I don't use this mod but do make sure you are patched up all the way. It doesn't look as though it requires OBSE . Of course, also make sure you have definitely copied all of the files into the correct spots. smile.gif

Good luck.
kusius
Wht do u mean by that? I is just a simple extract .(although it didn't asked me to replace anything) !
kusius
It must have a problem with the files because when i deactivate the .esp file with OBMM the game runs normally ,and i speak with Ilav (but with the Ilav with the old AI) Im so confused confused.gif .IF someone could help me .maybe the author if he sees the post ...
X DLC X
Have you tried checking for conflicts? If not, do that, if you can't find any conflicts, you could try playing around with the load order and dropping this one to the very bottom. That should overwrite ALL possible conflicts, however it can't fix a faulty script, AI or missing textures/meshes. If you can't fix this issue by reinstalling the mod, or dropping it to the bottom of the mod list, I'd contact the author via PM or in the comments section of the mod in question.

~logging off, next lesson starting in 3 mins.
kusius
OK listen i've tried to check for conflicts before i saw your post ,but i don't know how to use the program if u could tell me wht am i supposed to see in the results if there is a conflict and how to fix it??
X DLC X
It should pretty much make a popup complaint about incompatibilities, not at home atm so can't really remember the UI of OBMM perfectly. Anyway, if you haven't dropped the mod to the last spot on the load order it's easy to do, just click on the mod, then just keep pressing the -move down- button until it's at the bottom or just manually drag it down. If you have a mod that might modify something in the same places as this one, disable it, if not, proceed to test if it works. When all else fails, ask for the help of the author in fixing this issue.
kusius
Ok man ,because im e real n00b in these fixing matters ,i would like you to explain me wht am i suposed to do .I mean i don't quite understand the English too !!! Sorry . So what i got from the las t message was to drag the .esp file from the data to the last save (i dont think it's correct),let me show you then wht the Conflict detector has shown me EXACTLY:

+ Oblivion.esm
A provost of the nine divines

(This is the main ),when i open the "Oblivion .esm " (you know with the + sumbol )it shows in green : +Record Group(FACT)
-Nine Divines
+Record Group(NPC_)
- Ilav Dralgoner
+Record Group(CEll)
+Record Group(DIAL)

It also shows many things also when i press the other + sumbols ,but there's no time now!!

I also want you to know that i couldn't have any other modes running since it is the first mode i try ,so i dont think that there would be any conflict with other modes because simply i don't have others.......!

I thank you for your help and time ,and Please HELP ME !!:( ..
kusius
Oh one solution is that you download the add-on and tell me exactly wht files should the Oblivion/Data folder should have to run normally !! wht do u think of that?

What version of oblivion are you using? The mod requires the game to be patched to v1.1, pref. v1.2.0416. There is a game engine bug mentioned that causes CTD's. If you've updated the game to the latest version, you most likely haven't installed the mod correctly OR the mod is faulty/you had corrupted files while installing. Double check that all the files are in their correct folders, after you think they're in the right place, check it again. Nothing gets modders more angry than complaints when the mod hasn't been installed 100% right. Since this is your only mod on atm, it can only be a corrupt install, files in the wrong place/files missing, incompatibility with your version of oblivion, mods don't often work with earlier versions of oblivion than what they've been designed to be used with.

1.If you haven't updated the game, you can find the patch files in -->here<--.
2.If the game is up-to-date, check that all the files are in the place where they're supposed to be, once you're done, do it again.
3.Re-download the mod and install it again to see if your first download was partly corrupted.
4.If none of the above work, talk with the author of the mod about your problem, if support is offered.
5.If no support is offered or if the esp file is working as intended, read step 2 again.(At this point I'd already assume you've patched the game, so you wouldn't have to do step 1.)

--->I'm off, next lesson starting in 10 mins, been posting more from school than home lately. :F
kusius
1.OK listen i have already checked the version and I've updated my oblivion into v1.1 (which is compatible with the specific mod)
2.I cant update the game with the Shivering Isles as i run it with Oldblivion (as told by my 1st post),
3.I asked if u please could tell me which files should be it which folders .

The place of the files must the prob , thanks again for the help

You can upgrade it to v1.2, you just need to scroll down a bit further so you'll find it. Basically extract the files from the .zip file somewhere, then copy the entire 'Data' folder found inside to your x:\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion folder, click yes to all the questions about overwriting files. Put the .esp on and try it after doing both of these, reinstalling the mod & patching oblivion to v1.2. If the mod still isn't working, most likely your downloaded file is corrupt. I just downloaded the mod and it's working fine after trying it on 5 of my different characters with 100+ mods running.
kusius
V1.2 iv the shivering isles??If yes ,i've been told that if i play the game with "Oldblivion "(which i do ) ,i cannot ...And it is correct because i tried o update to the "shivering Isles" and the update couldn't be done .But i think the v1.1 ( which i have) is compatible with this mod (i've red it in the authors comments)
X DLC X
Not the SI version, there is a patch v1.2 for normal oblivion when you scroll a bit down on the site. Anyway, this is just a precausion to make sure it isn't the root of the problem, if it proves to be that, then we'll just contact the author to add that it requires the latest patch to work correctly.
kusius
ok give the link i'll download
kusius
There are no other patches ... if u have someone in mind tell me plz exactly which it i s

http://www.elderscrolls.com/downloads/updates_patches.htm

Don't look at the SI patches, the Oblivion patches are below them.
kusius
OK , then?? I try to re download the mod and then try it in game?

