Anybody know why Morrowind keeps crashing at random times and dumping me to my desktop? None of my mods conflict and i checked programflow and warnings text and it doesn't help.
There doesn't seem to be any reason for it to crash, it's just random. Good thing i usually save a lot:)
It's not a major problem, just really, REALLY annoying. Specially when it does it like it has a few mins ago: i spent ages fighting a daedra lord and two golden saints, i finally win and i'm on my desktop!(good thing i saved before the battle, still have to fight them again tho, argh!).
Is it just a random game glitch or is there some underlying problem i don't know about?

Morrowind seems to crash more than most programs I've dealt with. Finicky I guess. The best place to look for possible answers is the "pinned" topic in this forum about crashes to desktop. The posts there will give you recommendations for various settings and things to try. I've tried many of them, and in honesty I still crash too much, but I've tinkered with a lot of mods over time, and my personal opinion is that if you have a bunch, even if they aren't checked and active, you can have conflicts due to the various meshes, icons, sounds and other stuff floating around the game directories.

Thanks.
I do have a lot of mods etc, probably an issue with one of those. Tho to be honest i'm starting to think a just downright awkward computer plays a part in it too, even games i've been playing for years that worked flawlessly on my old computer crash randomly on my new one. Seems to be an issue with my desktop resolution in most cases.
Wonder if the res has anything to do with it...i have morrowind set to 1024x768

I know someone with tthat same problem, but his computer just crashed even though he didnt have ANY mods on, or even installed at the time. His game crashed even before he knew about mods.

The infamous CTD's cannot be avoided, to my knowledge. They just happen randomly due to conflicts I guess. Maybe the game was accessing a bad sector on your hard drive, anything could cause it.
It does this to everyone (except XBOX people, of course) so you're not alone. I just bought a new computer back in January and I get CTD's on it also. I do notice that it happens alot more when you have many mods installed, as I do right now.
Just remember... F5!
