Aseir watches with a bit of amusement as the "soldiers" try to arrange their tents. Half of them seem completely hopeless at the simple task. Hardly the best allies to have in this place, he thinks, questioning the wisdom of his presence here. But he keeps his thoughts to himself, not wanting to be forced to watch his back any more than he has to.
After a while, he gets tired of watching and retrieves his own tent from his pack. The small one man tent is set up in a few minuites, and a few minuites later he is asleep.

After some minor troubles you all succeed in getting the tents up, tho the hour has become late and the officer decides to call it a day.
Some of you go sleeping, others go have a drink. The night passes rather calmy, only some marching by troops disturb the silence of the night.
At a rather early time, the trumpets wake up the entire encampment. It's a beautifull day in Asgard and when you get out of the tent you notice that Lena had spoken the truth on the Eutopia. The Plains were indeed marvelous. As she said, they remind you of the Grazelands but less rocky and far more greener. You can hardly believe that there is a war raging in this land.
You decide to get some breakfast. Unfortunatly this time the food isnt as great as it was in Hawkmoth. You confort yourself with the idea that this food is better than nothing.
After break fast, your commanding officer orders you to gather up on your terrain.
<Allright men. I havent got the chance to introduce myself. The name is Captain Claudius. I've serverd the Imperial Legions for over 15 years now. Now that you all know me it's time to get to work. Some of you problably never got involved into battle, so some of you arent able to use that blade. Today we're going to work on that. I dont want any lethal accidents so we'll be training with wooden swords today.>
Some troopers give each one of you a wooden blade.
<Allright, drilmaster Marcus here will show us some moves. You will practise them with a partner, so get yourself a buddy!>
Soon the drilmaster begins to show you some attack and defence moves. The more experienced among you see that this drilmaster knows what he's doing and that the moves he's teaching you are worth something.

"Not that I know why they teach to fight with honour," he mutters under his breath. "On a battlefield you do all you can to survive, no matter what!"
Aloud he says: "Anyone willing to go a round?"

Khamir stands and he's been in a kind of shock since arriving in Asgard. Nothing could have prepared him for this sight. His words on the boat seem to haunt him every second of every day"I would give my life for..." he keeps thinking that this will be were his life will end. THat he will never again get to till the land and farm. He will never again be able to walk threw the woodlands near his farm. Then he makes a decision, he will put every single bit of effort he has into training. Every ounce of strength will be giving so that he may live his life after this war. He walks up to the nearest soldier and asks, "When does my training begin?" then he waits.

Aseir, having just "defeated" his practice opponent, overhears Morgoth's "shut your gob!" comment. Such attitude could be fatal in a real fight, he thinks as he steps quietly into position beside and slightly to the front of Morgoth. As Morgoth prepares to follow up through the gap in Torvild's defenses, Aseir's hand drops to his ceremonial katana. He waits for Morgoth to begin his swing, then in one fluid motion draws the sword and slashes through Morgoth's blade. The almost impossibly sharp Habassan steel cuts through effortlessly, and half Morgoth's sword drops to the ground a few feet away.
"Now that I have your attention," he says calmly as Morgoth stares at his newly reduced sword, "your attitude is only going to get you killed, likely along with a few of us. I don't care if you want to remove yourself from this world, but the rest of us don't wish to join you. Get along with them or I'll deal with you myself." At the last part, he lowers the point of his sword, ready for an upward slash to cut Morgoth in half.

He throws Morgoth a new wooden sword.
"Let us see what we can achieve in blocking. I will go first, trying different attacking strokes. You must parry or block with sword and shield. After five minutes we will reverse the operation. You attack and I will block. This is not a matter of winning but of helping each other."

