes. It's alot cheaper.

Be nice! He was only trying to help. oO
Also, Reactor has been integrated with 3dsmax 6, just as Character Studio 4 has been integrated with 3dsmax 7.
