This forum is for questions and intelligent discussion regarding Elder Scrolls lore. This includes but is not limited to aspects of the game that are gameplay- and history-oriented -- a discussion about enchanting, its limits, and its purposes would be acceptable, for instance, but not a query about the forum members' favorite enchantments --, aspects of that category for previous and predicted future Elder Scrolls games ("predicted future Elder Scrolls games" in this case covers a debate about how enchanting will appear in the next Elder Scrolls game and how it will be reflected in the atmosphere or history of the game), and purely historical discussions and questions such as the evolution of enchanting.

Acceptable topics include the following:

• All those listed above
• An inquiry about the Dwemer influence in history, or even simply who the Dwemer were
• A debate about why the Orcs can or cannot be considered elves
• A debate regarding the merits of each Great House (but not "which stronghold is the best?" or "which Great House gives you the best services?")
• A discussion about the Thrassian Plague
• A question regarding what the elder scrolls are
• A question about the significance of era divisions

Unacceptable topics include the following:

• A post asking about how you get out of the Puzzle Canal -- a question regarding the significance of the Puzzle Canal is acceptable
• A question about how you can get Sottilde's Code Book, which should be posted in the Spoilers forum
• A post describing how a low-level character can get an edge on the Dark Brotherhood assassins, which should be in Spoilers
• A link to a site about the Wheel of Time series -- I can't even begin to describe what's wrong with that
• Feedback on the Tamriel Rebuilt project, which is an independently produced plugin and should thus be discussed in the Plugins forum
• A question about how one can supposedly buy rats in Vivec, which should be in General Morrowind
• A question about why there are no children in Morrowind, unless it is explicitly stated in the game that there are no children and legal issues preventing Bethesda from including children are therefore irrelevant
• A discussion about how "super-cool" Din is -- this should be in Spoilers

Now that the main purpose of this thread is out of the way, I can imagine many people, especially those reading this for the first time weeks from now, asking what this thread is for -- at the time this was written, twenty threads were active in the Morrowind Lore forum for the last two months. Of those, four were simply placeholders for moved threads. Of the remaining threads, eight were blatantly off topic. Of the remaining threads, four more were barely related to Elder Scrolls lore. Only the four remaining threads were truly relevant to the discussion. The only pinned topic in this forum at this time, "Random Bits of Knowledge," was littered with irrelevant posts ranging from judgments on Vivec's sexuality to the fact that a member of the forums was not wearing underwear when he posted.

The reason for this post's existence, then, is clear: to slow the spread of noobtardism and revive enlightened debate and relevant, intelligent inquiries in this grouping of threads.
