Good news for
Premium Members! The premium download server has been modified and recoded to allow all premium members to use their download managers and accelerators on the server with full download pausing/resuming capabilities and multi-tasking/threading of downloads for faster downloads. Premium Members that are getting slow speeds on other servers are encouraged to make use of this new feature so you can download at your connection's maximum speed.
Tested download managers include Down Them All! (Fire Fox plugin), LeechGet and Free Download Manager. It's important to note that this feature is only available on the Premium Only (London) server and is not going to be available on any other server or for normal members.
Happy downloading!

Thank you for making this possible.
You can add GetRight to your list of compatible download managers.
Best regards

Fantastic! Downloading this morning was the best ever since the changeover to TESnexus. It is even more worthwhile to be a premium member!

DarkOne, this is a fabulous, and long-awaited addition to your website.
Would you please consider testing Download Accelerator Plus (DAP)? It enjoys 156 million users.

I almost always have lightning speeds from the london server as is. This definitely makes it worth having though.
Any chance of testing it to work with ReGet?

This is good news; although I don't often DL really big files from the site, and even then the speed is superb, I will now be able to pause/resume a download, which is great.
Cheers mate!

Kinda lame :S
This is one of those things which should be avaiable to everyone, it's greatly needed and takes away nothing.

Well, it's not so easy... It may seem that it takes away nothign, but the problem is that, if I'm not mistaken, using DL accelerators can lead to "leeching" (in case of abuse by some members), which in turn bogs down the capabilities of the server.

Then ban leechers, or allow only people with 20 more posts to do it or something like that, no need to drop the "Pay or starve" bomb, this would come very handy for me, not having a very fast connection, when I have to download a large file and I don't want to leave the PC on all day

The problem with opening up this feature to eveyone is in the sheer volume. If 10 people use download accelerators at any one time on a server it can greatly reduce the performance (and availablity!) of a server. They really are destructive in nature if you get too many people using them. As such this feature is better left to the premium members.
How do you propose I ban leechers? IP banning? Useless. Banning their accounts? They make more. It's a vicious cycle.

Hard ware bans work pretty well usually

Really? How do you purpose we ban hardware?
Daniel Von Rommel
Aug 3 2008, 09:28 PM
If you mean how you do use hard ware bans, I'm no expert in the matter, I have been asked what kind of ban would have worked and I'm pretty use Hardware bans are the answer, how to implement it is not my role

Entirely not feasible to track the MAC address of hardware. This is a non option.

As you wish, I know you would never do it anyways, possible or not, I do it for the mere love of discussion

I personally found the fee for a Lifetime Premium Membership to be more than fair.
Even without support for my download accelerator, I'm enjoying DL speeds of up to 838 Kbps. Thanks, DarkOne!

Planned to subscribe or at least donate once I had the required money again,
until:
Downloads before this month
Files you have downloaded before this month
This feature is only available to premium members due to the processing requirements necessary to query the download database

You no longer want to donate because a feature that can't be made available to all members because it crashes the server has been made premium only? I don't get it.

'due to crashes (rest of the bare bone explanation)' may have done a better job than 'due to the processing requirements necessary to query the download database'
That way it sounded fully 'your membership is required in order to get that feature because I want it that way although it would work fine for all' to me

Wow.
Darkone and the Moderators are too polite so I'll just say it.
If you aren't prepared to pay a small fee for something someone does not have to provide and which is on top of what is already given to you for free then you have no right to be complaining about anything here.
Do you think all of the time and equipment needed for these services costs Darkone nothing?
End of.

To sort that out:
the misunderstanding was allready cleared.
And of course I'll both donate and subscribe allthough the only interesting premium
benefit for me would be the complete d/l history - that is because I believe all the
hard work & love as well as staff f + owner manhours invested into the Nexus and
in TES Source before are worth it - even if a freecity Oblivion project became the
most reliant, biggest and faster than lightning site, you wouldn't catch me dead
on freecity
As written, currently I lack the money and my only current means of support is
releasing mods which are hopefully either useful to players and authors or are fun to play
and not just server hdd space eaters.
The job and money dilemma is there due to my health situation
- I'm glad about each day I wake up on this side and not into afterlife

There is no need for this. The situation was clarified and making posts like this is not a good idea, especially when the admin had already taken care of it. It borders on vigilantism and flamebaiting...both of which are not allowed here.

LHammonds (Moderator)Then I apologize. It just raises my ire when it seem people are complaining about services they aren't prepared to pay for and it didn't seem as though it had been resolved with DarkOne's last post having to point to documentation but there you go, the OP has clarified his position and I've apologized.

About the download history, if you download a lot as I do it becomes worthless, mine takes several minutes to load so I never bother looking at it, as it is faster to search through 210 gigs of files than wait for it to load.
Tracking a few files or favorite uploaders may be a better option.
