I think either deadric Cresant or longbow because you have to know wher it are to find them.
Malchik

I am not sure I understand the reason behind this poll. As far as I can tell every item but the longsword is unique, therefore of equal rarity. Daedric longbows can be sourced in two ways, making them the least rare items.
Why did you choose these particular ten? Why not the Dragonbone Cuirass or the Scourge etc? In either case you have to know where it are to find them too!
IMO the Darksun Shield is the rarest item because except in certain circumstances it doesn't exist! Then there would be Spellbreaker Shield, Eltonbrand etc.
As for which is the best - there are other threads on that.

I just wanted the opinions of other morrowind players on what they felt was harder to obtain.
So, it not really the rarest but the most difficult to obtain.

I would have voted fro eltonbrand(bluebrand) but it wasn't there so i voted for the next closest thing, goldbrand. also, i was gonna pick azuras star but I was thinking of most valuable item, azuras star with a golden saint is 2 million and is who knows how much with vivec in it, thus making it the item worth the most in the entire game, expansions included.

May 27 2004, 02:10 AM
i have voted for none of the above simply because i personally think that the daedric tower shield is one of or 'the' hardest item in the game to get hold of.every other item you can get via a quest or exploring but the tower shield you have to be lucky...very lucky in fact to manage to find a golden saint carrying one!!
but then you still gota hope you havent overloaded yourself coz finding one of them in the middle of nowhere is a chore coz they're damn heavy!!
but thats just my oppinion

Daedric Face Of God (An ugly helmet, but rare and hard to find.)

I dont think Azuras star is difficult to obtain. The shrine of azura is on the map for petes sake. And i dont think doing jobs for someone is difficult either. although its really worht getting unless your an enchanter.

by a far the rarest item is the elton brand getting it is extremely complicated to get just look into it.

Jun 16 2004, 04:45 AM
The [hardest to get, I believed you meant] is easily Eltonbrand. Where as the other are there, or at the end of a quest, this one is so randomly difficult, I have yet to get it. And I've been playing for at least a year and a half now.
Malchik
Jun 16 2004, 08:39 AM
It is impossible to get Eltonbrand without spoiler info, Wesay. If you don't know that you'll never get the sword.

Technically they are all equily as rare since there is only one of each of the ones on the pole list. As for all of them you basically need to know where they are to find them. the items are each 1 out of all the items in the game. Some of which are harder to obtain. The umbra sword is the easiest to find since it is riht out side of a city. As for the wrath guard you do not need to know crap to get that since it is just plain off given t you by vivec (if you do the quest that is). As for the best item i would say it is the ebony mail since it is the strongest armor in the game. Also i think that the hopsfire (almalexia's swod) is the best weapon since it does alot of damge, is one handed, and stuns.

Goldbrand, because you have to wait for 3 weeks to obtain it, and I don't rest.

I agree with malchik in saying that the darksun shield is the rarest item.... but i also think that it is THE best shield in the game......save for the one i made

Nemocrancer..
The Dragonbone Cuirass is also quite hard even to reach, I don't how anyone could find it without using a walkthrough.

Buuuut, I read somewhere it's mentioned in a book, does anyone know what book this is?

Thank you for that. They're not just rare -they're unique- as in they're the only ones that exist.

It's mentioned in Yagrum Bagarn's (The corpulent Dwemer inmate at Tel Fyr) book listing all artifacts. I don't believe the book lists location, so you have to really be looking for it when you go into the ruin, or else you're likely to dismiss it as a well-locked hutch containing mundane loot.

Yes I've read Yargrum's book of listed artifacts, but the location of the Dragonbone Cuircass is not mentioned. It also says the cuircass did fire-damage.

Fire Damage? No. It resists fire- the enchantment is Resist Fire 100% Constant Effect.

i have to say that this is a good list of rarest items, but due to the fact that they are all artifacts or well known items it makes them almost easier to find. it brings across good Items but o well.

I think the rarest/hardest to obtain item is the Daedric Towershield. You have to be very lucky to find a Golden Saint using one.

Take out your paper map and locate the words ''Azura's Coast'' (It's far southeast on the map), west of those words you'll see Azura's Shrine. Go there!

(Taken from IGN)
Azura's Star
A reusable soul gem and the most expensive item in the
game if it has a soul in it (An Azura's Star with a Golden
Saint in it costs about 2,000,000 drakes).
How to get it -
To obtain this magnificent gem you have to find the
Shrine of Azura (can be found on the eastern outskirts of
the map just east of the Nchurdamz Ruin or south of
Hlomayan which is in the far east of Molag Mar). O.K. it's
not that easy to find, the best way to find it is to
levitate until you see the statue of Azura, below it is the
entrance to her shrine. After interacting with her shrine
she'll give you a quest in which you must prevent the
minions of Sheogorath from disturbing a girl pilgrim (You
see they have a bet where a hundred years of living alone
will produce wisdom or madness). The only problem is she'll
only tell you that the island is in the Sheogorads Region.
Note: The pilgrim she's talking about should not be
disturbed, don't even enter her shack or you'll fail
and you'll never receive the star.
Azura's Quest -
The island she's talking about is located on the
Northernmost part of the map.
(Cete says: Sorry for the shitty sketch. Locate Sanctus Shrine in the Sheogoard Region, the one Dagon Fel is on. North of the shrine is an island with a dome, east of that island is another small island, go there.)
As I said earlier you have to kill Sheogorath's minions.
There are a lot of Daedra roaming around this island. The
most important one is Staada, kill her and take the
Sheogorath's Signet Ring from her corpse
Sheogorath's Signet Ring
Constant Effect
Drain Willpower 10 pts on self
Fortify Personality 10 pts on self
(this is the proof that you have fulfilled your quest).
Return it to the Shrine and she'll give you the Azura's Star.

If you can't find it on your map, then you don't know enough about Morrowind; thus you can't be very good.

Am I the only one that doesn't use spoilers but just explores every single cavern and kills everything in the game, eventually finding where every bloody thing there is ... ... and if that fails I look it up in the editor

.
As for the hardest to obtain item, at a very low level ... it was the Trebonius' Items ... because I faced him at level ... uh ... 5-8, I think ... difficult fight ... can we say Levitate and Fill em full of arrows ... anyway ... as for the hardest to obtain at any level, I would say (as I have at once had almost all the rare items - save the Darksun sheild) it is Goldbrand (I think)... basically because I had to steal it from the Telvanni when I was in the Telvanni house :-/ and not get caught ... and I was at level 10 I believe ... anyway enough of me remember when I use to actually PLAY Morrowind, its making me want to go back and play again ... ...

Alamexia is about 20 times harder than Trebonus.

i think the fists of randigulf are the best items and hardest to obtain, simply because i didn't see that shit the first time i went in that six house shrine, and left increase agility by 20(constant effect), and right increases strenght by 20(thats a hundred extra pounds you can carry!!). i find them the most useful. not to mention the the high heavy armor class.
