Rather than rendering them unconscious when you take their life down.

If you open the console and click the person, typing kill will put them down. If you do it without selecting anybody, you will die.

its impossible to kill them in game but you can change that in CS then kill them

How do you change in the CS

Oh, there was a thread some time ago describing how to change quest characters in the CS, but I can't find it (I only looked through a few of the 398 pages of search results).

But I was able to find three mods here on Nexus that will let you kill anyone, this one appears to be the only one that works:

EDIT: Some of those guards are invincible because they are part of the thieves guild quest line, killing them will break that part of the game.

Use this one but make sure it is loaded towards the bottom of your load order listing. By default, the file date is VERY old and will be one of the first in the load orders. If any other mods make changes to those NPCs, you will loose the "Essential" flag change. But also know this works in reverse. If you load this mod after other mods that modify the characters, you might not get the benefit from their changes.

I know this mod works because I tested it when I created Zombie Massacre and have it listed as a recommended mod.
