All this happen after installed Windows XP service back 3, everything was running fine until that. Now I get this message after Oblivion crashes
Oblivion.exe theinstruction at 0x0098131a referened memory at 0x04d991e8 the momery could not be "written"

then that little error report come up and I get the more basic error message. C:\docume~1\todd\locals~1\temp\Cbdf_appcompat.txt I know enough about PC to get myself in trouble anyone has come across this or know what to do please help if you can.

P.s. service pack 3 for xp is bad...

I'm using service pack 3 and have not had any problems with Oblivion. If you want to, you can reset your system to before sp3 was installed, that way you can keep playing until someone discovers how to correct the problem you're having.

I have one question for you? Are you sure you've installed the Service Pack 3 for XP correctly and entirely?
Sometimes the configuration of your antivirus software prevents certain system files from being changed, SP3 installation might fail.
Try temporarily disabling your antivirus software. You can usually do this by right-clicking your antivirus program icon (which typically appears in the bottom right-hand corner of the computer screen) and clicking Disable. Then re-download and re--installed XP Service Pack 3:

EDIT: I just want to check something else...I you have mods installed can you uncheck all of them and restart Oblivion...Please tell us if you still have the error or not? This request might sound a bit strange but I just want to clear something out before investigating further...

with all mods off the same error happens as before appcompat.txt

system restored to early date, just check the boxes that were related to bethesda... same errors happen. So have making sure that everything is updated, including OBMM I had 1.9 now I have 1.11 so maybe that will help. Oblivion meets the update specs of bethesda, I even update the unofficial version of shivering isles. So all that is left for to do is uninstall oblivion and reinstall it maybe then that will make it work...

If you did a system restore to before service pack 3 and you are still having the same problem, then sp3 was not causing the problem. Have you made any other changes to your system (new spyware, new anti-virus, new graphics card)?
Is your hard drive getting cluttered? Oblivion seems to enjoy a good defragging every month or so.

I reinstall oblivion, now everything is working as it should I am just taking time putting the mods on and see which might have caused this. I am thinking it might one of my cometic ones, because I changed from BP 2.7 to CCR_EE reivied and i started to have problems. I am sure now it something I did.... the only thing new that could think of was Malware.

I defrig ones month anyways... even with 500GBs...its not cluttered, only have used 20%

I like eye from Flonne azura eye but can seem to find where I can use it with my nord race. Unless I use this CCR_EE, so back to drawing board... Now Issue is black eyes?

crashed again same problem as before, appcmpat.txt error... now can not even get oblivion to even open just crashes...... as soon as unistalled Frans Level Creators and Load up elaborate eyes. Oblivion starts this crap again, i have worked on slowly from 12pm today until now at 5:20pm. I thought everything was working as it should, I am not one to give up but...

its not even working with all mods turned off, just the oblivion master file on. Let me see if something like happens with the other games i have....
