Shadow of the Fallen
After a brief time of talking with Enisis, Kin'sharion resigned to simply floating in the air above his body. It was bliss to be here, in this sanctuary created to honor his fallen gods, but it brought up rememberance of what the strange creature had told him earlier...

False, dead gods? Blasphemy I think, but the question is how much truth is in those words. For so long have we held our sacred rites and traditions, for so long have we blindly followed this faith. But, that was our purpose in the beginning, to follow our faith and protect this world. Perhaps that can be bent.. Perhaps I should listen to my self more when I speak of blasphemy, my thoughts now seem to be clouded with such malevolent things. But I must know the truth about what it is I am to do.. Oh this is so very complicated.

He flew up higher, deeper into the darkness before resuming his thoughts, But what of that creature, who was he and worse.. What was he. He seemed to be gifted with speed and strength of a Gardian, but his features were almost vampiric.. Could it be? No, its not possible. Unless...
MDRud216
ooc: it seems that my original idea has failed as I was hoping that my players would take tis time to roleplay, exploring their surroundings and getting to know the environment that the rpg will take place in... you will still have time to do this but I am going to hurry along the developing plot to keep interest.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Ulid notices an orange glow somwhere beyond the veil of the bedcovers, just as he peeks out over the top it intensifies and a vampiric instinct takes over seeming to slowing the movement of time around himas his thoughts and prosecing time speed up. suddenly the orange glowing object strikes the tentside and a sudden flame covers the opening of the tent, voices from the outside are heard:
'A vampire! a VAMPIRE INSIDE THE TENT!"

but the original yells are cut short by a mariade of similar ones; dozens of vampiric forms had been revealed by the light of the burning tent as well as many bloodless corpses just beyond the panicked group of soldiers.

"FORM RANKS!" the order was harsh and effective, sending the men into a tight defencive circle around the only effective source of life saving light: the burning tent. OOC: your not dead mrpyromania, you should be able to figure out something to do... not the fire could easily kill a vampire anyway.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

In this area vampire atack is common, humans expect it in some areas but are rarely able to counter it. hopefully that explains the "ease" of the humans forming ranks rather than scattering in a panicked state... although that is possible if attacks are clever enough, or a sudden light source does not illuminate the attackers.
Shadow of the Fallen
Finnaly weary of his out of body experience, Kin'sharion returned to his body. He was reluctant to rise, at first, though he knew he must, and he geastured Evian to do the same as he forced himself to a kneel. Upright at last, he turned to the younger warrior, and with a nod of his head motioned him out. He followed closely as Enisis strode out, apparently also weary from the flight.

Wordlessly, Kin'sharion rounded the great altar in the middle of his room, to the stairs that lay at its base. He knelt quickly in prayer to Tarturas before stepping up onto the platform. Respectivly, Evian did the same, though he did not dare to even touch such a sacred spot.

Kin'sharion stood for a time, perhaps lost in thought, staring at his battle armor and his weapons. The bastard sword he wore at his hip was cerimonial, decorated to a degree, but nothing in comparison to his battle weapons. The cerimonial blade looked hardly firce against the wicked, curved edges of his battle blade. The gold-laid hilt was only a shiny peice of metal in comparison to the intricate pattern of thorned vines that were etched from the tip of the blade to the pomel of his great weapon. And the precious jewels set almost randomly on the ritual sword were merely pebbles in comparison to the swirling black stones set into the war sword. One was made to look nice in front of an audience, one was made to kill.

It was then, after ponedring these differences, that he reached out slowly to grasp his real sword. He felt a surge of power as he drew the blade, the polished metal gleaming in the candlelight. For an instant, he held it out before him, as if waiting for something, and then he again sheathed it. Then, with it in hand, he stepped down from the platform and made his way to the training halls. Evian exited behind him, then turned to go his own way.. Perhaps in wonderment of the odd occurance.

OOC: Made a name change edit, sorry Ensis. And this would be a good time to detail the training hall, MDRud. Kin is presumably going to go in the main entrance, and then observe the (hopefully) in progress training seeing to it that the warriors are learning their techniques with utmost speed. He brought his massive hand-and-a-half Sword with him, and I can only imagine he would show them a few "pointers".. But thats my job.

IC:Evien had gathered his thoughts in his meditation. he knew what he must do. checking his weapons he queitly slipped into the elders chambers. he wasn't noticed as he nocked an arrow and took aim. grim determination reflected in his eyes as he realesed the arrow to do his bidding. one by one the arrows found there target. the elders wouldn't wake up the next morning because off the bright pink arrows protruding from inbetween there eyes. as he began his journey to the source he heard faint polka music playing somewhere, but it didn't bother him. whenever a traveller passed him he would moon them before dissipearing off the road to continue his journey.

OOC: I'm too busy to play any more so I'll go out with a bang!!! HAHAHAHA

...How about not, In my story the Gaurdians are the most noble and honorable beings imaginable and I would hate to have that ruined by what you just posted... so I am going to cover it... really I don't like it when people do things like that.

A head toppled off broad shoulders and rolled a few feet away and the just notched arrow inthe bodies arms let loose and lodged itself into the ground at the foot of an elders bedside.
The Gaurdian that had severed the head of this honorless beast sheaved his blade after casually cleaning it on the ceremonial robes of his victim. By now the targeted Elders were up once again, feeling victorious over the fool who thought he could kill one of them. Long before the incident would have happened the elders had forseen it, and placed themselves in rest prematurly... before the sun had rose even. Telepathically the Gaurdians had communicated in secret and gaurds were placed around the chambers. The infedel never had a chance.

Many of the elders felt a strange aura in the room, and sensed a difference in the blood pooling around the fallen Gaurdian's neck... it seemed Vampiric, but still a shadowed Gaurdian as well... it would remain a mystery until further events revealed the truth was the general cuncensus omung the elders, as was the same with the creature that had infiltrated the great hall earlier.

Kelar left the elders chamber in awe of the loss of intelligence in the being that had been slain, it had planned its attack hours before the sun would rise... and it did not realize its mistake... ever because of the gaurd that had been placed by the elders. The attacker was foolish to believe that it would be able to assasinate even one elder, or think that they would be in slumber during the night for the elders sleep little and only during the day, just the same as all Gaurdians and any one of them would have known this. surely something had corrupted he who thought of turning on his elders. And with that Kelar stopped thinking of the matter, he continued down the corridor heading north to the great stair. He traveled along the tunnel-like streets of the Gaurdian city, passing the wooden doors that led to the individual dwellings of the gaurdians. as he walked he compared this cramped city multi-level city to the almost temple-like dwelling place of the elders not far way on this level. When he finally arrived at the great stair he took the time to gaze upward through the many levels and up into the spire itself hundreds of feet above. He shifted his gaze down and began the short journey downward to the barracks where his students waited.
The change from the "civilian" city to this harshly organized barracks was surprising; no casual traveling here... instead small regiments of 10 to 20 Gaurdians patrolled the area, following strategic routes that led them both through the levels of the barracks and outside into the quieting ash storms.

