I'm surprised it didn't pop up when I searched for "melnibone" (unless I need the accent mark over the e???)

Anyways, I'd figure they'd look sort of 'elvish', though taller.

High stats would be Willpower and Intelligence. Low stats would be Personality (remember how arrogant they are??) and Luck (cos, well - they no longer rule the Bright Empire - so their luck is now out tongue.gif).

Bonuses would include +'s to Conjuration (cos they summon demons), Heavy Armour and maybe Armourer (purely cos of their Melnibonean Plate armour - which needs to be made as well tongue.gif) and Marksman (there is a Melnibonean Bone Bow). Also, to reflect 'Witch Sight', automatic (hotkeyed) Detect Life (or similar). Possibly Destruction as well??

And speaking of Melnibone, I notice that Stormbringer doesn't seem to have been made yet! (at least, not with the searches I've done.. and thus, no Cymoril, Yrkoon, Moonglum, Rakhir, etc etc).

Just a thought...

Uhhh.., are you talking bout those guys from the books of Michael Moorcock???
I never heard of this though (and I guess all lot of others with me).

Perhaps you should include some piktures or other art work.

Yep - MM's books biggrin.gif

Problem with pics and other artwork is that they normally only do Elric, occasionally Yrkoon and Cymoril, and rarely anyone else. Bigger problem is that it becomes artists interpretation..... and some of those interpretations don't always fit the description that MM put into the books.

Well.., Still then at least give a more detailed discription of them.

In a quick search I read something that they look fysiological like Cats or catlike so they're Khajiit???

I'm just doing a quick search through google, and finding what I expected - most ppl think Elric is stereotypical of the race instead of an anomoly.

No - they aren't physically cat-like, but psychologically - they are completely amoral, doing whatever they feel like, how and when they feel like it (only 'tradition' holding them even vaguely in check).

ElricM has a Morrowind mod, but doesn't look like an Oblivion sad.gif

(copied from Wiki - )The Melnibonéans are a humanoid race, but their psychological distance from humans is stressed throughout the series. With the exception of Elric, they lack a moral sense. Their actions are determined by tradition and by the search for pleasure and new sensations. Meerclar, Lord of the Cats, compares the Imrryrian nature to the nature of his own kind in their sophistication and their love of cruelty and pleasure. Torture of slaves and prisoners is a common amusement. The otherness of the Melnibonéans is manifest in their aesthetics. They naturally prefer a mix of colors and elaborate, baroque decoration and architecture. The tall spires of Imrryr are every color of the rainbow....

....The Dragon in the Sword reveals that the Melnibonéans are descendants of an elfin nomadic race. A group of the Eldren met with disaster while traveling through the Multiverse with a pair of dragons. The Eldren women became stranded in the dimension of Gheestenheem (one of the Six Worlds in the local group of planes) when the female dragon was trapped in the Dragon Sword. Adopting the identity of Cannibal Ghost Women, they survived for generations by mating with human males, a union that invariably resulted in Eldren daughters. Finally the Eternal Champion releases the dragon by breaking the Dragon Sword upon the Iron Round. Upon her release, the she-dragon opens the Dragon Gate between the dimensions. The races of dragon and Eldren are reunited, and a minor character predicts the reforging of the broken pieces of the sword as two swords: Stormbringer and Mournblade.

Here's another bit stolen from another forum....They are beautiful indeed. They are slim and graceful. They have triangular faces and high cheek-bones. They have pointed ears without earlobes. They have huge slanted eyes and exquisitely chiseled features. They are feline and androgynous (let's not chicken out from that fact, please!) and they are plainly non-human, "eldritch". That element is so plain that normal humans tend to see them as demons. You cannot mistake them for a human, even at first glance... - again, still different to the elves that get textured (Beautiful Elves, Cute Elves etc... they still look quite human - probably cos of the angle of they eyes... and a rounded face).

IIRC, they are also a darker skinned race - not fair skinned. This would be in line with a draconic heritage.

As for the swords - This is the 'official' version, approved my MM himself (though I must admit, not quite how I imagine it!)

Does this help, Jroin??

Well.., Things never become as good as in your minds eye.., I have done a quick sketsh of wat I'd guess the race would look like after reading through you explenation..., (I guess I missread, and thus misstuck, the Psyco for Physio)..., If you want I can up-load the drawing.., just remember that it'll just be another artistick interpertation of the race as would the race mod be IF it gets made.

Though.., If you really want to play as a melnibone I'll sugjest you make a "mok-up" race in the CS, If you then find someone that CAN make mashes (models) for the ears and perhaps a costume skin texture you can apply that to your allready made race.

I would stick with Dunmers (cous I think they have the most triangular face shape) with Imperial skin and Bosmer ears.

