Hello guys,
I had some questions about the XFX 9800 GT before i bought it. Heres a link: http://www.xfxforce.com/en-us/products/gra...s/9800GT.aspx#1
Not going to ask if its better than a 8800 GT cause its the same card yes, but what about the 9600 GT 1000MB. Heres a link for it too: http://www.xfxforce.com/en-us/ProductDetai...amp;ModelID=532

Both cards cost almost the same from where i am getting them (the 9600GT being a little higher). So price is not an issue, tell me about performance.

Other than that, it says some stuff on the official XFX website about the 9800 GT which i dont understand. Posting it below:

Requires NVIDIA HybridPower-enabled motherboard. Not available on all 9800 GT models.
PhysX drivers are required to experience in-game GPU PhysX acceleration.
Requires other compatible components that are HDCP-capable

My questions for thos are:

1.Will the card work on my motherboard as i dont know what "NVIDIA HybridPower-enabled" is ? I have the Asus P5E-VM DO.
2."PhysX drivers are required to experience in-game GPU PhysX acceleration." Will i not get these drivers when i buy the card ?
3."Requires other compatible components that are HDCP-capable". Tell me i wont have to purchase seperate cables -_- ?

Know i have some dumb questions but dont know much about all this so would really appriciate any guidance biggrin.gif

Not dumb questions because I had to look them up

Hybrid power - not needed, this is a 'feature' of some motherboards, mostly made by Nvidia to reduce the power to the video card when it isn't being run hard. Power saving mode. If the motherboard doesn't have it, then it won't use it.

Physx Drivers - available for download at the Nvidia site. They will probably include a driver, but you will probably need to download the latest version.

HDCP-capable High Definition Copy Protection - This is the 'feature' that 'protects' you from playing High Def movies on your computer monitor. Another mandatory anti pirating 'feature' that not only doesn't stop pirates at all, but punishes legitimate users in the name of preventing piracy. This was forced on the video card manufacturers by the copy protection (formerly movie) industry.

All I can offer is that my new gaming box has the nVidia GeForce 9800 GX2 and runs Oblivion flawlessly. smile.gif

Good luck.

I will recommend ATI, 4850... The price is low, it is efficient as hell biggrin.gif does not need a nuclear plant to power up (a mere 450 W power supply is enough biggrin.gif)

You should compare with this card if you are looking for a new one...