This level of the barracks was the top, just under the top of the wall, where some of the patrols extended to, It was a large facility, and unlike the other levels the top one was one large space that extended away from the mountain into the wide encircling structure around the base of Mt. Tatu. Pillars supported the ceiling and combat areas were clearly set among them. Kelar walked quickly to one such area where a group of young Gaurdians waited patiently in light armors that adorned their robes.
"I am sorry i am late," Kelar said to his students, "There was other buisness to attend to." With that he began the training session that would continue through the night. Other similar groups did similar things, Kelar's bore bastard swords and trained rigorously withthem while other groups learned the ways of the two man spear, yet others fired arrows at targets placed on distant support columns. This was the active barracks level, below it a huge armory existed, stocked with tons of armor and weapons: each one unique waiting for the gaurdian who had overseen its crafting to come and claim it.

ignore eviens post, but think of the above as the reason it wwould be impossible for a succesful betrayal, and no Gurdian would ever ever betray anyway
Shadow of the Fallen
Kin'sharion strode up silently a distance behind Kelar so as not to disturb him. He watched carfully as he instructed the students in the use of their weapons. One by one, down the line, they began to draw their weapons, the distinctive ringing of steel filling the air. He leveled his gaze on the line as the last one drew, compleating the rythmic sound, and without hesitating, drew his own bade. The finely battle weapon sending a sharp, crystal clear sound into the room, one so unique that it drew the attention of every Guardian close enough to hear.

The blade he had drawn was not the cerimonial weapon that he had left back at his chambers, but the one he used in combat. Having fought with many of those in the large training hall, they all knew what it ment. Chaos. Countless battles had been started by the distinct ring of that blade, which was now held in a lax fashion by its owner.

Kin'sharion stepped forward, falling in with the last man in line. Kelar cast a questioning glance toward him, as if to ask if Kin'sharion was serious. After all, it should be Kin'sharion teaching Kelar, not the other way around. The massive warrior, robed in black and still holding his sword at ease, nodded. The drills began. First a series of slashing techniques, followed by thrusts, and then by others. Kin'sharion executed them with ease, his weapon arching gracefully through the air without the slightest effort.

Eventually, the drills were completed, and it was time for the daily sparring. Each man found his partner as Kin'sharion silently watched, weapon sheathed. Then, two by two, they began to spar in a prepared arena. Each used all the skills he had at his disposal to disarm or disable his foe, ending the match. Each knew that they were under the gaze of one of the most powerful beings to ever walk the planet.

At last, the final match had ended, and the group was once again in a line awaiting dismissal. Just as Kelar was about to speak, Kin'sharion steped forward. "Would you, Kelar, assume to end the session before I have gotten a chance to complete the exercise?.."

The stunned Kelar did not know how to respond, "well.. No. But who would you spar with?"

"You." The single word brought silence to the entire room as people stopped what they were doing to see what was going on. Surely, two elders in combat would be something to see. "Do you accept the challenge?"

"I do. And I have no intention of loosing to you." Kelar replied with a hint of defiance as he bagan to move into the arena. Kin'sharion followed him as classes were dismissed and Guardians began to gather around. Kelar and Kin'sharion stood across from each other, about half the length of the arena between them, and bowed. Then, they drew their weapons.

Kelar's cerimonial blade cleared the scabbard quickly as he began to circle around Kin'sharion. Kin'sharion's battle weapon called out in its unique ring as it came up in one swift motion. He too began to circle. To all sides a crowd of Gaurdians stood in silence...

MDRud216
Kelar ended the circling, and with a swift motion ducked down and "leaped" at Kin' sharion, the attack was blocked and the duel had begun. Devestating blows were made and blocked on both sides, and throughout the battle the original arena had grown three times its original size with the withdrawing of spectators when the two violently fought nearly into the crowd itself.

"Head them off Makura! Let not one foot belonging to these heathens onboard!" Elratha yelled stoutly as he swept the knees of a soldier walking the plank. He had a split second to give a grin as the weakling fell into the water; Elratha immediately thrust his bastard sword straight without looking. He smiled to himself again hearing the body splash into the water.

"I'm going to finish this now! Hold them off for a second!" Elratha glanced at Makura before retreating to retrieve his fearsome battle weapon.

"Oy! You get all the fun Elratha! You'll have to craft me a fine battle weapon such as yours one day." Makura replied as he beheaded two boarding soldiers with one swipe. Hmph, he thought to himself, these are some of the worst warriors I've ever had the displeasure of fighting. In fact, they do not deserve the title of warrior.

Elratha planted his foot at the edge of the boarding plank and swung horizontally with all his might. The six men on the plank at the time were now twelve halves of men as they fell into the sea. He ran across the board and swung again at the group of men, which now totaled 16 heads.

After Elratha and Makura were the only two left standing on either boat, Elratha thrust his samehada down through the hull of the longboat. Water was gushing through the hole, and the boat started to sink quickly. Makura made his way to the tiller of their boat, while once Elratha was aboard, he smashed the boarding plank and they were on their way again. The rest of the day was uneventful, and Elratha spent most of it cleaning the sharp steel teeth of his weapon. At the most recent count, they would reach the shores before Mount Tatu within three to five days.
Dagger of Symachus
Volrath had vengeance on his mind. Even though he despised all life, he still felt that Ulid could have been an asset in battle if he had been killed by the humans. He looked in the shadows as a group of 30 or so humans began to form ranks. He knew that they're too many for him to manage with bluntly. He crept slowly through the shadows to the nearest human, grabbed him by the throat, and pulled him back into the darkness, covering his mouth.

"Did you only find one vampire inside the tent? Tell me, or I'll suck you dry of blood." whispered Volrath to the human.

"I...I don't know. I think there was only one vampire found inside the tent. Pl...Please don't ...*gulps* su...suck me d..." whimpered the man.

"You and your entire race aren't deserving of life, let alone the gift our race has". whispered Volrath as he slit the man's throat with his wakizashi and slowly moved the body deeper into the shadows. Volrath was slightly pleased knowing that only Ulid had possibly been killed, but he still felt an urge to avenge his fallen comrade.

Volrath watched silently as another human crept into the darkness to get away from the heat of the burning tent. As soon as the humans entire body was engulfed in shadow, Volrath jammed the blunt side of his wakizashi into the back of the humans head. He quickly caught the body as it fell, to make sure none of the other humans had detected him and moved the body deeper into the darkness, near the other body. He did this for several more hours, as more humans wandered into the darkness as he drank the fallens blood.

After another ten more kills, the humans began to get more suspicious. They sent out a small search party of three humans. As soon as they reached Volrath, he knew he could be discreet no longer as they screamed as he slit their throats. He leaped out of the darkness, cutting of the hand of the nearest human, rendering the human harmless. He kicked another human into the burning tent as he slit two other's throats.

"ANOTHER VAMPIRE!" screamed another human. Volrath jumped over to the human and beheaded him as another human came rushing to Volrath with an axe over his head, ready to strike him down. Volrath cut the wooden hilt as the human was about to strike, making the blade land on the humans head, splitting it in half. Two more humans ran to Volrath on either side. He jammed a wakizashi into both of their gut.

The remaining humans were huddled around the tent, with three archers. The archers aimed at him as he ran towards them. He avoided all arrows but one, which had hit his left shoulder. He killed the two of the archers with his wakizashis and kicked the other humans into the burning tent. Volrath ripped out the arrow from his shoulder and drank all of the last archers blood, then threw the body into the flames.

"Now let's see if Ulid is still alive" yelled Volrath as he slit open the burning tent with his wakizashi...
Shadow of the Fallen
The crystal clear ringing of steel sparodically shattered the silence of the room. The entire training hall stood trasfixed, every eye on the two immortal warriors locked in epic combat. Each blow was returned with a flurry, and each block merited a counter. To the idle eye, it did not seem as though either of them was making any headway.

But it was that thought that put all present guardians below them in skill. To a trained eye, Kin'sharion was slowly, carefully, making progress. He was wearing down his opponent and using his great strength and endurance to his advantage. Kelar and his opponent knew this, but they fought on like the possessed, their black robes making them appear as furious wraiths.

