Just got a brand new machine with Windows Vista 64-bit OS (I know, I know...). Tried to re-install Oblivion. Game installs, plays great as do most mods. Went to install DLC from KOTN disc - no joy! Went to elderscrolls.com, found out DLC NOT supported/will NOT run on Vista.

Any super-geeks out there figured out how to get Horse Armour, KOTN, etc to install/play on a Vista machine? I am a long-time OBLIVION addict and cannot truly feel alive unless I can slay Umaril the Unfeathered.

Help an old war veteran...

Vista have security issues concerning things installed into the C:\Program Files folder, people over there used to disable UAC but seems a different workaround is known by now, but not for me. If your installation is new, you haven't too many things installed yet or simply want to be in the sure side install Oblivion (as anything else, mainly games) away from that folder.

Sorry I don't have specifics about Vista 64, hope others come in your help here, but installing out the C:\Program Files aways spares a lot of headaches, ever.

The good news is that your Oblivion should fly on your 64 box, mine does. smile.gif

The bad news is that yes, the DLC will not work as is.

The other good news is, check the PM I'm sending. wink.gif

Cheers.

I won't ask, but I do know the KOTN DVD content installed with no problems whatsoever on my Vista, but I went for the 32bit option since I have 10 years of software investments some very expensive that I still use.

The actual download from the Bethsoft website did not install because of an incompatibility in the installer file. I ordered the DVD and the problem was solved.