It might very well be that we move out within a few days if everything goes according to plan if not, our departure may be a lot earlier than everything expected. For a whole week everything remains silent, you fill your days with training, chatting with your new made comrades. You hope things keep going this way but deep inside you cant help thinking about the war. It has been weeks since last heard from the front.
You arent excatly jumping to go but something makes you nervous and exited.
One week later: You are all enjoying your breakfast. Even Lena has sat down at your officerstable. You caught her several times on a smile, something she problably hasnt done for a few weeks. The war seems so far away...
Suddenly an imperial trooper runs towards Lena and the officers. They quickly rise from their chairs and run towards the entrance of the encampment. You cant help yourself but you just have that strange feeling like something is wrong, terribly wrong... You leave your breakfast as for what it was and follow the running officers. AS you run trough the encampment you see that you are not the only one who pays attention to the incident. Soldiers from different fields run towards the entrance, some of them you've never seen before.
As you arrive at the wooden gate you see a cricle of officers surrounding a horse. It's right flank is covered with blood, on the ground lays an Imperial soldier, cleary Imperial cavalry. His face is mostly covered with blood and so is the right side of his torso. He's in a terrible shape though seems determined to tell his story.

I escaped but was wounded during the siege... All I know is that the Nomads are heading towards Lorianna... You must go to Lorianna... must....go... |
It was the end, after those last words the trooper died.
Lena starts yelling in fury!
<Everybody, collect your gear! We are moving out! We are moving out!>
Drilsergeants repeat the order and the crowd vaporises.
Everybody understands the importance of the fact that Lorianna cant fall. Lorianna, capital of Asgard, if Lorianna falls, so will entire Asgard.
Two hours later you march a rather high speed trough the Asgardian Fields. No longer you can pay attention to the beauty of Asgard. No... No longer. Now you cant think but anything else but the upcoming battle.
As you look around, everybody seems to think about the same thing.

<Act like we are talking about the land...> She says while she points to some trees to create a diversion to all those who might be watching.
<10 years ago a nomadic people invaded Asgard and claimed it as there own, tho they never got far. The war raged for over 5 years but that was caused by the nomadic tactics. They come, strike and disappear. That made it hard for the Asgardian Force to track them down and go into combat. We defeated them and they left to the no-mans land, behind the Fire-mountains. Last year it seemed as they returned however with numbers never seen before and they didnt used their old tactics. Tho, I have been a soldier for a very long time and even a blind man can see that we arent facing the same opponent.>
She makes another gesture as she points to some grassy fields.
<You ask me about the captured parts. Now, this is totally unlike what a nomadic people would do! They kill those who oppose but they take the captured lands for their own. They do not destroy the cities, nor pillage them. They just occupy them. I have never seen a nomadic people do this.>
She looks around carefully, making sure that no high Imperial officer is listening.
<I have a theory, tho it's only a theory for now but I think it was never the intention to occupy Asgard... I think they are using Asgard as a backdoor to the Empire... But why Asgard then? Simple, the other nations that surround the Empire are much larger and are friendly towards the Empire. Let's say if they attack a frienly nation and defeat it, there is still another nation in their path to the Empire. Asgard does not have that advantage... To the north-west lays the Empire and to the North-east lays a no-mans land. Land where they could send their troops trough easily and without stepping on any-ones toe's... Off-course the Empire deny's all this. According to them it are just nomads. Rather pathetic, the mighty Empirial Legions are getting one hit after a nother by a nomadic people...>
She whispers that last sentence rather sarcastic.

Small independent states can never survive. I will help in the interests of peace in the Empire as a whole. But if we are not facing regular troops or regular tactics them perhaps we cannot reply as regular troops."
He looks at Morgoth. "Perhaps we should use their tactics and begin a series of raids behind their front line. It would at least have the advantage of being unexpected."
He turns to Lena. "What do you think?"

The Asgardians are not as stuborn as the Imperials... The first thing we should do would be to get in contact with the Asgardian Force but since the defeat at the Mista-line, who knows where they might be... Maybe if we reach Lorianna we might find something out... At least, if we survive the Anacon Fields...>
Lena just finished her sentence when the Imperials give order to start marching again. You decide to stick near Lena because for some unknown reason she gives you the feeling that you might trust her.