Then Kin'sharion did something his opponent didn't seem to expect. Kelar had brought his blade up low from the left side, the tip of his blade almost touching the ground. This was the fourth time he'd seen the same attack, and each time he'd parried it the same way, but this time he ducked down and rolled to the right. Kelar's blade whistled through the air as he used his momentum to fuel a spin. But as his blade came back down it was deflected close to the hilt by Kin'sharion. The jolt forced the weapon from Kelar's hand and onto the floor as the whole room recoiled and let out a collective gasp.

Kin'sharion's foot came down sharply on the blade of the cerimonious weapon as he returned his own sword to its sheath. Without a word, he bent over and picked up the weapon. He examined its blade, noticing a chip about three inches from the crossguard (I think.. huh.gif ) where the two blades had struck during the final attack. As he did so, he spoke to Kelar, though the words were ment for all, "If I was a Vampire, you would already be dead. Remember that the next time you, and the rest of the council, decide that I should stop going to battle. When I go out to war, I go into the cities of the Vampire lords and kill them, so that they do not have the chance to come to ours and kill you."

With a face of stone, he bowed, customarily, to end the dual. But then he continued to do the unexpected, he held the sword up for all to see, the room still silent, and brought it into the floor with such violent force that it embedded the blade four inches into the solid stone.

His footsteps echoed invasivly in the silence, and when he slammed the door behind him, it made the room shudder...

Crouching within the tent,Ulid pondered a means of escape. Since he was sourrounded by enemy's,he suspected that he would be overwhelmed by the sheer number of soldiers. He rocked by and forth on his heels. The flams were a bother, but nothing that could truly harm him. He heard the screams and the battle outside.

"Looks like I really won't have to do anything risky." though Ulid, rising to his feet. As Volrath entered through his door,Ulid remarked " What took you so long? I've been wating here for a while." Casully,he turned slighlty and patted out a flame that had caught on his cloak. He kept a careful eye on the other vampire. Killing a rival in the confusing of battle was not unheard off. And he did not know how the volatile vampire considered him, whether it be friend or foe.

The darkness on the horizon you had been seeing the last few days had all but disapeared with the distant ash storms of Mt. Tatu, your journey continues and at last you can see the peaks of the great mountains on the horizon, but still sight of shore eludes you.

vampires

a flaming figure falls through the tent, squirming and screaming on the ground, "ahhhhh!!! vampires, vampir-" until the roar of the flames and sudden screaming cut him off. a shadow apears from the west, creeping over the tents dwindling flames. a eastbound wind washes over the clearing and darkness engulfs the area with the loss of all nearby fire. It had quited, no more screaming, no noise at all except muffled footsteps, to quiet for mortal ears to hear. Ulid and Volrath exit the tent to find hundreds of vampires gathered in the clearing, the inhabitants of at least three cities, including your own you realize as you spot Xiton, dropping the pale corpse of a human. "we move!" he yells and the vampires once againplunge into the surrounding forest, the journey to Hepstbet had began.

With the ash storm blowing and rough seas, both Elratha and Makura were wet and dirty. Their cloaks were drawn tightly around them as the boat was tossed by the waves. The storm lasted through the night, but as dawn broke the sea calmed and the wind all but died. Elratha looked up to see the great spire of Mt. Tatu bursting out of the clouds.

"We are close! Less than two days now Elratha!" Makura exclaimed. "It will be good to see the elders again."

"Who knows Makura," Elratha replied wryly, "perhaps this time you may even be able to best Kin'sharion in a duel!" Elratha laughed heartily, as Makura to this day had always been put down by Kin'sharion like it was no more than a laughing matter.

"Very funny Elratha, but you know it's true this time!" Makura shot back. He felt he had been training very hard, and would actually be able to best Kin'sharion.

The pair continued in silence for a while as the massive mountain rose evermore from the horizon. They would soon meet their bretheren again at the gates of Mt. Tatu, and above far up into the spire. It felt to be a glorious time of reunion, but deep down they both knew the world was on the brink of an enormous battle.

Heavy hooves pounded the early morning plains and the cloaked riders watched out over the waning darkness. To the north was the ominous border of the coniferous forest that lead up into the foothills of the southern mountain border to the Sea Of Sands.

The two Guardians turned toward the woods, taking interest in a running figure outside them. their horses reared as they aproached, fear was in the air, but gaurdians feel no fear and they pursued the figure into the woods, deeper and deeper through the dense trees...

givenn the speed it was obvious the figure was vampiric, somehow caught at dawn by the suns burning rays.A sharp turn was made and the two Gaurdians found themselves in a clearing, the suns early rays reacing the ground on one side. a rustling in the pine needles behind them earned a glance, the horses became uneasy turning in the clearing... never satisfied with not seeing a hungry predator just beyond the trees.

From above a swift figure came down upon the lesser of the two gaurdians, its image being consumed by the gaurdians cloak as the two flew to the ground, for a moment neither were visible beneath the shifting black robes. the sound of a sword drawing was heard and beneath the robes a violent battle was taking place. The vampire emerged leaping for a tree, it landed and looked down upon the wounded gaurdian, roaring in victory before an arrow was placed in his forehead by the second gaurdian. The vampire fell, removing the arrow and running back into the trees.

The wounded gaurdian leapt back to his horse and the pursuit was started again. In a few oments the bleeding vampire was in sight again rounding a sharp corner into an area of less dense trees. The gaurdian extended his sacred weapon, severing the head of the vampire as he rode past... the body fell into another clearing, this time filled with vampires. Suddenly the horses were mad with fright and bolted away, many vampires in pursuit. "The vampires! they're journeying somewhere." The thought was received and a replay made: "perhaps to the source, or the desolation, it is hard to tell but their are many... their company spread far beyond the clearing!"
"let us hurry, we must tell the elders of our discovery-" A vampire jumed from above, from low branches in the trees above. It was knocked off before it had a good grip on the lead gaurdians horse. The vampires were catching up, occasional attacks even as the horses sped on at full speed. At last just as they once again exited the forest and the rays of sunlight met there heavy hoods they were all but safe as a vampire lunged at the uninjured gaurdian, pulling him off the back of the horse and draining him even as his sword was being drawn. The vampire cralwed back into the shade of the forest on all fours like the beast it was, but its pain was well worth the gaurdian blood in her mouth...
Dagger of Symachus
Volrath had decided to sit, to sleep, to meditate whille the others quite possibly moved ahead. He sat on the ground, exhastued from rescuing Ulid. "My wound has not yet fully healed. I was not expecting to be this devestated by their defense." he thought to himself. He watched, perched on top of a tree, the other vampires move out of his sight. He would rejoin them in a few hours. Until then, he would mentally and physically prepare himself for possible clashes with the humans and perhaps even with the Guardians. "I will avenge all of the vampires that have been slaughtered by the humans." he thought to himself. He then slept, wakizashi in hand, ready for combat the second he awoke.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Volrath awoke, hearing the cries of battle off in the distance. He leaped from treetop to treetop, prayiing he could reach his fellow vampires in time. He heard the cries die down and eventually stop, and he slowed his pace. After another hour of travelling he finally reached the vampire camp.

