Ok I got a localized version of Oblivion and I tried to install the patch (the one that specifically says localized version doesn't work) and of course, as expected, 'Old file not found, blah blah blah' appeared... But when I ran Oblivion afterwards at the start menu at the corner it said 1.2.043696123 or whatever

. So... How did I get 1.2 when it said the quote above? Am I.... Magic?

Well all I know is that after 1.2 it's 4 and then a bunch of random numbers.... But I swear it's magic!!!
And it's not a display glitch, several addons and OBSE require 1.2 to work and I have OBSE running AND the newest version of Midas Magic....

Don't you think that newly pressed versions would be updated (like the GotY edition is)?

Yeah, later editions of games have always been updated, without changing the title or blatantly stating as such on the box. I own several different editions of Ultima VII.

I think the whatever there is 0416 and so, no mystery at all

(or that locale have a hand in the patching...)
indeed what you need to be aware is that four numbers beginning with ...0416 and all is well.

Well my copy isn't the GotY edition, it's just plain normal oblivion copied onto a Sony DVD-R by a friend of mine. IT'S MAGIC! I SWEAR IT!

Why, no I'm not lying at all. If you want I COULD take a picture of my oblivion disc, and then a screenshot of my menu to prove I am telling the truth. But only if people start flaming me calling me a liar.

You mean you're using a pirated copy your friend bootlegged for you?
And it's a lot more easily understandable now that I know that part.

"locale" gained a whole new meaning for me. Believe you i was thinking in another place and language?
not another dvd-writer...or friend's neigborhood.

No, my friend doesn't even have 1.2 on his Oblivion. It was 1.0 when he gave me the game.
Note: Dictionaries ftw?

there isnt a need to get rude Fwoosh but i do have 2 possibilities
one: your lying ( no offence but there isnt any evidence to back up what you said)
two: the update was already installed on your copy
those are the only two reason i can see that make sense
