Alright, I got a new Laptop.... Acer Aspire 6920G. It installed and plays oblivion alwesome. It has 5.1 Dolby Home Theatre in it, Lets just say it beautiful... So I got a new game running in Oblivion and since I have Windows Vista the Cheat Console [~] won't work. I installed the Oblivion Mod Manager so I can use mods better, And from all the forums I read they say the "Ring of Console" works good. Others say to Unplug the IR receiver, I don't how to do that and or if it would help me out anyways. So please once again help me out, You guys helped me out with the Oblivion on my desktop, Thank you for that again.
Thanks again,

You may be using the wrong key
The key to open the console is the one below esc, to the left of the 1 key. It is usually referred as the tilde (~) key.
Different keyboard configurations have different symbols on that key (mine is ' )

Nope, Im pressing that Button, Its in the same place you discribed it at. I don't know whats wrong, but I will plug around andd whats wrong. If you guys find something please send a reply, Thanks a lot
And by the way I dont know if this matters but I'm pressing the button when im still in the Imperial Sewer. I don't know if that matters, or you need to be out of there to do the ~ thing.

Notepad works fine,
bAllowConsole=1 is under the
[Interface] heading & it goes "C:\Users\*USERNAME\Documents\My Games\Oblivion" (*use your username).
Hope that helps.

I am having the same issue with the lack of Console. I have confirmed the bAllowConsole=1. The links that have been provided seem to be broken as well, leaving us without solution.
ARG!
Any further knowledge?

Try this other
link.In the meantime, I'm guessing the
Ring of Console isn't being utilized because of fear of OBSE??? That is the solution that's failsafe, so what gives? If you need help setting up OBSE just shout.

Uhg... just got off the phone with an HP rep. That was awful.
I am using Vista Premium - 64-Bit. I am also using OBSE.
The Ring of Console does not work. I add it and the screen changes color (night sight) but no console.
I have checked for driver updates, both internal and external - no change.
I have looked to add a keyboard language. = no change.
I have used shft + Tilda - no change.
I have gotten a hammer and am contemplating smashing things...
I don't know what else to do...
I went to the links in "Bethesda Console Topic" but many are broken... I have confirmed the ~ works... but the console key is still non-functional!
ARG!

I don't know if this will help but I was just looking at my desktop kb and noted that the key had (`) below the (~).
I have no idea how the tilde key is on a laptop
