Last night saw a bit of down-time on the site as the Data Centre the Nexus server is hosted on went through an infastructure upgrade. I apologise for not informing you all sooner about the issue but there were difficulties in ascertaining which server was actually going down! However...
Many folks both here on the Nexus forums and over at the official Bethesda forums have commented recently on the site being slow during American peak hours. Unfortunately I haven't had the time to investigate this issue (i.e. stay up until 3am in the morning GMT/DST and do some investigative work server-side) due to various real-life issues. However in the hopes of actually getting some sleep on the night I am able to investigate the issue I wouldn't mind having some definitive times at which the site is down or very slow.
If anyone does know the times at which the site is unusable please post them up here so you can help me manage my sleep! Thank you.
The site is quite bloated and an explorative look through the code at bloated and inefficient features has been on the cards for a long time, as well as adding in some anti-spam features to help reduce load for legitimate users. It may be that the server configs just need a few very simple tweaks, it may be some buggy code (I'm no coding guru, that's for sure!) or it may mean the server hardware can't keep up with the demand for the site, in which case I'll have to dig into the old pockets again!
Statistically Sunday's are the busiest days of the week for the site where traffic tops 60,000 unique visitors and 525,000 page views for the day; that's 6 page requests a second! Such traffic figures have remained steady for the better part of 10 months now which just goes to show how strong the ES modding scene still is.

For the last week or so TESNexus has been near unusably slow between the hours of 10pm and 2am MST (Mountain Standard Time (AZ))(I've no idea what that is in GMT terms, sorry) though it is useable if one is very very patient and willing to reload the page multiple times. Odd thing is that hardly anyone is downloading at that time. The numbers usually show less than 100 people on all 4 servers during those hours. Hope this helps some.

my time is 6:17pm GMT +9.30 (Australia N.T) right now.
this site is quite slow until about 7pm
it has a habit of timing out or taking 10min just to show description/file/Screenshots and such and refreshing it just makes it take longer
I hope this helps

Wednesday, July 30th, 3am-3:30am Eastern US time: the site is crawling, with some pages only half-loading occasionally. This is the first time all day (counting yesterday, as I'm still up) I've had any speed issues, and I've visited pretty frequently today.

12:41 AM (PST) here in sunny California, which is 8:41 AM GMT, so it looks like you may get a chance to look at the slow-down over an English breakfast...
Comment page timed out and very slow response generally.
Good Luck!

I'm up and have experienced the slowdown first hand. It's an interesting one which I've deferred to a techie, but it definately looks like a server config issue rather than a server load issue. Hopefully they can come back with some helpful info.

For me it is when I get home between 00:30 - 01:00 Pacific Time. I usually e-mail myself the mods I've found at work (sshhh) and then want to download them and it is hit and miss as to whether I can even get a connection. Once I get a connection, however, the premium download is as fast as ever.

Good luck.
Cheers.

On Tuesday 7/29, my slow down occured about 8:11 PM (Hawaii) and remained liked that till I went to sleep around 10:30 PM (lol early, but I work the next day...).
This slow down usally happens to me during this time. At any other time, this site is very fast and I have no problems.
I hope the above helps any.

Accessing the site and changing pages went really well this morning, so you must have cracked it, Dark0ne. Needless to say, downloading as a premium member is now fantastic. Even more reason for folks to subscribe.

Site slowdown at 6:10 CT (-6 GMT I think). I haven't tried downloading anything but the main site (including RSS feeds) is very slow. Slow enough to cause timeouts in some cases.

The site is still going through slow-downs. The bandwidth graph takes a steep dive around 9AM GMT and it's still in it's stoop so interesting that you say the site is ok for you. It's definately slow for me even now, and it's normally sorted itself out by now. Something needs kicking me thinks.
Edit: Just found something that I think might be the cure to all this, and it was a server-side issue with the log files. It's definately sped things up since I've dealt with it. Wait and see until tomorrow now I guess!

At 2:01am Eastern US, the initial page ceased loading after the header, and upon refreshing, I was immediately given an error stating that the MySQL database was inaccessible. The site is currently (2:30am) fast and reliable.

For the past few days, this site appears to be normal. I haven't encountered any more slugglish/molasses like page loading.
Darkone, maybe you should put up a new poll to see if users are still encountering any slowdowns or any hiccups for this site.
Thanks for addressing the issue. Later.

Early morning around 8:30am EST, took forever to load website and content like files, pics, etc. I'm still trying to view a couple new uploads and it's almost 9:30am EST.
I hope the site settles down some, kudos to guys/gals here at TESNEXUS for the great site and lists of mods!
Have a great day!

I tried to DL from the England server at 21:16, Monday, (08/09/2008) and it took over 5 minutes. At this point I gave up and clicked the Texas Server, Instant response.
Don't know if this helps.

P.S. I'm in North of England and on 8mb BT Broadband.
