Today sees the launch of the latest feature addition to the file database at TESNexus. Authors can now upload their readme text files (in .txt format) to the site so users can view the ReadMe for your files before they download the file itself.

This new feature is available from the Manage Your Files section of the member area. Each of your files has a new option, Upload ReadMe that, when clicked, will take you to the ReadMe uploader.

Files with ReadMe's attached to them will have a new option on their file page under the "Options" box next called "View ReadMe". If this option is not present then a ReadMe has not been uploaded for that particular file.

A Great Idea.

Good to see something like this being implemented.

Any chance of other file formats being supported? The best ReadMes are HTML files, for example, in my opinion - is support possible for these?

How are the .txt files rendered, by the way? Are they simply opened in the editor of your choice, or are they displayed within the site itself? If the latter, I presume non-txt files would pose a problem...

Correct. People with HTML files could easily upload their readme in a zip as a normal download labelled "ReadMe".

Great functionality and it works nice! Thanks DarkOne smile.gif

I've been updating my mods with the latest readme file...problem is that I end up fixing several things in old readme files and then need to modify the description to match the readme and then need to update the RELz Thread if it still exists and dang...it takes forever with all the files I have uploaded. hehehe. Slowly but surely.

Nice feature and I'm glad it's here.

Thanks,
LHammonds
