On the subject, what would every one like to see in the new Elder Scrolls? I know its a bit soon but it might make for some interesting discussion. Personally all I could ask for is some more sword variety (and by that I mean I just want a longsword I can hold two-handed tongue.gif). Also I'd like to see a main quest that isn't a let down. Anyone else have any thoughts or am I Mr. Topic killer?

Well, the Morrowind Forums seem pretty busy, and its been a little While since Morrowinds successor came out =)

When Elder Scrolls 5 comes out, there will be some People who think the "Improvements" and changes suck big time, so they'll keep playing Oblivion, same Thing happened when Oblivion came out and some People liked Morrowind better.

Or maybe the Threadstarter has secret Information of "Oblivion" spawning its own line of Spinof Sequels, appearantly, there will be at least five of them...

why would modding for TESIV fall by the wayside.Oblivion will have its followers just like morrowind, and I'll be one more than likely!

There are still people who mod for Morrowind, so the answer will be yes. Modding will continue to occur for older games as long as there is a sizable following and if the new game is not superior to the old game in every quality. Oblivion has many shortcomings compared to Morrowind, and there are plenty of threads on that subject to prove that point.

its all a matter of opinion,I played both and prefer oblivion by a long shot. There's also plenty of threads that prove oblivion is better. It's a moot point!

It is a matter of opinion, we can agree on that. My point is that there are enough people who think Oblivion has enough shortcomings compared to Morrowind to keep modding Morrowind. The thread is about the theory of modding rather than personal preference. However, I will give my opinion to clear up any misconceptions; I think Oblivion has the better engine with the physics engine, better graphics, and unique faces, however, I like the setting of Morrowind due to Great House politics.

Quite an interesting idea for a mod, though biggrin.gif

I suppose that Oblivion is not going to die among such a powerful modding community. Neither did Morrowind.
Nevertheless, I think the next part of this fabled cycle ought to be a success, too.

I dont think Oblivion is really MUCH better than Morrowind. I think they're basically equals. In details, they are very different, and certainly Oblivion has better graphics, much better customizeability of character looks (facegen), and other clear markings that is the younger game. But its not just obviously better. For example, Morrowind had spears, and levitation, and unarmored as combat style, and it required less ability with moving your character.

Many people who also play egoshooters claim that Oblivion is super easy, but I'm no such person, and for me, Oblivion is pretty hard in this respect.

If someone finds Oblivion easy they really are quite stupid because they should turn the difficulty up. I would concede that It doesn't require a lot of thought to play though. I think, that so long as TES5 is at least equal to OB i'll definately buy it. I still can't get the image of Mehrunes Dagon in a boxing ring with godzilla out of my head though. confused.gif
