I'd love to go back to the middle ages. To see real knights and real jousting. To see Chivalry at its peak, and the clothing that was worn. To walk amoung soldiers, squires, knights and royalty would to me be the coolest of things to do!

It's scary what we can do under the influence of alcohol!
Two lad's in my town got drunk at new year and painted the mayors garage pink with gren Cocks on it (verry strange sight)
The mayor was at the time preforming with the Local band, think he got a real shock when he got home to his Pink garage with green guyparts on it XD

I would go back to the time the first video game was made and give them a few computers and Xboxes to reverse engineer and dramatically speed up the evolution of video games and computers. That was the gamer side of me talking now for the serious side.

Mainly I would go to Scandinavia circa 600 AD - 900 AD and live as a Norse king. That's also probably where I would live. I would bring modern medical technology along with me so I don't have to die in my 40's.
Also I would probably briefly visit ancient times, 1970's, 1980's, my birth and childhood in the 1990's, and 2000-2007 and 2008 before July 26th.
Too bad you can't go into the future, if I got to do that then my reign of Scandinavia would last for hundreds of years. Basicly be Odin in human form.

I would steal a fruity boy-band's lyrics and take them back in time before they were actually written. Then, their work would be mine and i would have girls screaming for me and swim in money.
I would also go back in time and see my ancestors and go to Valhalla with them.

I would go back to the period from just after the Franco-Prussian war, and just before WW1. Such a creative time artistically, musically, etc. Of course...I would have had to be rich, tall, blond and probably languidly homosexual and an absinthe drinker. But, hey! One must make sacrifices for Art!
...and I'll bet that nobody opts for going back as a poor grovelling peasant, at any time.

I would:
- Stay in my time for a few days stealing as much money as possible
- Then go back in time and put the money in a bank.
- Go back to my time but the day before I started stealing all the money
- Go to the back and withdraw all the money and be mega-rich
easier than doing work for it!

1930s Germany. I'd tell Hitler to only deport the Jews; be happy with only Germany.
He did a lot for his country, and if not for the Jew thing and the war, he'd be down in history as one of the greatest heroes of that country. Possibly one of the most famous men of the century. And if he didn't listen...heh...I'd kill him.
EDIT: d'oh.... just noticed Halororor mentioned Hitler. Leaving as is because used the topic in a paper in college.

If I was trying to stay out of the way of history, I'd probably go back to around the late 1890s or early 1900s, it was just an age of frontiers, where one could live life free, from one day to the next. The great war hadn't started yet, colonialism was dying, and anyone with some education could make a fair living.
If I didn't give a damn about preserving history, that would be a different story. I'd tell the Native Americans about demons which came from the sea, teach them how to build simple machines, create black powder, build roads, and prepare defences in those places where white settlers would arrive from, and get them situated with enough technology to make them the dominant force. All just to see if it could be done.

I almost cannot come up with a response. very touching, art is derived from these strong feelings and nothing to do with greed or money, some art uplifts from the state of mind the audience is in and that is far beyond criticism by anyone. Critics judge themselves and I think your writing can open their eyes.

Ah when I was younger I thought like you, but now I am older, I realise no words can open eyes..Bards pass like the gentle breeze on a spring day, they lay their wares, their songs, their poems, their prose, and their pearls, and time shows, and ages and lifetimes show them that nothing opens eyes but ones own soul..The pull of the worlds materialism, and I will have time tmr, and the running about going nowhere is the times, we are in..
People fear the loss of comfort and support and acceptance of those arround them..to fly with their souls, to high of a risk and price, comes, that not even twin souls can take, then who can..
So the Bard just passes like the breeze and hope that someone smells the flowers, and takes them in their heart..
Thank you for you words, and your respect..Now we better get back on topic before the moderators rightfully so, fly down upon us..

about that.. I'm sure they are not worrying about it, they're cool, if these last few comments have not provoked more than a slight inconvenience then the problem wouldn't be us going off-topic. Why else would you go back in time, to stay the same? no, to change and that brings me to this point, some people do not have the will to really change things until some incident of some kind effects them directly, sometimes any kind, sometimes we think little of change because the only thing that has "worked" is following along with or sticking to what we know, change can be bad, good or both but it is one and the same and unavoidable. your reply I appreciate and it is a breath of fresh air

Exactly..what you said...many do not have the will, unless, some great event, opens their eyes..and that this world peer pressure, of acceptence, is so great, also is strong for some, at any age..
Aye I know a near death experience in this life changed me, and also made me aware..of why I was here...but if you change yet the one you love does not out of fear, yet loves you so, yet is afraid to love you..Fear, becomes greater than love, and in this lifetime it is the saddest thing I have ever witnessed,
Which is why I wrote what I did in the first place..I would change what happened to us then, and be born at the right place and time, for her words were to me, if only I had met you first..
For some of us, like me, I risk all for what i love, I risk losing all, including the acceptance of the world family or friends, i do not need it, or the worlds money, things or approval,, there is no price upon me soul, and i have suffered great consequences for that choice..But to see your twin soul , who loves you as much as you do her, choose fear over love..A teardrop falls from the stars, upon barren gound..and even the winged ones weep.
You are also a breath of fresh air..Thanks for engaging in a meaningful conversation..

I have known many people to have changed their minds from a traumatic experience. friends and family are the most important things to me, a few of mine will never have the chance to make things right due to these traumatic experiences.. I wake up every morning trying to appreciate the people and things i have in the world right front of me, rather than chasing something that could be not what i expected, or to build myself around one thing, such as love. therefore i find myself defending others' feelings, aspirations, love and their own well-being in general, while discarding most of these things in myself at every turn. If i were to be looking for one thing in life, it would be time.. a twin soul may be one person.. it also may be everything - as one
if there were to be one thing that i live by, it would be that love is not meant to be chased, compromised, sheltered or hidden - that of any kind. I feel constantly reminded that the person we are all looking for may not be found, after all, if we cannot handle life without this we could not handle losing it once we have found it

Aye agreed, but as your last sentence said it all, I will leave this at that..for no more can be said..one can handle finding, and losing it in a sense, yet keeping a freind..it is what unconditional love is about, to accept no matter how painful the choices of those we love, and love them anyways..
With that i take my leave...and am glad we had this time though brief to converse..
May the sun be always at your back, may the road rise to meet you, and may your way be free of stones that trip, but if they do, may that same road rise you up again, and keep you walking..may your journey be ever downhill all the way to your front door.Where a warm fire is there always to greet you..

I'd go back to April 1st, 1980, and advise the pilots involved in Operation: Eagle Claw (the failed rescue attempt of US Hostages in Iran) to prepare themselves and their vehicles for the sandstorm.
If that mission had succeeded, President Carter would have been hailed as a hero, Reagan wouldn't have won the 1980 election, George Bush Sr. wouldn't have had his turn in office, we wouldn't have George Jr. in office right now, and the entire course of world history over the past three decades would be drastically different.
People think the 'Butterfly Effect' is BS? Five kilograms of sand can change the destiny of all humanity. Operation: Eagle Claw is proof of that.
