Hello, i have this REALLY annoying problem of the slow motion. i have a good amount of mods installed, yes, but i made my collection of mods in a previous installation, had a few problems (not game related), reinstalled windows, etc, you know the deal...
so i started over with ALL those mods from the begining... marts, ooo, oonas, lost spires, natural environments, open cities, gtaasgard,rens beauty pack, a few houses, some armors ,weapons, companions and so on... the usual

the thing is that i have played this character for a very LONG time (that's level 35 with mostly everything on the 100's) without a single hiccup, until recently that all of a sudden my character start moving in slow motion.... even though the jumping animation, attacking, and even power attacking or shield bashing work at expected speed... even the world around and the movement of the npcs are normal.


can someone PLEASE tell me how can i either reset the character's speed (not the skill) or point me to a patch or solution?



oh and talking about skill, i had this issues with the mmm's ghostly apparition, how long does their damage to fatigue is supposed to last? and does'nt it is supposed to reset on a chapel? how can i undo that? had the same problem with mmm's goblin assasins and health :S lucky me i found a patch that disables them.

oh, and before you suggest to load an earlier savegame, i already did, and YES it worked, until some time where the same problem appeared in some OTHER place... doing some other things totally different

This may sound stupid but have u accidently pressed toggle-run off so that he is walking im not trying to make you sound stupid but i have done so many times and got realy annyod this is just an idea ?

oh no, my friend... when i say slo motion, i mean SLOOOOOOW mooooooootiooooon (with pitched down voice) wether it's running or walking. but strangely enough i decided to keep on playing like that and after a while (about a real hour) where i didnt even get to the city doors :S it suddenly disappeared.. PHEW! man that was bad! but i'm afraid it will return! since i have'nt disabled anything! now that slowmo, animation have found it's home on fires... yep... that's right, now all fires animation are slow motion. oh and display cases all take like 5 mins to open.


anyone know something? thanks though

I had a similar problem on my old machine before I upgraded my HDDs and Video card, occasionally my characters (didn't matter what one) would get "locked" in the block stance and would move REALLY Slooooooooooowwwwwwwwwww. To get out of it I would keep hitting the "draw/sheath weapon" key and "block" button multiple times, and eventually I would be freed. After I reinstalled my game on my new system I installed the proper drivers for my wireless mouse and I haven't had the problem since. I've been told that this type of anomaly including (the 1st person view jumping up and down) has to do with the wireless optical mouse reseting itself while in use. (Proper drivers and good batteries seem have fixed it for me)

Odd, I've never seen this before at all.

Try disabling all of the mods you have active and try just the game without ANY mods at all or add-ons. If that fails, turn your mods back on, and then turn the graphics down slightly.

your last post seems to point at heavily bloated savegames and/or too many items (have you something like bag of holding clone?). Yet this doesn't explain the character slow motion, however weird this may seems your problem may be related to CPU overloaded at least so much as the GPU itself.

Edit: make sure you have the last patch, some of the symptoms described are very alike the formid bug that plagued the prepatched game, mainly with SLI installed aswell.

Edit2: Maybe is advised try and identify the problem before acting. But I advise you downloading the Wrye's Bash utility so to be prepared to perform some unbloating procedure, a dangerous but sometimes the only solution.

What kind of fps are you getting on average?

And the MMM fatigue problem can be fixed by downloading the 'stat fixer' (or something along those lines) should be able to find it if you just search about, I had the same issue a while back.

ive had this happen before.... i even uninstalled the game then re installed and it still did it.. i honestly cant remeber how i fixed it though sorry dude. it happened to me when running about 4 mods so im not sure what it is.

well, that's easier said than done, with the amount of mods i have and the nature of those, mmm, ooo, origin of the mages guild, lost spires? if i even try to disable them all of a sudden, i am affraid my character would go gooey and start a killing spree across cyrodiil (not that he doesn't do just that from time to time) that is IF the game loads... i've heard about lockups when suddenly disabling even one of those big mods....not to mention all of them


now my fps... well, since i have open cities, my fps had settled in a mere 35fps (from a steady 60fps without it)
even though i have a LOT of mods, my machine is a fairly decent one (core 2 duo 2.4, 2gb ram ddr2 800, nvidia 8600gt 512, and plenty of free defragmented raid 0 hard drive space, about 200gb) besides, i also use some optimizing mods like operation optimization, an enviromental texture pack (can't remember the name) that optimizes performance, errr... that one that does pcb automatically :S , another one that optimizes the distant lod without losing objects in the distance.... and... errr... a few more i think next time i will have ready a list of the mods i use.


