Google is currently the leading search engine in the world... Since this forum (Mwsource) is a multi-cultured forum, with people from everywhere.. I wanted to know what people used what...

I personally use Google for 2 reasons, its awesome and simple... and its Canadian (Yes thats right... Its canadian, and so am I!)

I found that Yahoo tried to copy Google by adding the bar at the top to search for images... articles... things like that.. ITS CHEAP!

Google has something now called "Foogle" which is a lot like "Ebay" hmm... lets debate!

Do you think that Yahoo is trying to copy Google? Or vise versa! and why?!

I started using Yahoo!, moved on to Altavista and then ended up using Google, mainly because it's faster... but I'll use it even more willingly now that I know
that it's Canadian, I like Canada

I use Google mostly because it is too the point. Yahoo tries desperately to "sell" its services along with its searches. But one thing I positively hare about both are the so-called "Key-Word" advertisements. I type in "Toshiba 2N3773" trying to find a transistor, and receive 20 results having nothing to do with the search (but the "meta-text" always says something like "Specifications for 2N3773 and 2N6609 NPN/PNP transistor", or something equally deceitful), or that lead to the results of another search page. Both are guilty, as is AltaVista. The only one I can think of that does it to a lesser degree is MetaCrawler, but that usually only shows "relevant sponsored responses".

Google is simply a better search engine, though I agree with vandorssen that its meta-data searching framework leaves something to be desired. Yahoo is good for playing "Collapse!" and that's it.

I use yahoo usually because I'm too lazy to change my homepage plus it's powered by google so you get the same results just not as fast.

basically as long as it's powered by google and isn't MSN it's great

MSN search SUCKS

I use Google because

1. It doesn't try to sell you anything on the homepage
2. I can change it's languarge to /-\4x0|2, elmer Fudd, or Klingon (?)
3. It's fast

I use google because "Just google it" has become a term that most people use now when they don't know something or just want to find more out about things.

Which brings the important question... What reasonably decent non-google search engines are out there?