He looked down from his location on a lower branch on a tree and saw guardian's dead body on the ground. "I've never killed a guardian. This one looks strong, most likely highly respected by the other Guardians," he thought to himself. He jumped down from the limb next to the body. Luckily all the other vampires had moved away from it seeing as how it had no more blood. But he was not looking for blood,"I have heard that the Guardians armors and weapons are of nearly mythical proportions. Crafted magically, they will change depending on who wields them. All just a rumor, but perhaps it is true." he thought to himself, as he picked up the dead Guardian's Katana. It felt unnaturally heavy to him as he lifted it from it's sheath on the guardian's back. He slide his fingers over the blade. It felt crisp and cool. "This man indeed must have killed several highly respected vampires at some time." he thought to himself. He finally placed both hands on the hilt, ready to truly test the blade. He turned to the tree he had seen the Guardian's dead body from and point the blade at it. A seemingly ancient tree, it mast of had a radius of over half a dozen feet. He held the blade to his side and jammed it against the tree. It went through it like a knife through butter, but nothing seemed to happen...at first. After several seconds of waiting, the tree split in two, landing next to Volrath. "This katana seems so unwieldy in combat. Perhaps if I practiced with it for several hours it would seem more reasonable to use.".

He looked back at the Guardian's dead body, wondering if there was anything else he could use from it. He walked closer and checked beneath his robe and saw the Guardian's armor. He took the cuirass off and felt it's weight. "This is far too heavy. But perhaps this armor could be melted down in small doses and reinforce my leather armor." He retrieved the items he needed to begin melting down the cuirass from the Wilderness and began working.

---------------------------------------------------

After several hours of working on melting down the armor, he had finally succeeded. He took off his leather armor and slit a small hole into one side with a wakizashi. He took a small amount of the melted armor and placed it inside the small hole of the leather and paded it with his hands to make a skin of metal. He then took some thread from the Guardian's clock and reattached the slits. He repeated the process with his other pauldron, his bracers, greaves, boots, and cuirass. He finally put on his new leather armor and his black cloak and hood on above it, hiding his readjustments. He grabbed his wakizashis and the Guardian's katana. The burden immediately set in on Volrath. He knew that he could only have either the Guardian's katana or his wakizashis. He sat in thought for a moment, deciding which weapon would benefiet him more. "I will never have the specialty that I have with the wakizashis for the katana," he thought to himself,"But perhaps I can use the katana to reinforce my wakizashis."

-------------------------------------------------------

Nearly dawn, Volrath had coated his wakizashis with the odd material the katana was made of. His wakizashis felt just as light as previously. He then used one of the Guardian's tools to sharpen the blades to perfection. "Let's try this again." Volrath thought to himself, in front of two other trees. Using each of his wakizashis he slit both trees in half, in the same fashion as the earlier time. "Perfect. Perhaps now I can finally rival some of the mightier Guardians." he thought to himself. He sheathed his wakizashis, feeling no burden this time. He continued to travel as he had to the sight of the killings, only this time in hope of finding Xiton and the rest of the vampires.

OOC:We'll just say that he believes that it is the Guardian's true armor. After all, like the post said, he had never killed a Guardian before, most likely meaning he never saw one (considering my character essentially kills anything that he sees). Besides, it was just an excuse to make my character stronger. I want him to at least be able to survive a little bit of player character on player character combat, without needing a swarm of five dozen vampires to help him. Moving on though:

---------------------------------------------------------

Volrath had been travelling for several hours. It was nearly noon, and he did not enjoy the prospect of being caught extremely weak by the enemies. If just a small bit of sun hit his skin, he would be significantly weaker for the next few hours. He jumped from treetop to treetop for several more minutes, finally seeing the path the vampires took. He sighed,"They're still several hours ahead of me. Better get moving." he said to himself, feeling that no matter how much is new armor and blades improved his combat prowress, he lost too much time in making them. He continued moving, though this time he decided he might as well save himself a good hour and move a bit faster then earlier. Volrath thought as he travelled for the next few hours. "I don't understand why the Guardians hate us so and we hate them with a vengeance. We don't seem as different as we make ourselves out to be."

----------------------------------------------------------

Volrath finally saw a small pack of vampires, apparently who had fallen behind. He was drawing near. "Finally, after a few more minutes of travelling I will hopefully be with Xiton." He moved on, as fast as his body could take him. He finally reached the rest of the vampires. He looked around seeing none looked wounded or hurt at all. "They must've not been very damaged by the Guardian's assault or....something else must've killed those Guardians." He pushed the thought to the back of his mind, not wanting any more problems to deal with, to think about. Losing the vampiric city was bad enough, attempting to wage war against a third enemy was worse.

Volrath was still in the trees when he finally reached the lead of the group of vampires, Xiton. He lept out of the trees, and quickly joined his proper place. Xiton seemed to eye him suspiciously. "Where have you been, boy?" he asked in a stern voice.

"I was wounded after freeing Ulid, sir. I was recovering from my wounds before I caught up to you here." replied Volrath. Xiton looked away, seemingly satisfied with his response. Volrath sighed. "Xiton, he's a great mentor to the vampires. He inspires fear and respect into the ranks. We're lucky to have a leader such as him." Volrath thought to himself. Volrath continued you, but tried to keep inconspiciously away from Xiton. "I don't think the other vampires, namely Xiton, would be happy to know that I used Guardian materials to improve my weapons and armor." he thought to himself. "Regardless of how greatly they may have improved. I'll continue with Xiton and other vampires until a suitable challenge arises to test this new equipment on."

ooc: it is not traditional for a gaurdian to don his full armor unless marching to war although they would were lighter protection at other times..

OOC: To Enisis: I agree entirely, you are nowhere near my power! shiftyph34r.gif
To Dagger: I think all PvP is evenly matched anyway... But still, you are nowhere near my power! shiftyph34r.gif
To MDRud216: It would be a big help if you had something happen at Mt. Tatu, but its all good.

IC: Slowly, Kin'sharion made his way from the hall. He was positive that he had made his point clear to all present, especially Kelar. Now he would have simmilar things to do with the others. If only he knew...

Something faint caught his attention and diverted his thoughts. A distant call for help somewhere south... He could feel it, but he couldn't make out the words or the location, only that something had happened. No one else was in the hall around him, so he couldn't be sure if he was the only one that felt it or not. Quickly, he sent out the message, I have felt something, a disturbance in magic.. Someone has been trying to communicate with us, but have failed to do so for some reason or another.. Am I the only one?

OOC:Shadow, the confidence, it burns my retinas.

IC:Volrath and the horde of vampires had been travelling for many hours now. They could feel their power return to them as the sun set behind them. Knowing that the Guardians are also stronger in the night, Volrath knew this to be a prime time for Guardian raid parties to attack. He shifted his eyes away from the other vampires to the shadows, using his slightly improved vision to see if he could see anyone. "Nothing." he thought to himself, as he jumped over the group of vampires to the other side, to check that sides shadows. He searched, but in all in vain. He continued moving forward, with the other vampires. He swiftly leaped to Xiton. "Sir, did your party kill several Guardians?" he asked Xiton inquisitively.

"Yes several. They didn't do any damage to us." Xiton replied calmly.

"But...sir, what if they sent a telepathic message to the other Guardians?" Volrath asked. He gulped. "This is the first time I've ever truly been afraid in my life. No wonder the humans hate it."

Xiton turned to Volrath,"Are you questioning the vampires military prowress?" he asked in a dangerous tone.

"Not at all sir, I'm just saying that we tend to swarm the enemy using overwhelming nu..."

"Swarm? How dare you consider it our only military tactic." Xiton interjected. Xiton turned to Volrath, causing all of the vampires to stop dead in their tracks. "If you insult our species abilities one more time in my presence, I will strike you dead." Xiton said sternly. Volrath gulped and moved away.

"It seems I am not among as many friends as I hoped." Volrath thought to himself. Volrath heard an unnatural rustling of trees. He set his hand out,"Odd, no wind." he thought to himself, looking to his left where the sound had come from. He jumped into the shadows of the underbrush and began stalking the sound. After several minutes of freneticly moving from tree branch to tree branch, attempting to be as quiet as he could be, he finally saw what he had heard. A Guardian, most likely a scout. He followed it in silence for the next several minutes. He finally found himself at a dimly light Guardian camp. He looked down and saw about a 20 man Guardian raid party, ready to attack the vampires.