kusius
As expected when i run the .exe for the update it says :"Old file Not found .However a file of the same name was found. No update done since file contents do not match

Do you have a no-DVD crack? If not, did you download the patch of the correct region?
If you have a no-DVD crack, your only solution is the reinstall of oblivion, then patching it all the way up to 1.2. After a good nights sleep and thinking, this is the only viable cause for the CTD's with your game, not being patched up to the latest version. Also double check you downloaded the patch for the region where you live.
kusius
Hm it could be the region .but i didnt chose it myself i followed a link and the .exe says English,
well if there's probably an European version i'll try it

Hello, I am the author. I think that kusius's problem has been solved, and that it was linked to files extracted in the wrong place, not to the mod itself. Ideed, this mod is compatible with all versions of Oblivion, from vanilla to to 1.2.0416 and does not need OBSE, as stated in section 2 of the textual description (Requirements and installation)... Although I've never tested it with "Oldblivion" (what's this version btw?), here is the last exchange we've had:

ME:
I would need one last clue. I've set a timer so the mod shows up after 10-15 seconds if Kvatch has already been liberated: did the mod popped-up a short time after you loaded your game (if it is the case, the pop-up after a conversation with an NPC could thus be coincidental)?

Also in this regard, could you do this little test: load the same saved game for the first time after you have activated the mod, but wait for the mod's quest pop-up to appear, and tell me if then after the same bug happens.

kusius:
If it is as you say (with the timer) ... it worked correctly .The first time i activated the mod the popup showed after 10-15 secs .so i will load the first game after the 1st activation ( wich i may not find because i don't remember which was it ) and a shall infirm you further..'
Though i would feel much safer if you tell me exactly which files and folders am i supposed to have in my Oblivion/Data .
Thanks .

ME:
You can look into the compressed zip file. Just extract it into an empty folder, and there you go. However, here's a recap...

All files pertaining to this mod are located into these folder trees:
  • Data\meshes\HawkFest
  • Data\textures\HawkFest
  • Data\sound\voice\AProvostOfTheNineDivines.esp
  • Data\textures\Menus\icons\AProvostOfTheNineDivines
  • Data\textures\Menus\icons\HawkFest
  • Data\textures\Menus50\icons\AProvostOfTheNineDivines
  • Data\textures\Menus50\icons\HawkFest
  • Data\textures\Menus80\icons\AProvostOfTheNineDivines
  • Data\textures\Menus80\icons\HawkFest
I use TES4Files to package my mods, offering 2 log files: one error reporting file, showing any missing files used by the mod and its objects (as textures, meshes and such file names that are non existent or wrongfully referenced not only by the mod's objects, but also by the NIF files themselves), and another which is the full log of what files have been packaged.

[Added in this post] As a side note, I always make sure that all my files are kept into their own folders so that they don't get mixed up with other standard files or file path. This also ensures that no adjustment is required in the ArchiveInvalidation.txt file, as all textures get their own path. More over, this also allows the user to easily delete or locate any file specifically pertaining to this mod. ANother little detail in case you're asking: I coud've used a single folder element (\AProvostOfTheNineDivines), however since this mod is a part of a larger one (WIP), the folder "HawkFest" is there to gather all the files that are common amongst my mods. And I don't use BSA files to make it easier for translation (Arcenild is currently translating the mod into french)

No error nor missing files were reported in the error file. There is a full log report for the package, giving a listing of all the files and their path that are included in the mod. I tried to post it here, but it seems too long as the resulting message ends up empty... If you want that file, just give me an e-mail address and I will gladly send it to you.

In the mean time, here is the content of the error reporting log file (AProvostOfTheNineDivines_error.txt)

=================================================================
TES4FILES V2.4 ERROR FILE

AProvostOfTheNineDivines

Sat Aug 16 21:25:44 Eastern Daylight Time 2008

As you can see it is empty, thus there was no error in regards to file packaging.

So even after me asking to check that the files were in the right place, twice, they still weren't? >_<

Well, let's be lenient, as this is his very first mod installation. It reminds me of my own first experience, as I really didn't know anything about Oblivion's file structure, even less about how a mod could be installed and integrated with the game, and it took me about a full day to figure it out - I wanted to understand everything about what I was doing before jumping into the mods world, for the sake of my "vanilla" flavor... wink.gif... The fact that he didn't abandoned is a good demonstration of persistence, and even resilience (many would abandon after 2-3 tries).
X DLC X
Yeah I'm not blaming him, I just kind of find it ironic. biggrin.gif Being persistent is a good trait(to a certain extent). smile.gif

Yeah... Too much "Persistence" can render a CTD.. At least when modding Oblivion biggrin.gif... ANyways, problem solved and it wasn't the mod which does not require OBSE nor Shivering Isle and is compatible with mostly everything - except with Morrowind, Medal of Honnor, Nethack, Call of Duty, Homeworld, ... cool.gif
