ok well in attempt to fix my last problem i decided to completly clean out and reinstall oblivion
but now the official patch won't install!
when i try to install it it comes up with a message at 13% saying

old file not found
a file with the name name was found
content dose not match operation aborted

or somthing like that anyway. im trying to install it on a completly unmodified store bought version of oblivion.
why is this happing and more importantly how do i fix it?

spreading threads doesn't help. your issue is characteristic of nvidia card, and there are patches to solve or at least reduce the issue. something like nvidia black screen fix

Eh? He doesn't mention anything about black screen here. He can't even get into the game to have that problem. He is speaking of patch installation or am I missing something?

Indeed no, I mistake him saying fixed the issue by the other thread, since it appears no one knowing the black screen problem were present to answer he reinstalled the whole thing. Anyway he have the other thread as solved now, it seems, his real issue.