"Relay the message to Mt. Tatu. W....vampire raid....Killed men. Yes...stolen materials. We attack at dawn." he heard in a mumble as jumped from his branch deep into the underbrush. "Mt. Tatu. I had always wondered where the Guardians worked out of." he thought to himself, but then looked back to the camp, returning to reality. "I'll have to move like the wind in order to kil them all. Luckily, I think I might just be able to do that." he thought to himself, silently drawing his wakizashis. He leaped from the shadows, onto the nearest Guardian. "I cannot waste time drinking their blood, talking, even thinking" Volrath said to himself. He unleashed a flurry of thrusts and stabs, too fast for the human eye to see. But it all seemed in slow motion to him. Half of the Guardians dropped dead, leaving Volrath with a much more managable size.

"How did his blades become that powerful." he heard one scream, in awe of the speed at which Volrath had decimated the entire camp.

"It's...only one vampire. Only a horde of vampires could've done that." another one said to himself. The others had vengeance on their mind. They all made a run for Volrath, ready to kill.

"I'll prove to them I'm different from the other vampires in another way." he thought to himself, standing stone still before assault. The nearest one had a spear and jammed it straight into Volrath's gut.

"Wha..." he said to himself as it was brushed off by his armor as barely more a scratch. "This armor is good, but several godlike blows from a mighty Guardian will most likely destroy it." Volrath thought to himself, happy to see there didn't seem to be any very powerful Guardians here. He jumped onto the tip of the Guardian's spear and ran towards him. The Guardian opened his mouth in awe...as Volrath pushed the wakizashi down his throat. He withdrew it from the Guardian's mouth as he fell dead on the floor. He unsheated his second wakizashi and threw it at another Guardian, hitting the center chest. He saw the ones that had been in comeplete havoc when he arrived were finally organizing thereselves. He leapt toward them and slit both their throats. He slowly turned and saw obviously the five weakest (and most foolish) vampires run to him in unison. He jumped towards the one in the center and used a swift uppercut to subdue him. He then slashed to his left, killing two others. He jammed his blade into the other two Guardian's skulls and turned to the shadows, where the strongest stayed.

He walked slowly towards him as the Guardian who unsheathed his halbierd. "This guy must be 6'4" Volrath thought to himself. The man thrust at him with his weapon and aimed for his armor. One strike on his cuirass dented it so much that it was now hindering him more then helping him. He struck again, this time going through the armor comepletely. He seemed to jumped forward at him, left hand still on his weapon, and kick Volrath in the face. Volrath fell to the floor in anguish. He looked up to see his killer fade away in the mist.

Volrath awoke several minutes later. "What the hell was that?" Volrath thought to himself,"It must've been a vision of how I'll....die." Volrath said to himself. The idea of death had never come to Volrath again. He looked the sky, seeing the gods, praying for help and guidance. He looked around and saw 19 Guardian bodies on the floor, missing his killer. "So it was all just an illusion." he thought to himself. He turned to the nearest body and began sucking it's blood. At first the Guardian blood seemed to burn his tongue, but as his body obtained more of the blood, it seemed to get sweet. He drained all 19 bodies dry of blood. "No wonder all of us vampires love Guardian blood." Volrath thought to himself.

Volrath had nearly reached the end of the forest when he was pulled down by several stronger Guardians. "I'm screwed. Screwed.." he thought to himself as they took him away.

OOC:Now it goes better with your post Shadow.
Shadow of the Fallen
OOC:... Wasn't there a "don't go kill a whole raid party by yourself" rule? Meh.. Nobody said I couldn't cause trouble using my influence over massive hoards of gaurdians... BAHAHAHA.. shiftyph34r.gif

IC: Just as Volrath was about to breech the treeline and rejoin his vampire friends, he felt something around his leg. Looking down, he realised he was only too late, and with a grunt his feet were pulled from beneath him. Now prone and vulnerable, several guardians that had been working on the fringes of the camp and the larger one that had "killed" him earlier lept atop him and began to bind him. Each face was hard and angry, every one of the Gaurdians spitting on him at one point in time. Apparently, he had done a great disservice to them by killing their comrades.

One of the guardians spoke to the larger one while the others gagged Volrath and dragged him roughly to the middle of the camp. He was addressed as "Altarus," and you could tell they were speaking of the moving Vampires only a short distance away, yet still out of earshot. There was no fires in the camp, nor tents, only supplies dropped in the brush surrounding a small clearing in which several larger stashes of supplies had been camoflauged with branches and shrubs.

Without allowing you further chance to look around, the large guardian signaled the others with a wave of his hand. Two of the four behind you drew their bastard swords while the other two removed the gag and made sure you were securely fastened down. They were undoubtedly good at making sure you would not be able to get assistance or get away...

Altarus stepped forward, the man who had spoken with him earlier only a step behind. In a stern voice, he addressed Volrath, "Tell me Vampire, where were you headed?"
Dagger of Symachus
OOC:I wasn't aware of the anti raid party killings, but ok, I suppose their should be negative rammifications for killing 20 Guardian NPCs.

IC:"Lucky for these Guardians I'm not in the best state with the vampires." Volrath thought to himself. The larger Guardian stepped forward,"Tell me vampire, where were you head?" he asked in a stern voice.

"We were heading to another underground city or Mt. Tatu." Volrath quickly replied. "Why am I terrifed?" he thought to himself, then realization shot through his body and he layed errect, remember this Guardian was the one who killed him in his dream.

"Why, don't you all ready have a vampire city?" the Guardian asked, impatient.

"Another vampire city, it got burned down by the humans. We left in fear of our city being destroyed. We also thought we might head to Mt. Tatu, your base it seems like. We thought you might be working in unison with the humans." Volrath quickly replied.

Volrath heard the Guardian mumbling, what sounded like "What now, Kin'sharion?" "Telepathic communication, eh? It would be a bit useful if we could do that." he thought to himself. "Luckily these Guardians seem to have a sense of honor. If they don't let me go, then at least they won't kill me unarmed. I just pray that the Guardian isn't as strong as he was in the dream." Volrath waited silently, wondering what would happen next.
Shadow of the Fallen
"Kill him," the gaurdian replied, walking away quickly.

OOC: Lucky for you, I'm joking.. Note that there is no need to speak the words when communicating telepathically, and even a shout as was called out by the two gaurdians on horses barely reached Mt. Tatu from the distance. As I remember, you were on the other side of the map and heading to another Vampire city. Also, your going to have to play your cards right to get out of this, and while I am reluctant to actually kill you, I'm sure it would be reasonable to.. *ahem* put you out of commision for a while. wink.gif

IC: "Liar!" The Gaurdian said in an angry whisper. The two that had drawn their blades brought them dangerously close to Volrath's unprotected neck. "Another false word from you and it will bring your end, I garentee it." He held up his haleberd menacingly, "now answer me, what are you scum doing out of your rat hole and where are you headed?! Speak!"

OOC: Shadow, Makura may be no challenge for you, but Elratha is MY character. Dagger, looks like you found some of Elratha's handiwork (the guardian katana).

Elratha and Makura docked on a smaller pier a few miles south of the main sea landing at Mt. Tatu. After unloading all of their gear onto a cart, they walked through a canyon area that met up with the main path after about five miles. They would be entering the southernmost gate of Mt. Tatu.

"Ah, it feels good to be back in the shadow of the great mountain Makura." Elratha spoke after some time in silence. "I have not been here in many years, but I feel we are on the verge of a massive war with the vampires. Our full force against theirs, a battle we haven't seen for ages!"

