I've been using this for a year and had no problem until now. I run the obmm as usual but it doesn't work, I got a message saying "cannot find the correct runtime..." something like that (I don't remember), after that my computer went wrong. I cannot copy and paste files, I cannot run the windows task manager, I cannot search files. I have uninstall obmm but it doesn't change anything. Can someone help me? I can't play oblivion anymore if this continue
Thank you... thanks.gif

This does not sound like an OBMM or Oblivion problem. The Windows task manager, as well as the copy paste and other functions are all protected system files. First try a complete power down, down to unplugging your computer. Wait at least 2 minutes for any residual power to drain down, then power it back up. DO NOT start oblivion or OBMM. Try the task manager to see if it works. If not, you may have to reinstall windows. Try the hard drive error checking function - Drive, properties, tools. select all options - this will take a long time several hours on a large Hard drive.. If you see a lot of bad sectors, its time to replace that drive.

obmm need net framework at least v2 and seems you haven't it anymore or it is corrupted.

you can download and install net framework from the MS sites

I have reinstall the windows. It's normal at first, I can copy paste as usual and run the windows task manager. But once I install Oblivion, the problem back. I reinstall windows again and not install Oblivion. It works fine. then I install 7z. that I got from internet, it's back again. Should I purchase a new Operating System? Or should I purchase a new Hard Disk?Oh the problem is getting worse. I can't view JPEG file and cannot run regedit. Is this some kind of virus?

Thank you...

I have but no change. I can only run OBMM after the installation wizard finished. So I have to uninstall it and install it again to run it. Anyway thank you for your time and attention. thanks.gif

Egga,

which version of Windows is that? We might need more references to help you.
I assume it's either XP (most likely with Service Pack 2 or 3 installed) or Vista, such as Home Premium.

It sounds weird enough in fact. Is the desktop intact? Make sure there isn't a fake one layered over the real stuff (couple trojans use this trick). Also, do you have some form of antivirus/antispyware control?

Just to make sure, try out some detection/disinfection tools. Two rather straightforward ones are RogueRemover and Stinger. If you need an antivirus, get one ASAP - your computer should stay protected at all times; better yet, take in account a firewall to replace Windows' own if you're running lower than XP Service Pack 3.

If the registry editor isn't working, try installing alternatives such as RegSeeker and HiJackThis! (this one isn't very immediate to use, but it's often very useful).

Now I'm playing Oblivion without OBMM. It is possible but doesn't feels good. My load order is messed up.
I can only play Oblivion on my computer since other functions are....broken sad.gif

I have never seen the kind of problems you are describing caused by Oblivion or OBMM. Did you get your Oblivion by downloading it? If so, and you did not use an approved site, they might have included a virus, spyware program or some other malware with the download. And, did you download your copy of OBMM from the author's site? Again, downloading from an unknown site can give you more than you thought you were getting.

For free antivirus and anti spyware programs, I use this site. Lots of good utility programs too. And it is safe. Just be sure to check if it is free or not (freeware) If it costs, the price is right up front on the first line.

It's XP Service Pack 2. I don't understand too much about those tools. where can I get it? and what should I do after I get it? I once use AVG anti virus and it detects A LOT of threat. maybe thousands. I click the heal button and after that I can't run ms office and can't uninstall Oblivion. But the copy paste, Task manager and regedit works fine after I scan my computer with AVG.

By the way, am I wrong asking these problem? bben46 says that this doesn't sound like OBMM or Oblivion problem. and I asking these problem at Oblivion forum.

Me too. This is my first time see problem like this. My friend gave me Oblivion DVD one year ago and I download the latest OBMM from tes nexus. Maybe I should try purchase a new OS.
Whoa there are lot of freewares. do you have any recommendation?

Thank you

There is no problem asking this kind of question here. We want to do whatever we can to get you playing. Even if it isn't a game related problem we will try to help.

Often, a virus will damage parts of another program. Usually to hide itself better. So, you may have to reinstall some of the programs. after cleaning the virus out. If your virus is serious enough, you may have to wipe your hard disk clean (reformat) and reload windows as if it were new.

Edit:

My personal preferences are:
Avira antivirus - Free version (be careful not to download the pay version)
Spybot S&D for anti spyware
ccleaner to clean the registry.

But there are others that work just as well. There are probably as many different opinions on anti virus programs.as there are geeks using them.
