I have 10 acres of land to farm and this is the right-size tractor for the job.
This tractor cannot handle round or large square hay bails even if an attachment was added.
Here are some of the things I have in mind for the FEL (more idea will probably come after I start using it and getting more familiar with what it can do)
- Move / create / flatten dirt piles...this is a back saver and in my case, I life saver (nearly died not too long ago trying to shovel 3 loads of dirt and lay 7 pallets of grass in a single day)
- Maintain my driveway (only need to pay for the dirt / gravel to be dumped in my yard)
- Install or Remove fence T-posts with EXTREME speed and no back pain at the end of the day (to remove posts, I plan on welding a couple of hooks on the bucket so I can use chains for lifting)
- Moving small bales of hay (that my land produces currently)
- Move my remaining dirt pile to my shooting range to serve as a backstop.
- Dig out a spot for my soon-to-be pool. (my land is pure blackland soil...at least 10 feet down, no rocks...easy digging)

Maybe you could take the cutter off your old one & buy the new one with a rear spreader (box blade) if you have a lot of dirt to spread.

I didn't have a tractor before. I let other people come in and handle the hay for me. Regarding the grass around my house, my father-in-law always brought his ZTR but it took about 4 hours to mow the front yard and a bit of the back yard.

Well, seeing how I'm the photographer in the family, it is quite difficult getting "action" pictures of myself. Momma has 5 kids to keep an eye on and even on her best days, her shots are usually blurred beyond recognition or the white balance is off really bad.
It has been a while since I was out diving as well. Having small kids tend to mess that up a bit since they cannot go under water with you and it's difficult affording a baby sitter that you can trust to watch your kids if you take them on a cruise with you (they tend to enjoy the cruise themselves too much).

I was doing "laps" around my pasture and using my iPhone to record the amount of time it took with each successive lap going from the outside in and in 2nd gear at the optimal RPM, it took 6.5 minutes to go around the parameter of the 8 acres I was mowing. I stopped too many times to get a good idea of how long the entire job took though.
I remembered that the iPhone has a built-in camera and that somebody wanted me to take an "action" shot so I did the best I could since my hand was attached to my arm which was attached to me (currently).
I also found out that one should not be getting side-tracked messing with features of an iPhone one is not familiar with while operating heavy (and powerful) machinery (thanks Michlo!). If anyone has seen the kids movie called "Cars" by Pixar, you can probably recall the cow-tractor tipping scene where they honk their horn and the tractors pop a wheelie and fall backwards. Well, I didn't fall backwards but I sure did pop a wheelie! I have a lever that keeps the gas applied at a constant RPM but that is only to be used when in "cruise mode"...well, I got side tracked and didn't think about it and went from one gear to the next higher gear and popped the clutch. To my surprise I was doing a wheelie before I knew it.
Here I am running over all the field mice I can. Sure wish I had my 10/22 or 9mm with me! The AR-15 would probably be overkill. I hear that varmint-killer bullets make soft tissue explode with nothing left but pelt.

You can see the tree line behind me which is where the creek is located and a few rolls of hay.
Click to view attachmentHere is 1st person view from the tractor model.

You can see my house, pool, shed and cars as well as a possible hint that I'm mowing too fast and cannot round corners very well.

You obviously have never mowed hay (or even grass) in the middle of a dry summer day in Texas. The snow-flurry of hay particles is very bad. Even with these glasses for protection against the bigger pieces of debris, my eyes were almost solid red from being irritated at the end of the day. The thought of snorkel goggles seems like a dang sexy idea that day.

Oh, and as a funny side-note, there are very small gaps between my glasses and my face but twice a bee found its way between my glasses and my eyeball !!! I used a quick-draw disrobe spell on my glasses that was hot-keyed to the number "1" on my keyboard...
