This week in August marks the yearly anniversary of TESNexus in all its incarnations, dating back to August 2001 when Morrowind Chronicles was first launched. Now 7 years old, TESNexus is still here and still going just as strong as ever (infact the site beat the old daily unique visitors record by 2,000, up to 64,000, just last Sunday!).

That's thanks to what I consider to be the strongest modding community in all the gaming industry. That may sound a bit sensationalist, but point me in the direction of a gaming community that can boast a catalogue of 11,367 modifications (not including save games) with an average increase of 18 new uploads a day on this site alone. Similarly TESNexus welcomes over 800 new members every single day with the trend increasing rather than decreasing; so don't let people tell you that the Elder Scrolls community is dwindling, if the stats this site can give are anything to go by the community is getting larger, not smaller.

TESNexus had humble beginnings in Morrowind Chronicles which was launched as a general information site for Morrowind complete with a small but tight-knit group of forum regulars. In 2003 Morrowind Chronicles changed to become Morrowind Source and in 2005 the site became The Elder Scrolls Source to accommodate both Morrowind and the soon to be released Oblivion. In September 2007 the site made its last name change to The Elder Scrolls Nexus.

7 years is a long time and I'd like to thank Bethesda for making such awesomely modifiable games (damnit if Fallout 3/ESV doesn't have a construction set I'm gonna crack some skulls!), the greater Elder Scrolls community, both mod authors and downloaders, for their commitment to their work and play, the TESNexus community for sticking around and making it a place worth socialising in, and of course the dedicated staff here at TESNexus who keep this site clean and tidy.

To pay homage to this special occasion and thank you all for making the site what it is I have remmoved the advertisements on this site for a 24 hour period for all members. The adverts were removed at 12 noon BST today and will remain off the site until noon tomorrow.

Indeed, This site is a fantastical example of integration among the administrating staff, active modders, attendant users and why not say even the casual visitor. This last one almost aways becomes one of the formers.

Im a old webmaster my self and I know some websites are worthless on their own, its the person behind them that makes things a success or not.

I see you struggling to make a go of thing but i think you have realised its your attention to detail that brings people here and thats why more and more of us use your website every year dispite any minor problems.

So well done on another successful year, I hope the stats for 2008 make you smile mate.

7 years is long for any website. Congrads ... Have been here while now about 6 months, I was using a friends account. Decide to get my own, tonight I did Hey man this place rocks. You have at least saved me for getting a new game by keeping this one interesting. The least I can do is go premium as well. I have so many ideas, looks like might have try my hand at modding...


anyways, this place is wonderful again you and all the people on here have made Oblivion not just your normal game.

Woah, I didn't know this site was around for that long. Also, it seems like Fallout 3 WILL have a construction set. But unfortunately, it won't be released until sometime after the game itself is released. They want to fully concentrate on getting the core game done before they tackle making the CS.

The Modders of the This community has given me the greatest gaming experience of my life. I could not thank them all enough. The people behind the scenes keeping the site up and running smooth, and the great Moderators, and the fun open community makes downloading and trying new things more of a hobby then just a quick thing to do to fix a pet peeve. I can't wait to see what the following years will bring and I only wish I had the creative skill and talent to add to this great community of players and Modders.

Kudos to everyone trying new things and wanting to change the things they see.

Viva las Nexus (lol).This site is the greatest site anywhere.If i never found it i would've given up playing oblivion only after my 2nd character.These days Oblivion is my number 1 PC game and my num 2 game of all time (this includes consoles)

Well yeah, happy birhtday TESNexus!
When I started playing Oblivion I didn't want to hear anything about mods, until a friend of mine gave me the link to ren's beautipack, my first ever mod that changed everything. It was linked to Nexus - and I could never go back again lol. I just found so much stuff here that I started modding myself.

So a big thank you to all the people who made this site possible, and who work hard to provide it with new mods and tutorials as well as tools, and a happy welcome to every new member on here.

I've been telling everyone that for ten months, I think people are starting to believe. I went to buy a copy of Oblivion for the contest I mentioned in another thread on this board and guess what? There are 15 PC software outlets within 5 miles of my house, Circuit City, Best Buy, EB Games, Game Stop, FYE, Walmart just to name a few and not one of them has Oblivion in stock, because they can't keep it in stock. What does that tell you?

No matter how strong the community, you would never see these kind of numbers without a good solid site like this one. Thanks Dark0ne, IMHO you and your staff are largely responsible for the tremendous growth of TESMC in the last year. Also I don't think anyone can deny that the cross membership activity with other sites like BGSF, UESP, ORE, TESFU and so many others (see my site for a very long list) has strengthened us all exponentially.

Damn, 7 years, I wish I hadn't missed out on the first 4 and a half. Oh well, Que Sera Sera. Here's to another 7 and hopes that Bethesda does indeed release an SDK for FO3 lest Dark end up on the lamb for cracking skulls.

The game seems to disappear in france's shops too...but not availaible in delivery...

The sims beats Oblivion?
I maybe in numbers but not quality. Oblivion is a better quality game anyway so it doesn't matter.

Especially the textures. You can't compare the textures from Oblivion to the sims ~ a cell shaded game.

I think we can still claim to be the largest RPG modding community seeing as The Sims is a RTS game and Half Life is a FPS.

When I came along last year's Summer or so I was a shivering newbie and surprised and glad about the warm and heartily welcome here. Now it is absolutely my favorite download site. It's really great. Thank you all guys(€: Must be "folks" of course. Forgot AlienSlof :biggrin) .

This is a great modding community. A lot of people have worked together to make some really great game enhancements. I'm currently using 184 mods and I am getting SI soon so that I can expand that even more. It's all thanks to tesnexus. Modding was a slow and painful ordeal before I found this website. Thanks for doing a great job and keeping these resources available.
