I love the akatosh mounts mod by Saiden Storm but started thinking that the dragons would look cooler if they had fore legs too. so if anyone with a good talent for modding who would think this too and would like to do this, consider this a request.

Wish I could help, but I know nothing of modding.. half the time I install them wrong. I love my mount! However, when I fly even a little high... when I try to land.. the terrain mesh/texture is always out of sync. Do you have this problem?

no, i havent so far. but i've only been using the mod for a few days now. when i do land i sometimes get the loud-shake-the-earth landing and sometimes i dont. but no messed up textures. i get occasional crashes too, but not consistent ones, but that could be related to another mod. however, i do seem to crash more with the mod on, but nothing to the point where i will uninstall.

i just would like to see a four legged dragon, like the typical image. plus i just watched Eragon again. LOL

What you are looking for is the Wal-Mart bird from the movie Evolution

ihateregisteringeverywhere
Actualy most dragons, even old ilustrations and heraldic ilustrations had dragons with four legs and wings.

So OB is a bit off imho tongue.gif, what I'm saying is,that what the TS's looking for IS a dragon but what OB has is a wyvern tongue.gif.

The "wall mart bird" is cute though tongue.gif.

Actually the reason why people often leave out the front "hands" is the structure of the wings that requires that you have enough muscle to flap the wing down against the mass of air. For example, if you look birds or even chickens bones they appear to have a sort of "fin" from their chest, and that fin is for the muscle that is used to operate the wing. Creating a third set of limbs would cause problems either to spine or the limbs themselves, for requiring either making the spine structure longer, or placing these limbs between the muscles that would probably crush the bones (as reducing the effectiveness of the muscles). However this is just the evolutionary theory (besides I bet you can not name a single non-fictive animal that would have 6 limbs, if the insects are not counted.)

However you are right on the fact that most dragon designs come with who legs and one pair of wings, however I am not sure I've seen any MEDIEVAL dragon with this structure. They just tend to look more "cool" smile.gif

PS. the wall mart birdie couldn't be able to fly (not enough breast muscles) biggrin.gif

Yeah, I know smile.gif another thing is that wings used to be the front limbs a long time ago, evolution-wise there'd be nothing to morp the wings from if you kept the fron limbs as they are. But hell, just you try to denny that dragons from heroes of might and magic 3 looked awesome.

Basically, I agree in thinking that the dragon needs forelegs. It would look more like the traditional dragon. The Eragon film is crap, but the books are great. Heroes of Might and Magic 3 is great, but I'm now playing HoM+M5. So now every time I see Akatosh I think of the evil orcish wyverns! Evolution is brilliant, love the wal-mart scene! thumbsup.gif.

edit: opps. messed up post. sorry.

Saiden Storm must have had rough time choosing what dragon to use in his mod. I think the three main kind were the:

. Tricerodragon - that one showed promises, but its bad temper and the tendency to try and go thru the trees instead moving aside weighted against being chose. After it wasn't welcomed by the city guard too, probably because it's taste in thump peasants.

. Brontodragon - Albeit this one weren't adept to go thru trees it had some troubles avoiding them and most of times got stuck in dense forests. Docile, it had no issues with the guards, but its stubbornness against leaving the swamp lands and absolute impossibility to lead then thru the Jeral Mountains turned them a bad choice.

. Aviansaurdragon - a little known species that surprisingly showed some characteristics highly desired to be a worthy flying mount. First was, maybe, having evolved the forelegs into wings (what I must say is a good thing to anyone willing to fly). The aviansaurdragon had a temper that helped it being chose. Naturally pacific, this impressive beast could react violently with special attacks attached to it's colored subspecies characteristics.

Some says Saiden Storm tossed a three faced coin to decide the choice, but I deeply doubt this.

You bet smile.gif

whoa, is that something that is being worked on!?!?!????

and yeah, OB dragons are more like wyverns, in the traditional fantasy terminology.

Hey if anyone would feel incline to make this modd, they can use the dragon moddel I already have, not sure if the bones will export or not, but it shouldn't be too hard to remake them. If anyone wants it for anything just let me know. Here is a rendered picture of the moddel I'm talking about.

could it be possible to retexture the akatosh mount mod with that model? i dont know how to do that, but if it is possible, it might make things easier
paintballmaster254
What do you mean by retexture, because retexturing is just creating a new texture for a moddel.
lonewolf_kai
i really dont know what i am talking about, lol. i was wondering if you could simply "copy and paste" your dragon model onto the akatosh mount model.

This could be something like placing an elephant shape over a man skeleton... may work (I dare not even think about) but the animation would be seen as a bit awkward.

and the seating might be all weird too like sitting in the middle of the dragon where you head sticks out of the saddle?

I didn't know C4D had a Nif Exporter. That's really nice to know; where did you download it?

Also, I saw awhile back a dragon someone was making and placing in Oblivion. Don't know if it was a mod or anything; just saw it on a tutorial. It would work perfectly if it was scaled down a little. Here.
paintballmaster254
The one you saw I think was only suppost to be a static moddel. My dragon came with C4D R10, and unfortunatly it doesn't have a NIf export, thats why I use Max for that.

That looks like a model originally used for RuneScapes metal dragons. or familiar.

I'd suggest you ask SaideenStorm if he will assist you in making this mod biggrin.gif

I'd like to see it.

wow, that looks pretty good too. What tutorial was that from? I personally think the tail should be a little longer, but i'm not complaining, i think both models still look great!

Is there anyone who is remotely interested in this?