OOC: Gotta leave on short notice, I'll be back in a few hours (hopefully) to finish the post.
Dagger of Symachus
OOC: Challenge! Challenge! *Runs around room playfully*

IC:Volrath looked the Guardian in the eyes. "How about a trade? I tell you everything I know about the vampiric campaign and you can banish me to the Sea of Sands. A honest trade, to be broken would break your honor?" Volrath asked inquisitively. "I can survive the sea of sands, thought it would be a living hell." he thought to himself. He prayed the Guardian would agree to the trade.
Shadow of the Fallen
OOC: Meh... Him neither.

IC: No sooner had the words left Elratha then he felt more pour into his mind, Elratha, Makura, come quickly to my chambers.. I have need of news from the outside. The voice was clearly Kin'sharion's, full of pain and worry.

his feet dangling 4 feet from the bed of leaves on the ground and his back up against a tree the vampire screamed in agony.
"You saw the Gaurdians! how amny were there?!" Xiton yelled pushing the blade deeper through the vampire and into the tree where he was pinned.
"Many-" he screamed again as xiton made a sawing motion in his gut with the blade. "Volrath, he slaughtered them...." his fading voice trailed off again, "before he was bound, four gaurdians, at least." Xiton smiled, and removed the blade swiftly sending the bleeding vampire to the ground yelling in agony.
"that wasn't so bad, was it Hurod?" Xiton said to the cowering vampire. "next time you will come to me first, or the blade will be through your skull." Xiton turned away from his victim and hollered out to move on, "set rear gaurd, every gaurdian within 30 miles knows we are here!" and the vampires started off again, now at a tremendous pace through the trees.

ooc: yah twenty gaurdians, the idea was that 5 vampires could swarm and take out a gaurdian but I will allow it this time... also you seemed to forget that the gaurdians will have had the same armor you did hehe.

----------------------------------------------------------------

A hideous form crept through through the night, its presence alone vanished all animals from its path as it journeyed. The cold was unbearable, and the air so thin it was unbreathable by mortal beings. It left no prints in the snow as it wound its way up into the highest areas of the mountains. Far behind and below it lay the Sea of Sands, its birth place. At last it came to a sheer cliff, a change from the steep climb he had maintained for weeks to get to this point. Effortlessly itplacede its claws into the ice and began to scale the vertical face.

At last, after months since setting out it had reached the highest peak of these mountains. It was still night but from his place atop the mountain he could see daylight beyond the horizon in any direction. To the far north easty he could see a colossal form, The largest mountain in the world... in any world. It rested in the center of Ghaldor's Desolation and was the majestic, terrifying creation of the vampiric gods that had scarred this once beutiful land. The records, kept within the great Mt. Tatu, told of that time before the desolation of Mormura and before the great destruction. But as it knew, not all things within that library were true...

Finished with his musings at the peak he casually knelt to his fours and with a great bound jumped from the peak, when his cold grip felt ice again he was running down a near vertical slope towards sea level. He could feel the air thickening and oxygen reentering his blood, he felt empowered as he descended.
Shadow of the Fallen
Altarus' ears pricked up at a sudden sound. He waved his hand in motion for silence and waited for the sound again. It came, a sudden cry of agony from the vampire Xiton was extracting information from. Quickly he turned back to the other gaurdians and the unanswering Volrath. He had to make a quick decision or this would be the end of them all..

It only took a moment to brood over the matter, and he came to the decision with ease. "Put a knife in him and toss him into the lake over yonder. Leave him bound," he ordered to two of the Gaurdians. The other two he gave a solid look but said nothing. Volrath could clearly see that he was communicating with them telepathically. After a short moment, they nodded and ran off to do as he had told them. Then he himself turned back to the camp and began selecting several items out of the supplies as Volrath was hauled away.

When the vampire was gone, Altarus finnaly had the moment to himself.. A moment to consider the best choice of attack. He would rather have his commanding officer about, but he had been slain by that foul creature's first wave of attacks. He had seen it move like lightning among his brethren, though he knew it was a one time thing. No vampire was ever ment to be that powerful.

He glanced once again at the map in his hand. The vampire hoard was between the four camps set up in the area, yet there was too many of them to take on in the darkness. The warriors of Mt. Tatu would strike at dawn, when the enemy had least expected it.. And they would have to rely on the protection of their robes against the scorching sun. If only the elders had decided to send reinforcements.. But how would they have known that all of Xiton would be on the move?

------------------------------------------------------

Cold didn't best describe the water, it was frigid. Like a thousand pinpricks of broken glass stabbing into every corner of Volrath's body, he felt it. And yet it did not compare to the knife still lodged in his gut. They had thrown him in head first, dulling his senses as he hit the freezing waters, so now all the agony was dulled and muddled in his mind.. Slowly, things seemed as though they were slipping away as his body gradually numbed and succumbed to this watery grave. Things went black.

A moment later, Volrath found himself on the distant shore of the lake. Or it at least seemed only a moment. There was no telling how long he had been unconcious, but it was dark. It was possible that it was still the same night. He found his weapons and armor as intact as it had been when he was thrown off that rock and into the waters, but the knife had somewhere slipped into the cold abyss.
Dagger of Symachus
OOC:*Sigh* I really have to RP more.

IC:Volrath awoke on the beach. He looked down and saw a large, gapping hole in his gut. "That'll slow me down" he thought to himself. He stood up. As long as it wasn't too late, he could alert the vampires fully of at least one Guardian camps position. Hopefully that camp also had the location of the others, if there were any. Too bad he would have to go through at least one Guardian camp in order to get to his vampire camp. He would have to travel around the lake, for fear of being knocked unconscious (or even hypothermia). He quickly retrieved his weapons and armor and place them in their appropiate location. He began the long trek to the Guardian camp.

-----------------------------------------------

After several hours of travelling, Volrath had finally reached the Guardian camp. He knew he would have to set a trap, somehow to lure away several of the Guardians, seeing how their numbers had increased. He silently ran into the Wilderness and grabbed the needed materials. He then started a fire, a quarter of a mile to the west of the camp. He then waited silently to see the Guardian's reactions.

OOC:Just made it go along with your post a little bit.
Shadow of the Fallen
OOC: Mistake #1, godplay. Nowhere in there did I have an opportunity to command my troops, and had I the opportunity, I would have done things differently.

Mistake #2, if you made note of how I described the camp, it was designed to be well hidden and easy to travel with. Welding equipment in cumbersome and heavy, not very well suited to quick travel. Therefore, there would not have been any weilding equipment about.. And so there was no "forest fire".

Mistake #3, (if you want I could go on for most of the night) those who follow Kin'sharion know a deep sense of honor toward vampires and they give them the most esteemed reward--a quick death. You are lucky that they are, as you say, "young and untrained"; if it was Kin'sharion in person, you would have been asked questions after you were dead.

Mistake #4, the lake was REALLY cold. If it knocked you out after only being submerged for a few moments, then you would not have survived the trip across.

I'm sure I could find a few more things if I tried, but all in all don't take it to harshly.. Just bringing some things to your attention... Now then, lets begin with the fire. And please treat combat with Altarus as PvP and the normal troops as semi-PvP. That means give them a chance to respond instead of simply stating what happens.

IC: The number of guardians had increased since last you saw them. Actually, it had more then doubled. There was just under a dozen gaurdians scattered about the camp area now, spread out and hidden in the brush and shrubs. Were it not for your keen vampiric eyes, they would have been invisible. You saw Altarus standing near where he had questioned you, acompanied by two other men, the shorter of which you recognized as his counsil from eariler. They seemed to be communicating telepathically about something because of their geastures, but you couldn't tell what.

