storyline:

you awake one night when you hear the crys of a child. you go to your front door and see a baby in towl with a note next to it. you realize that the child has been abandone and it is up to you to raise him as your own.

the mod,to put it more bluntly,allows you to grow your own child and raise from an infent,to 3 year old,to a kid,to a teen, to an adult-teen,to a man,and then to and elder.

in each phase he will have need that you must attend and after each phase he will dissapere and will apere in a diffrent form. during is growth,you can offer him care which depand on a class type. but be warned,if you spoil him to much,he will get nowhere with his life so watch out. and if you will abandon him he will become a punk. i will describe them now:

Infent phase(from first weeks to age 3)

in this phase (which is a matter of days,since waiting months is gonna take to much time to enjoy) your kid is a real handful,you need to feed him,get him to sleep etc. to put it more bluntly,you need to treat him like any other baby.

3 year old phase(from age 3 to age 5)
this phase's timeline is the same as the first one,but in this phase your kid is able to talk to you for the first time. he will now tell you his needs himself without having you figure them out for your self. also,his needs will be less then they were.

kid phase(from age 5 to age 16)
agian,timeline is the same but this age is where your kid is a kid. this phase is the golden age of your kid,because in this phase you can set the kid's goal as an adult. if you spark an intrest in him as a mage,he will become a member of the mages guild and will study at the arcane university and will want you to give him magic traing. if you spark the intrest of a combatent he will become an area combatent and will want you to supply him with combant training. if you spark the intrest of an assians,he will become a dark brother hood assasin and will want stealth training. if you spark the interst of a thief,he wil become a thief. in this phasce he will also need to go to elementry school for a few hour of the day.

teen phase( from age 16 to age 20)

in this phase you kid is alredy a a teen and will need to go to high school,in this phase he will start to reach out of your care,which is good if you want some time alone. he will still talk to you if you want to speak to him.

adult-teen phase(age 20 to age 40)

in this phase your kid,which is no kid anymore,will go to a good college and will buy his own apartment(which you will now its location). if you made him learn to respect you in sooner phases (sorry for the english,im from another country,not the us.) he will come and visit you sometimes.

adult phase(age 40 to age 60)
----------------------------------

your pride and joy is a man now. he will have a decent job(depanding on your kid phase options you selected) he will get married and have kids of his own to take care of. you will have grandchildren to take care of but your kid will take care of them most of the time.

elder phase(age 60 to death)
your kid is now an elder,he will have an assitent to take care of him,he will walk with a cane and will at some point die. when he dies you will be able to see his grave in town,which will offer you a powerful enchantment (love of a child) that will make you invincible for a short time once a day. in advance.

That wouldn't fit in terribly well with the rest of Oblivion, would it? Getting anywhere in the life-cycle would require huge amounts of waiting, and nobody else could/would age or die either...

1) they wont age,they wil dissapper and there graveston will apper instand.
2) i know it wont fit in oblivion,but having a kid will spice up its gameplay(somthing that it seruiosly needs).
3)the waiting time would be a cuple of days and if thats long for you you can always set the timescale to 20000 and they will pass by quicly.
4)the growth and expiriance of the child is what makes the mod fun.

So, you're raising this kid who eventually becomes older than you and dies of old age before you, while you still boast long, dark hair and youthful stride.

If the kid stopped aging when he's 20 (or whatever) then maybe.

But having a kid who generally does nothing doesn't really spice up gameplay. Its just another thing to keep returning home to feed. At best, its another admiring fan.

The companion mods make more sense in every way. So does the Sims.

I specifically copied the "Something that it seriously needs" bit out of my quote so it wouldn't sound like I was saying that. How would it spice up the gameplay? How can you hope to incorporate enough situations and interactions for realistic, open-ended growth as a person in a reasonable game-time frame, and if not, how can you make it deeper than a Tamogatchi?

I don't think "Companion Mod" means what you think it means, and I still can't envision a day spent in Oblivion that can provide an acceptable "Life as a parent", regardless of where the emphasis lies. Can you maybe give me an example of an Oblivion day spent focused on this mod's contents?

yeah man this idea totaly rocks but right now it sounds kind of dull and boring you shud be able to rise him from being a kid and make him do like jobs and things like shopkeeper or miner or something. and we can make like new armuor an cloths that are like the job he does you know ? like a mining helmet if he is a minner and a chefh at if he is a chef and stuff like that

basicly what i am sayin is thta if you maek this mosd like a bigger scale then it will rock so much more like you coul make a quwest were you have tyo have a finall showdown with yor kid like in ffvii (thats my fave ff btw lol) and then he runs away an you haev to find him in a cave an rescue himm

but rihgt this mod mosly reminds me of that move about batman (not the new one lol "y so serios") where the kids mom n dad get shot and he becomes like batman or somethin. it was real cool and emotional an all that. we could problly work that in, u kno??

Well, this idea seems a little awkward to me... You'd have to be REALLY old to see your son/daughter die from aging, not to talk about the time it would take...





I smell... hmmm... Sims 1 x'D Is the kid an alien or what? Because it seems he's the only one aging! You would have to make NPCs have relationships so they could have children, everyone would age and eventually die :3

And why a man and not a woman also? Sounds sexist... I don't think this idea brings more immersion to the game... Errrr... It would, but you would have to make freaking HUGE revamp to oblivion and make it more like sims

i personally would love oblivion with aging, and then have the vampires be immortal, but then all the npcs would die, except for the immortal clone army of "guard", and that would be boring as hell

Another reason this idea won't work is you couldn't take the child anywhere as a companion. There would be too much of a chance that the child could be attacked and killed, and that's a no-no. The devs did not want dead children in the game.

Dude I really don't think oblivion is designed for that sort of mod. You could always try like.

Strange that people keep refering to the Sims when that game couldnt be farther from Oblivion.
However I do agree with nekronom12 that it would be really cool if it was possible but unfortunatly there would be too much trouble (i believe) with creating an RPG game world like Oblivion with aging involved. Aging isnt really meant for PC games. Look at Fable for instance. It had aging. Of sorts. You got older and older yet the world remains exactly the same. Even your mentor who was old when he found you hasnt died. He looks just the same all the time. Nor do any of the children ever grow up. Very odd.
