Full Version: Bruma statue crash

Right, so I recently managed to finish the Oblivion main quest on a character and headed off to explore the Shivering Isles. I hadn't visited Bruma since closing the great Oblivion gate and decided after a while to head back and take a look at it. When I went through the Bruma gates, the game crashed. I loaded the autosave from just outside the games and tried again, once again the game crashed. confused.gif

At the time of closing the gate, the character was a custom race and his equipment a mix of vanilla and modded items. I had, though, changed the character's race by the console before heading to the Shivering Isles and thought this might be the problem, so I went through the files and loaded an older savegame from just before the race change and headed tried heading to Bruma. Game crashed once again.

Does anyone perhaps know of any ways to fix this issue without having to start over again? I'd really hate having to go through all of it again. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That already happened to me... did you changed one of the .esps on your data folder? .. might have update one of your mods to a newer version... ? (in my case, i've used a custom race and updated the esp... )

Try this mod: Update My Statue (this mod fixed the problem for me)

No, I don't remember altering or removing any .ESP's between the closing of the great gate and entering Bruma again after the Shivering Isles. I had a feeling it could be something to do with some old weapons I used earlier in a mod, although that mod had never been deactivated either. And I tried Update my Statue, although not without any luck (from the mod description, you need to be at the statue itself in order to use it, and I can't really enter the city, so.. figures).

But, thanks anyways.

yes.. that is if you don't cheat and copy the command (that is inside the script) that updates the statue into a custom spell or to another item.. ^^ if you play with the construction set..
and if I remember well that mod has to be one of the latest mods to be loaded.

I tried using that method to remotely update the statue, although that never really worked. Decided instead to just start over and speed-run through the main quest with a default character in default gear. But thanks for the tips.
