I'm trying to install the v1.2.0416 patch so I can use OBSE, but the install won't start. I close all other programs like it says, but when the loading bar appears, it immediately says Update Aborted.
What do I do?

What version of Oblivion are you using? There are versions for several languages, and 2 English language versions UK & US. they are different.
Also, many cracked versions will not work, and the D2D version will only work with a D2D patch.

How do I figure out what version I'm using? Also its not cracked.

Sometimes a security feature of Vista interferes with installing things. first you need to be running as an administrator. Then you may need to disable UAC.
Here is a link to a site that tells you how to disable UAC.
Vista users may have to disable a security function known as UAC. If you have downloaded and installed, and the mod is appearing in your Data Files List, but not in your game check to see if UAC is turned on. If so. If your using SI you can instal the SI patch and it does the same thing
I second what coltaine says, if you install SI it will patch your game to 1.2.0416 even if you've got.... .... well.. let's just say a less than legal copy (even if it's legitimately backed-up).. It's not what I do *coughcough* but... *cough* some people do =] Mind you, I think you'll still need your disc in order for OBSE to run properly

Yeah... Not that my copy isnt legit, my copy just WONT WORK!!!! lol

And I doubt its a vista security thing, since this is the only game I can't patch and install.

Yeah you can install SI but u might need to get a new NO CD, I use one just to preserve my CD,