i know it has something to do with the mods i use, not the hardware (uh, i have no wireless mouse but thanks) but the question is which one(s) and how do they affect the game in such an odd manner, othewise i would make a patch mod myself to use at the end of the load order

oh, umm.... having too many items, huh? err.... yes i've noticed that happen a few times when opening a chest BLOATED with stuff.... such as the midas chest (what a great invention) but that lag is easyly resolved by emptying said chest and reorganizing it's contents into several other ones ( such as my main headquarters chests at the armorylab) and yes i do have a lot... and i mean a LOT of items, but even when i open some of the most err... copious? chests (such as the arrows chest) i do not experiment any lag (let alone the midas chest as it is another story)

umm, wrye bash... yes, i have it... what do i do with it? i mean.... what do you mean by "unbloating"? and exactly how "dangerous" can it get?

and...finally thank you very much flaming_gerbil. i am already searching for that patch you mentioned

bloats are items created by some mod but fails at being eliminated from the save game. They may be not even visible in the world but they are there, lurking in the shadows smile.gif growing ever and ever in number until they manage to get your game crawling and eventually crashing.

Most nowadays mods are aware the problem and avoid the functions known as cause of then (like the PlaceAtMe), before the patch any game played with shivering Isles would be subject then even without mods. Some misdesigned mods can even generate then at thousands in seconds.

They tend to let the save game big and the instances of items approaching the limit number in their formid is a symptom.

Wrye Bash have a function to unbloat savegames... anyway remember this is only a possibility, maybe the issue doesn't have anything to do with bloats.

Edit: Yet the symptoms you describe are characteristic of bloats or sheer items number.

I had the same problem, or almost the same. I was playing and i wanted to cut someones head off (with deadly reflex), but afterwards i was still moving in slow motion. It was really annoying and i had to reload a previous save game to solve it confused.gif

guys, i now know exactly what is happening to my game, and probably yours...


i (we) have been struck by a known oblivion animation bug (man!, not another one!) and it is NOT caused by any mods, or wether the game is patched or not.. bashed or bloated.... the only condition you have to meet to be hit by this annoying bug is to have over 200 game hours (which explains why loading a recent save doesn't work, but loading an old one does, or starting a new game... what it does not explain is how my character regained his... errr.... normality in exchange for bugged fires, and more recently spell effects. nor does it explain this really ODD behaviour i discovered while watching the effect.

CONTAGIOUS SLOW MOTION

well it goes like this i was watching the odd slow fire at a camp in the middle of nowhere (north of kvatch mor precisely) when a pack of wolves appeared, of course i whipped out my sword and started slashing away... the problem started when i dodged one of the wolves and accidentally stepped on the campfire (yes, the bugged one) then i was infected by the slow motion! (i'm dead, i thought) but then the attacking wolf also treaded on the fire and was infected TOO!! and then another one!... of course i lost the battle, since a spriggan and her bear pet joined the fray, but when i reloaded i went to a well know fire, such as the arcane university entrance, that purple fire, you all know it, well i jumpt right into it, and yes... you guessed... it IS contagious.

but you didnt come here to read my story did you? yeah, i got carried on...

Slow Animation Bug- usually effects saved games with over 200 hours of play time.

It's a really odd bug. Cast a spell and you'll be left enveloped in a static haze of spell effect, or doors can take about 5 minutes to creak open. Everything else continues to run at normal speed. It can start at any time, usually after 200 hours, and is most noticeable when you're exploring a cave or ruin. Bethesda know about it but have been unable to fix it thus far.

Apparently, this is because the integer or something for a particluar byte in a saved game file reaches a value that is too high (anything over 40), which for some reason affects the animations. The above utility resets the value to 40, which fixes the problem. Way cool. Fortunately for PC users there's a handy utility.

oh, i've also read that the unofficial oblivion path fixes this, but, the problem is that it inserts a huge fps drop into the game!
not to mention the download size

really, i mean, i install it to have all the fixed textures and meshes in place, but skipping the esp which slows down everything... well, you might have noticed that i stated that i use a LOT of mods so i am rightly concerned about performance

i see you are running deadly reflex..

the other day when i as fighting.. i cutted an Npc in half.. and everything became slowmotion..

the slow motion thing did not stop until i had killed everyone and the fight was over..

could this be the same problem we where having??

i've been hearing a lot of fuddling with deadly reflex recently... and even though i am using the latest version and have had no problems at all.... well, that's maybe because i do not use mounted spellcasting...

but really, i have never had a problem with deadly reflex, but if you do, then i would recommend you patch your savegame with the animation fixer i found
