OK, first post. Go easy on me, i tried a quick search and nothing came up but it may have been suggested before.

Is it possible to mod the game so you can have more than one character in the game world? What i mean is whatever happens in one characters savegame happens in the other one aswell (or maybe more than one). It would sort of be like a party system. Say you have a sneaky marksman but you need some powerful magic to progress past something, you could make a mage style character to come along and help. And maybe the character(s) you are not playing could act as companions so they follow you around until you switch to their save?

Ive never really looked to deeply into modding oblivion before so im not sure if this would be possible but if you know how to manipulate saves i dont image it would be that difficult to pull off.

Well there are plenty of Companion mods. Toasters Companion Share and Recruit is one of the best of them. and witht hat it wouldnt be too hard to make a custome companion.

I think this guy means like 2 different people from 2 different pc on the same game. Sorry man from what I know it anit possible unless Bethesda makes a new elder scrolls with an online thing like Hellgate or something like that unless they do that I dont think its possable but I would have to say the game would be fun if it was like that or at least a 2 player game.

I didnt think my idea would be this hard to understand.

You would have more than 1 save game, on 1 machine. Each with different characters, but whatever happens in one of the characters would happen in all the others. Like:

If you killed someone, they would be dead in all the saves.
If you finished a quest, it would be finished in all the saves.
If you get a unique weapon it wouldnt be available in another save since the first character already has it.
If you move and object somewhere it will be moved in all the saves.

You would only play one at a time of course. The companion idea was simply so that all the characters will stay together so you dont have to keep swapping around to get them all together.

thats a heavy and really not great idea for the game system it could really hurt the game

Now I understand what you mean but this has been asked before the closest thing to what your asking is well I cant exactly remeber what its name is but you can share stuff from one save game to another on one pc. Other then that Im not sure you could do that and even if you could if one person finishes the game no one else could same with say dark brotherhood quests and well the same would go for every other quest if one person litteraly finished the entire game no one else could so theres your answer. I hope that I finally got what you meant.

I must dissagree. Why should that matter? You win the game with one character and it's won with the other characters as well - what's your point? It's not like if you couldn't play the game after you finish the MQ.

Anyway, that's not that important, quest sharing wouldn't have to be in this mod for I care, I do however find the idea of using your own savegame chars as companions as very interesting and would Indeed like that implemented. Coupled with a savegame/profile manager of course that would rock harder than the uniffied effort of L70ETC and Slipknot lol.

That isn't the way the engine is designed for. If in someway it's accomplished it's the first step to turn Oblivion multiplayer, a much more interesting concept that just share the world among more than one Player character and indeed is something already being attempted.

You mean MultiTES4, right?

I don't know much about the project beyond being attempted and knowing this is nothing trivial to do.

do you like the dark brotherhood if so if one of your characters beats all of their quests no other character can. If one of your characters beats every quest in the game I said this before all you can do is a mindless killing spree(nothing wrong with that but I like for most of my guys to kill in quests too).

As I've said I'd rather have such a mod without quest sharing.

But if it came with a profile manager that could let you set which characters share quests and which characters can be used as companions - then that would be realy nice.

Yeah, my idea was for characters you select. Not all of them. Since the world would be shared it didnt make sense to kill the same person for a quest more than once or close the same oblivion gate twice.

i meant the ones directly linked to the main quest. Like the kvatch one and the massive one in bruma

I actually want the same thing as the OP. I have lots of characters instead of one and I would like them to be able to all affect the same world.

A mod I suggested a few years back would be a utility to allow me to create new characters as normal but then have them drop into the game world as adventuring npc's who actually go places and do things. They would spawn on occasion n various cells, enter dungeons, etc.

I just want to be able to do something with 15 birthsigns, a hundred classes, and hundreds of costumes I have collected.

Oblivion online is what you should search for if you are looking for some sort of multiplayer for oblivion, although right now development is really slow as it is run by a single dev and several testers... Currently in 0.5, at least they got it working somewhat.

They at least proved it is possible to do this on youtube, so search oblivion online on youtube and see.

MultiTES4 was developed by THEFerret after he left the oblivion online team...
And then Chessmaster tried to take over the dev and left with some resources, trying to set up his own projects somewhere else and taking credits for it....

It is little complicated to install and make it work...but it is good...
It allows you to play more characters in one world, like if you drop sword with one character you will be able to pick up it with another character...

Appearantly it isn't like have another character standing there physically, but allows to change to a different character.

IT sure isn't a "multiple character in one world" kind of thing...

To be more on topic, you would need a mod which prepares characters ahead of time and a script that stores all items that character holds. A bit of alternative would be to have the ability to switch to another character while the one being used will be freed and turned into a freelance npc.
