I test hundreds of weapons and armor mods yet lots of them forget basic things.
This basically outlines all the mistakes that ive seen in my time!
Most of the mistakes I see are elementary and can easily be fixed yet are really annoying to users, so here goes:
1. Make sure its easy to find/get to.
2. Make sure the description says if the mod is a re-color or a re-texture (new artwork). Also, for weapons, if its 2H or 1H.
3. Make sure it works with display cases - Some people display unique items. In some cases upon re-entering the room with the display case the sword/item jumps around like crazy before falling out of the closed display case.
4. Make sure there is an icon - If you can't make an icon ask another modder
5. Take a look at other mods such as mannequins - (this goes back to 3) Several swords I tested with these mods wouldn't show up if on a mannequin http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=2055
6. Most importantly add sufficient screenshots of where the item is, what it looks like and any enchantments it has
7. Though not entirely necessary make sure it works with all levels of chameleon spells/enchantments.
IF your mod does all this its better than most mods ive tested
IF you have any suggestions to add to this just contact me on TES NEXUS
Use this in any way, I don't really care and it only took me 5 minutes