Hey Jroin.

Sorry - I misread the first time I read this, hence the delay in replying...

Yeah - that'd be fantastic if you uploaded that drawing!!! What I do have in mind is a fairly 'chiselled' features, long face, but the most prominent feature would be upward and backward slanting eyes - sort of like a dragons (but not as rounded...makes sense in my mind tongue.gif) and sort of like cat's eyes - slit-like (up/down) irises, not round. Definitely 'alien', and obviously not human.

Yes, I am agreeing with you as for how to make - from what few races I've seen, starting from scratch with the vanilla high elf seems closest.

Btw - things are going to be interesting if they finally do get around to making the movie! It has been 'scripted', but still awaiting production! (as per the forum on the topic... http://www.multiverse.org/fora/forumdisplay.php?f=24)

I've loved this image of Elric for years, though it is a bit surreal.... (Elric is not normal for his people - physically, he is an albino, so very atypical)

Well.., it doesn't look annything like that pic. of Elric.

but here it is...,

I think it depicts the desriction that was given in the top quote.:

"They are beautiful indeed. They are slim and graceful. They have triangular faces and high cheek-bones. They have pointed ears without earlobes. They have huge slanted eyes and exquisitely chiseled features."

A triangular face means to me, a narrow jaw and, in comparaison, a wide cranium.
The rest of the sketch is that of a race I once did for a commic I was doing. (they were a bit more cat like.., with heary plumes on the tip of theyr ears.)

So I hope it pleases you and might Inspire someone to help you further.
and that sword.., I like it.., (in a wicked kind of way devil.gif )

cheers mate.

Way cool!!!

yep - that's definitely in the direction I'm thinking!!

Looks 'elven', but not the sort that you'd want to go and pat (which is how most of them are), but rather the type you don't want to meet in a dark alley... or on a brightly lit street tongue.gif

We shall see if anyone else likes and mods.... biggrin.gif

Btw - you might want to do a search for 'stormbringer sword' if you liked that one...

I'm glad you like it.., Now the only thing we can do is wait and hope..,

BTW..,

I could do the eye textures..., I think.

what coulor eyes do they have annyway..., and do they glow or not?

No idea. The author wasn't incredibly specific about such details (hence the various interpretations in the images).

I would presume that they don't really glow, though. Of course, they are a fairly powerful race, as evidenced by ruling the Bright Empire for 10,000 years with no issues (although, just recently, a new invader came in from another dimension). They held that rule because of their ability to summon demons and all... a strong supernatural connection. It certainly gives one an attitude, which may be reflected in the eyes, but I still wouldnt' call it a 'glow'.

So - stat wise, I'd say medium STR and AGI (40?), slightly higher END (45?), INT and WIL of 50 or higher (probably higher actually), but PER and LUC of real low - say 20-25 (off set with the high INT and WIL). +100 Magicka .. yep - it's high, but should be! +'s to Conjuration, blade and mysticism, resistance to magicka and poison, but -'s to speechcraft and mercantile (as one description read, they walk around like they own the place, cos at one stage, they probably did!). Anything non-melnibonean is inferior (hence the hits to personality based stuff). And I'd give a power of summon ?scamp 1/day (though maybe an increasing creature by levels).

Anyway... we shall see... I'll go looking at modding stuff, but I'm not that good. I certainly can't draw tongue.gif

Oh, and yes, in looking over the various races and race mods, I agree - using High Elf as a base is probably best.

Lastly - Blind Guardian rule thumbsup.gif

Well.., if you can't figure-out how to do something just post it, there are a lot of modelers that are willing to give tips and hints on how to do stuff.

Ahhh.., Blind Guardian???.., they're not bad but Ayreon Rules. whistling.gif tongue.gif

Had to google that one! I've looked it up, but will obviously have to check further. I noticed Hansi is on the latest album.

Any other suggestions? tongue.gif

Ya.., I noticed.., I ectually did get a lot of advice when I asked for some help with a race mod I'm working on..., nontheless the offer to help you with the eye textures still stand..., though you could do that yourself, (eyes are the easiest to do) you'd need Gimp or photoshop.., and a plug-in so you can export and inport DDS files.

Oh.. ha...ha! tongue.gif

I meant the music actually! Mostly cos I'm in Oz, and we don't get a lot of power metal here - but there are a couple which aren't too bad, but stuff I still wouldn't consider the calibre of the Euro stuff (possibly cos of production values). And I don't notice any female vocalists down here either...????

Yeah - got that. Wasn't that impressed, tbh. Not that I didn't mind it, just didn't do massive things for me like BG did (when I first heard them - Nightfall, about 8 years ago).

So - any other local bands I may not have heard of yet???
