What would be good character names for a male mage or female mystic elf?
thanks in advance!
SavageArtistry
When I can't decide on a name (usually for multiplayer games where I have several characters to name) I use this site: http://www.20000-names.com/ It has the names categorized by what country they're from, gender and even meaning.

I use Medieval total war 2 it real boils down to what would they be in realty... play for about an hour, look at the family tree and start picking out names you like combine them there you go.

That is way I came cross both of my Nord characters Gustav Skolhamarr and Athelwolf Angle

nord character names Germans, Danes, Brits....
Imperial The Italian City states and Byzantine Empire

Elves I treat more like Nords.... German, Danes, mix in France and Spain... maybe some names from New world the aztecs..

Orcs, Mongols, Turks aztec

the cats and lizards.... Middle eastern

Off the top of my head:
Elidor
Arenor
Arethor
Eldunair
Ranganalf
Erathelar
Elduthur

I use The Silmarillion by Tolkein to find good names. It's all the mythology behind Middle Earth and can come up with some very good names. (these aren't). A name I like from it that works well fo most character types is Berren. It is on his gravestone as well. All Tolkeins works are good for this, try to use characters that aren't main ones. For example, Moradir is an excellent name to fit any elf, especially Dark Elves.

I only wish I did that sort of thing before. My best and main character is called Ed. wallbash.gif

Yep, Dark Elves rule (Ed's one). But I've been applying decent names to all my new characters, such as Nightscale (an argonian that has black scales. Try it, it looks really good), Areldunair (or add an I on the end for a chick, but I have none. He's a high elf) and my sneaky kajiit, Quick-Claws. Kajiit and argonians are the hardest to name, I can't give them proper authentic names, so I tend to give them nicknames that sound good, not Dumpy or Gypsy-boy (I know people with those nicknames).

Tip: name characters after friends. But make sure the characters the opposite sex to them and make them really, really face-cringingly ugly. thumbsup.gif

Thanks! You might notice the big red writing, I'm trying to find out who the last person who gave me kudos was.
Oli Burton and Jack Hudson are currently to horrificly ugly Orcish maidens. thanks.gif thumbsup.gif
(this won't make sense unless you remember what my signature used to involve)
PS: Thankyou kudos headed your way for excellent discussionerizationism and listening to my ramblings.
You could also try getting them killed. I recomend assaultin Sheogorath. See what happens. Classic. thumbsup.gif

My current character, a fem mystic elf is called 'Tuminsal' - was I inebriated ? LOL

My last Breton Mage was called 'Hiroshima' and my last Orc Tank was called 'Malachite'

Incidentally, I think Olman is a great name for a male mage biggrin.gif

My godly imperial Warrior/Mage custom class is called thomas, so I know exactly how some of you feel.

But anyway, I tend to give Orcs, Argonians and Khajiit amusing names similar to what many of the NPC's are called. For example, you have Orcs called Grash-Gro-Burz or hwat have you; mine is 'Nads-Gro-Wifebeater'. You have Argonians with strange names like city swimmer; mine is 'Fights-like-ninja'. Of course my Khajiit is callled M'aiq. Naturally.

My human or elven characters tend to be named after me. Which is strange considering the large amount of Tolkein books I have to steal from. I reckon someone sohuld try the name Tyrion. Would sound pretty good methinks.

Magical Trevor, Gandalf, Pallando, Avatar(from Wizards), Harry Potter, etc. Just get names of wizards from television, movies, or books tongue.gif

I always go use the name Asher or Asher7 ...it's just my thing. It means "fortunate, blessed, happy" in Hebrew.
Khet

To me it sounds like it should mean 'Burns things to the ground' biggrin.gif

The two most common names I use are Khet and Khat (ORIGINAL!) but other than that here are a few I've used before. Some of them I haven't used in Oblivion, mostly in MMOs but I'll throw in a generalization of 'em in terms of a 'class'

Xontier - Dark mage
Yaenthar - Druid/Healer mage
Bakohryu - Fighter
Gogarth gro-Yerhack - Orc fighter
Kel/Keladry - Paladiness
Khet - Assassin/Thief
Khat - Ranger/Archer
Seidaku - Mage

Seidaku is only one of the two names I use (to my knowledge) that has a meaning. Seidaku is a Japanese word meaning Light and Dark, Sun and Shadow, Yin and Yang (in other words, opposites) and Khet is an Egyptian word for Fire, and is also an Egyptian unit of measurement, and apparently a board game with lazers! PEW PEW! biggrin.gif

My names are almost always based on in-game naming standards for each race.

Dark Elf - Lletheru, Oreys, Rindayn
Wood Elf - Gladmir, Borim, Elinnar
High Elf - Calammine, Aurendil, Taerinwe
Argonian - Rindai, Heeliuus, Jiim-day, Rium-Gaal, Swims-like-a-stone, Climbs-trees, Sharp-Eye
Breton - Auriale, Luminae, Finnias, Isolde, Gabriel
Imperial - Matthias, Titus Aurelius, Julienna, Serena
Khajiit - Rindajhii, Anaza, Dro'Mezzi, S'rindi
Redguard - Anwe, Samaar, Jamal, Riad, Dinji
Orc - Brog gro-Durgh, Karn gra-Crog, Ogrub gro-Makh, Gral gra-Undag
Nord - Sven Home-wrecker, Frundi, Aja Cold-heart, Skrindi the Gentle
