I tried a couple mods to stop oblivion gates from popping up, and none of them seemed to work. So removed and deleted, of course. Then found I could use the console command "set mq00.randomgatechance to #" to control thier frequency, so I set it to 0 for the time being. (I want to do the main quest lvl 20+, I'm 7 now)

Here's the problem. I'm in an oblivion gate, My hard save is in this gate. When I take the sigil stone it puts me back to the oblivion gate entrance, with the portal closed leaving me stranded. If I use the command "closecurrentobliviongate" it does the same thing. I walked back to the sigil room and there was only light inside, I couldn't navigate at all. I changed the gate chance back to normal and tried again, same thing.

If I leave the gate and use the console comand 'closeobliviongate' nothing happens. Not even an error message.

Any suggestions on how to get rid of this damn gate?

Edit - the disable comand didn't work, and using a teleport command to get out, when I came back it was still standing, when I entrered the was no return portal.

You are messing with the engine, it can't close the gate with you inside smile.gif

I don't know the damage done until now, but you can try using the command: coc "location code" to return to Cyrodiil. You can find a suitable destination here

Once out try closing the gate with the console as you have done until now.

Edit, the disable command need a reference, try clicking the gate while in the console mode. The engine may be confused with a gate that should not be there.

Edit2: I'm trying to understand how all this began. The variable that controls the gate chances to appear doesn't affects the gates already open. The confusion seems to have started with you trying console commands under unexpected situations.

I had the gate selected when I tried to close it from outside, I even have th reference #. Close current oblivion gate is supposed to be used from inside, and it did close the gate, insofar as the oblivion side one.

I think the interior and exterior gates were somehow swapped, probably because of one of those two mods for disabling gates. I ranked both a 1 because they didn't work, but it seems one deserves a lower ranking.

Any console command that could swap them back?

PS - I loaded a save from about seven hours ago, I think I'll just take my lumps. Unless a solution is offered of couorse.

If you have such savegame I think the better is you sticking to it. The risks your last savegame showing problems later is big, even if the issue seems solved someway.

Remember what I said, even zeroing the appearance chances, if you see one already open go for the battle.