Suddenly, they turned around toward the direction of the fire, watching as the smoke signal rose up into the sky. One of the men made a movement to go, but Altarus held him back.. He could feel that something was up, but you could tell that he couldn't quite get his finger on it... Then it clicked. Only one fire and it was in the wrong direction. The main vampire hoard was to the east a ways. It had to be a trap, no mistaking it.

Silently, they all began to move, gathering a little closer to Altarus but still spread out enough so they wouldn't be caught off guard...

Above you, the sudden sound of rustling forwarned you of death, and as you looked up, you could see the ominous black wraith of a Gaurdian and his gleaming bastard sword as he dropped in on you from a low branch.

OOC: Now lets see what you do excl.gif
Dagger of Symachus
OOC:Is suicide a viable option?

IC:Volrath watched in awe as every Guardian turned in his direction. "They couldn't have detected me....right?" he thought to himself. He heard a rustling from above. He looked up just in time as a Guardian lept down, bastard sword in hand. "It's too fast for me to draw my weapon." he thought to himself, as he positioned his left bracer between the weapon and his neck, though the force of the assault dented his bracer and pushed Volrath against the ground. He rolled on the ground to a nearby hollowed out log, knowing he only had a few seconds. He drew his wakizashis and cut a hole through the top of the log jumping out.

OOC:First player character vs player character combat or er....player character vs player character controling assault squad of NPCs, so I don't know exactly how long I should go before letting you control your troops, so I'm just letting you now.
Shadow of the Fallen
OOC: While I should tell you, "death is never the answer!!" you are a vampire, and thus my enemy.. So I'll go with this instead, "yes."

And btw, "the force of the assault" should have lopped his arm off tongue.gif but I'll let it slide.

IC:
The gaurdians blade gleamed again as he rushed toward Volrath, his teeth clenched and his eyes intent. Behind him, the others were following his lead, drawing steel as they closed in on you.. But the man before you was your immediate threat, his blade already arcing for your head.

OOC: A little more then that is good.. I had longer, but it just mysteriously dissappeared all of a sudden... Oh well..

Let is also be known that 10 vampires is the equivalent of 1 swing of Kin'sharion's Haleberd. biggrin.gif
Dagger of Symachus
OOC:How about we say 8 vampires equals one swing from Altarus, five for every average Guardian. Fair trade off, eh?

IC: Volrath saw the Guardian rushing towards him as he prepared to attack. His left hand was weakened severely from his bracer, but he could not discard it. He turned toward the Guardian and jumped into the air, flipping once, hitting the Guardians left eye. He landed on a branch about 10 ft. off the ground and began climbing the tree, leaping from branch to branch.

OOC:I also have Guardian armor used to reinforce it. It's not all leather anymore. But I'll make sure that it hinders Volrath's combat potential. I'll have to use his right hand at all times, if possible.
Shadow of the Fallen
OOC: You're screwed bub..
IC:
Part of the squad chases you on foot, perhaps 2 or 3, while several others you do not have the chance to count are moving silently through the tree branches below you. For not possessing your innate speed, they are all doing well to keep up with you.

------------------------------------------

Back at Mt. Tatu, Kin'sharion found the door to his chambers and entered, awaiting the arrival of Elrath and Makura. He sensed, somehow, that things were rapidly getting out of controll, and soon there would be chaos throughout the land. But as his mind strained to process these things, he grew weary. And it was nearly the night's end...
Dagger of Symachus
OOC:Glad to see you have such faith in me.

IC:Volrath quickly looked down, seeing several Guardians climbing the branches ready to attack. He looked franticly around, searching for someway out. He saw the fire in the distance. "If anything, it will at least give me a minor advantage, and if I can lure them away, perhaps I can get through to the rest of the vampires." he thought to himself as he jumped from the top of his current tree to a nearby one. "I'll have to stay off the ground. The Guardians have too good of a hold there". he thought, as he jumped from tree to tree to the fire. "Let's pray I don't get caught on ground with combat, or I am screwed."
Shadow of the Fallen
IC: Volrath's thoughts were cut short but a rush of wind near his face. Then a volley of arrows that ripped through the tree and found home in branches in the hard bark. Apparently, the raid force was a bit larger then he had expected, and they had sentries and scouts posted along the routes to their camps and around them..

Suddenly, the fire wasn't looking like such a good idea as the hail of arrows continued to zip past.
Dagger of Symachus
IC:Volrath slide down the tree,"I'll have to destroy or at least damage those archers first." he thought to himself as he sprinted to the nearest one. He flipped over him and in mid jump slit the small area between his helm and cuirass. "It wasn't strong enough." he said to himself as the archer stood back up, seemingly unharmed by the attack. He ran towards the nearest tree and began jumped up from branch to branch, in an attempt for cover from the archers, and the soon to arrive ground forces.

Kin' Sharion waited in the windowless room, he could feel the presences of both elratha and makura yet they had yet to enter the mountain. You can feel a stronger presence however, seeping in from the craks under the door and the spaces between the boards, slowely it is filling the room around you... but as you turn you see no one, nothing.

"Kin!" a familiar voice inside your head fills your thoughts, the presence is now clear as you remember the old days, Kin was what the eldest always called you, and with that almost cheerful tone it was surely a sign of good news. "Kin' Sharion, I have good news for you..." and before the thought had faded the doors open behind you, a familiar figure in the doorway. Recent events have made a need for a reconsideration of our earlier decision... as it is clear to me, the vampiric city of Xiton is moving, similar things have been reported from other scouts that have arrived in the last few days." The Eldest paused to let his telepathaic words sink in... then in a bold and unhiding voice he anounced: "The Gaurdians will go to War!"
Shadow of the Fallen
OOC: The room is made of stone... All stone... And if he's supposed to seem a bit of his rocker let me know, because this could just as easily be you shoving us into battle instead of waiting on whatever else it was that you were going to do.

IC:
Kin'sharion was stunned by the words at first, but a slow, grim smile crept over his face after a few moments. But it was just as quickly replaced with suspicion. Why the sudden change of attitude? Why is he, for gods know what reason, cheerful about it? WHY IS HE EVEN OUT OF BED??

"I thought your wounds were grevious and would take time to heal," he stated flatly. "And yes, we must strike the vampires while they are out of their hole and out in the wilds... But is a full scale war nessecary?"

--------------------------------------------

Pain ripped into Volrath's mind as an arrow ripped into his leg. Things were looking bleak..
Dagger of Symachus
Volrath saw the the closest Guardian archer and leaped from his perch on the tree and aimed his blade for the Guardian's eyes. He hit the left eye, temporarily blinding the archer as he screamed in agony. Volrath then executed a swift uppercut, blinding the archer. "He's blinded, but not dead." he thought to himself as he riped out the arrow from his leg. He saw the Guardians bow and arrows, and took them as he writhed in pain and confusion on the ground. He saw another archer and began aiming for their neck.
Shadow of the Fallen
(By now, one would think, you would understand that I'm not going to let one vampire kill a whole squadron of guardians, and if you do not run you will not survive.. I let you off the hook at the lake, but you just wouldn't give up. dry.gif )

Unfortunatly, that archer and the one next to him already had their arrows nocked, and they launched before you could bring the bow to the ready. The first arrow ripped through your shoulder and caused a backlash that allowed the other to only graze your forhead. Were it not timed perfectly, you would already be dead, and the though caught up with you as you fell backward from the force of the blow. The guardians that had followed you were quickly gaining ground, their weapons raised high, and the one you had blinded was flailing about madly with a dagger he pulled from his belt.

