Full Version: Wearing my custom made armour makes me dissapear!

Ok, I made some simple colour and texture changes to the steel armour in Oblivion, then copied them over to the correct folders;

Oblivion/Data/Textures/Armor, Oblivion/Data/Meshes/Armour and Oblivion/Data/Textures/Menus/Icons/Armor..... bla bla bla!

To my knowlage, everything has been done right and they've all been successfully imported into TESCS and are present in the game, however there is a problem. If I wear the armour it makes me dissapear, e.g. if I wear the cuirass it makes my torso go completely invisible or if I wear the gauntlets, my hands dissapear. I cant see my arms in 1st person mode either.... confused.gif

Does anyone know what this could be?? any help is appreciated!

Thanx in advance!

I'd love to help you. Try contacted Jerros or LHammonds. They seem to be some of the best armor and texture modders on the entire nexus!

Javalin, thanks for the vote of confidence but I'm certainly not the best or even above average at making models or textures but it doesn't take the best to be able to figure things out.

Sounds like you are creating a texture replacer if I'm correct. You might want to make sure a normal map file exists along with your texture.

Example:

cuirass.dds <-- Diffuse texture
cuirass_n.dds <-- Normal map

i used to have that problem but i solved it by saving with "1 bit alpha" and generate minimaps. btw im nt trying to undermine Lhammonds as he is way better than i am at texturing but i used to have that problem.

Hmmm... Thanx for the advice, but I read the tutorial and it seems that I pretty much did all of that.. I have half a mind to just use the original normals despite the fact I've changed loads. Was just wondering though is there any way to save or convert the edited image to a normal map?? thumbsup.gif

nvm, GIMP does it. Duuhh! biggrin.gif

Thanx LHammonds, made the normals with GIMP and now, problem solved, I'm well chuffed, lol.

Sorry for not linking you to a tutorial on Normal Maps but I didn't know if you already knew how to do this. Most of the time it is a case of "oops, I forgot to copy or convert the file"
