I'm trying to do the Fingers of the Mountain quest (Chorrol recommendation).

However, the Fingers of the Mountain book which is supposed to be on a charred body next to a pillar at Cloud Top doesn't appear.

As you can see in this screenshot there's a charred body lying next to the pillar: http://oblivion.wikia.com/wiki/Image:CloudTop.jpg

But, as you can see in mine it doesn't appear: http://pcfanatics.googlepages.com/Oblivion...13-27-16-28.jpg

Is there any fix? I'd rather fix this bug than use the "setstage MG05Fingers 30" command.

Thanks,
Craig.

Wow. I spent about 20 minutes combing through the Wiki on this. The charred corpse is mentioned in a couple of places, but unfortunately there is no FormID to be found. I was hoping to find that so you could use the Console to force it to reappear.

Apparently it's one of those hard-coded objects you can't do anything with except to retrieve the book.

Have you tried moving your cursor around that general area to see if it changes to the activation symbol? (Thinking along the lines it might be "invisible").

Perhaps you can get around this by forcing the book into your Inventory. Unfortunately I found two books. Here they are with In-Game Dev ID names:

player.additem 1101 1 (MG05FingersBook)

player.additem 510D 1 (MG05FingersMiscBook)

I'm guessing it's the first one.

Good luck.

The book might not be there until the correct stage of the quest... ("Teekeeus has asked that I find the Fingers of the Mountain text, and bring it to him immediately. I need to search Cloud Top for the book.").

i would suggest waiting a day or even removing any mods that affects that certain area, or if that doesnt work, bring down the price of a cremation in cyrodill.... okay i joke, but seriously try the console idea varus had, it works, i just tried it...