Amidst the chaos, you could also sense that you were about to become a pincushion. The bow you had confiscated was dropped in the brush as you fell, and it would take a few minutes to find it again. Time to think quick.

"The city Faortinber, is an imporatnt location in the world of men, if it were to fall to the vampires there army of 2000 men, would be 2000 more vampires to plague the world." He paused to see if his old friend had renewed his 'happiness'.

"why are you suspicious of me Kin', I have known you since before the deslolation, and I know that more than anything these past years of passivness that you have wanted to go to war, to strike vengence on those that we were made to strike vengeance upon." Before you can reply Kelar and the other 4 gaurdians of the council step in behind the eldset...

Kelar speaks to you, "we did not include you Kin' Sharion, for we already knew your position on the matter."
Dagger of Symachus
OOC:Might as well end this now before I get killed.

IC:Volrath saw the other Guardians charging towards him about 10 feet away. He saw a large stick and decided it was his best chance. He grabbed the stick when the stampede was about five feet from him. He ran towards them with all the speed left in his body and jammed the stick into the ground and poll vaulted over the Guardians. He then made a mad dash to the vampire camp.
Shadow of the Fallen
Kin'sharion's suspicion slowly fades at the sight of the other council members, at least from the outside. "While you were correct in your assumptions, I dislike the fact that you did not even send word of a meeting to me... But that can be forgiven. If we are to be of any aid to Faortinber, then I must rally the army at once. There is no time to waste.." He turned to look over his shoulder, his battle array resting silently at the altar, "we leave immediatly."

OOC: A wise decision Volrath, I congratulate you on your wisdom. wink.gif

IC: This time, the Guardians recognized the direction in which he was headed, and dashed quickly after him in hopes of slaying the wounded vampire before he could relay to the others. Their chase failed, their arrows only glancing the agile figure and their feet unable to keep up. They eventually gave up and began to scatter once more in preperation for battle, though the vampire knew little of their plans there.

"I failed in my mission, but I did survive." Volrath thought to himself as he slid through the underbrush into the vampire camp. There were a mob of vampires around the center of the camp which held Xiton and the other highly respected vampires. He limped towards them as he took out all the arrows from his body. The vampires quickly moved out of the way knowing that he was the only vampire that was outside of their camp. He moved towards Xiton. "Xiton, I was outside of the camp looking for potential attack routes the Guardians may take." he said quickly to Xiton.

"Really. Did you gather any information?" he asked as he assessed Volrath and saw the large hole in his gut and several smaller holes from arrows.

"I could not find any information on where they will attack from, but they attack at dawn, Xiton." he replied.

"I would have expected more from "Volrath the Guardian Slayer". Regardless of the fact that you killed so many Guardians you still failed to gather nearly any information? Your a pathetic excuse for a vampire. You have lost all of my respect. Go to the outer circle of the camp and protect us from there." Xiton replied coldy.

Volrath wandered to the edge of the camp ready to take his position at dawn. Until then he would lick his wounds using minor herbs from what he could find inside the camp.
Shadow of the Fallen
OOC: There was no way you could have known that they would attack at dawn... But I will let it slide once more (seeing as I can't really do anything about it).

IC: By the time Volrath had reached the outer circle, the blazing circle of fire known as the sun had risen in signal of dawn, and still no attack had been made. The camp slowly began to tire and found themselves sleeping quickly. Only a few sentries, including the unfortunate Volrath, had been disallowed the priviledge of rest... And were the first to see, in the light of the late burning dawn, the destruction unfold.

Altarus' troops materialized out of th forest with lightning speed. Without a word, they slew sentries in passing, cutting off their agonized cries before they could wake their brethren. They didn't attack from any one direction, but instead they came from all sides, pressing in quickly to suffocate the vampire army.

When they broke the treeline unopposed, they unanimously shouted into the camp, "For the the true gods, hell to the enemies of light!" And began to slay their still groggy foe as the vampires rose from their interrupted sleep. The ring of steel and the spray of blood began to fill the camp.

(your move, Volrath)

Volrath jumped out of the way as a bastard sword rammed into the ground next to him. He was caught in the chaos of the battle. The sword struck down again, this time grazing the back of his cloack riping it off. It revealed Volrath's face which was heavily scarred from all the combat he had endured and the entire left side showed signs of heavy burning. The Guardian that was attacking him seemed to gasp, seeing how heavily scarred Volrath was for his age, but continued attack him. "These dented bracers are effecting my combat potential too much." he said to himself as he riped off his left and right bracer. He then drew his wakizashis as he leaped into the air to dodge the Guardians next assault. In mid air he slashed at the Guardian's eyes, blinding him. "Now for the fin..." he thought to himself before hearing vampire screams off in the distance. "The Guardian lives....for now." he said to himself as he sprinted into the distance to deal with the other threats.
Shadow of the Fallen
There was no shortage of targets for the 100+ Guardians attacking the camp, most of them still on the ground, and it was easy for every one of them to claim at least three lives before they vampires could put up a shallow defense. With every arc of their blades, another was felled, their only mercy being a swift death.
Dagger of Symachus
Volrath sprinted towards the screams and saw three Guardians slaughtering sleeping vampires. "Let's test how much I've healed." he said to himself as he ran to the nearest Guardian. He saw Volrath before he could strike and brought his bastard sword down on him, praying to split his head in half. Volrath unsheathed his wakizashis and blocked the attack with one and jammed the blade of the other into the small crease between the Guardian's greaves and boots. He fell on the ground and writhed with pain, though Volrath knew that he would get up in a moment. A wave or pain rippled through his left forarm as an arrow struke it. He roared with pain as he riped it out of his arm and prepared to block as the other two Guardians ran to him. He blocked ones attack and jumped out of the way of the others, just as the first Guardian stood up and prepared to engage Volrath in combat once again.

The Wilderness

Xiton was one of the first to wake, and a grim smile crosses his face as he began running toward what seemed tobe the largest concentration of gaurdians, he sensed 20 or 30 gaurdians spread through the trees. He felt quite tired, and stayed within the shadows to avoid being burned, but through his centuries of 'life' he had become accustumed to daywalking.

Just as he was bearing down on a gaurdian he launched himself into the trees, breaking off a branch while pearched on a lower one. The guardian on the ground heard, and saw) Xiton, but no effort would deflect his attack as he leaped to the ground with the broken branch pointed towards the bracing gaurdian. The point of the broken end stabbed through the gaurdians neck and thw weight of the vampire holding it forced him to the ground, bleeding.

Xiton, stood from his kneeling position over the wounded gaurdian, the branch through his neck pinning him to the soft earth. Xiton strolled in a circle around the gaurdian, "what do you want me to do, Protector?"

Through gurgling and spitting of blood the gaurdian spoke, "I shall not fall." the words were confident and made Xiton laugh.
"oh really?" he scoffed and threw a stone at the gaurdian with all of his strength. "and if i was to do this-" Xiton lunged at the pinned gaurdian, flying through air with incredibal speed, his mouth open wide, fangs glistening.
With a movement nearly to fast for a mortal to perceive the gaurdian pulled the branch from his neck and knocked Xiton to the ground, quickly standing and drawing his bastard sword.
"who scoffs now?" the gaurdian says pressing the bastard sword into Xitons chest. A grim smile crossed the vampires face as the blade peirced his body, he climbed up the blade, even as it peirced through him into the ground. Xitons claws slashed in the gaurdians face and as he fell backward into the dirt he was surrounded and consumed by lesser vampires that had arrived.
Xiton pulled the blade from his gut and threw it onto the feeding vampires, scattering them. "move you scum! I want to look upon my kill-"
