in the strategy guide, it says that theres an ebony shortsword on odai plateau, but i can NEVER find it and I want it and im starting to get frustrated

Cheating, and possible spoiler ahead!












In order to get the ebony shortsword, you have to open the console by hitting the ~ key above the tab key. when the console is open, type in tcl, and you should be able to just walk right through the ground/walls/etc to find the sword. Also, if this didn't make any sense to you check in the Morrowind Lore forum, I think they covered this topic there.

Yea that bothered me too. How come they put it in the strategy guide if you have to type in a console command to get it? It says in the guide that the weapon is just lying out there. Yea... lying in a rock.

Maybe the guide tried to make it sound like the movie "Sword in the Stone." If you can find, and pull the sword out of the stone then you are like destined to become the Neravarine (or something like that).

I looked and looked and could find it I cheacked every rock I could 5 or 6 times! did the code book say [U]in odai plataeu or around it somewere?

If your going to cheat and use the console you might as well use the additem command and get it. If you're goign to cheat you might aswell cheat all the way and not even bother looking for it.

Hey! I've got a wonderful plan! Edit the journal using the console, and set the main quest as completed. That way, you'll win the game without much trouble, and you won't need that ebony sword.
Don't take this seriuosly. That was just my anti-cheat side, gone out of control.

Stand in the middle of the Odai plateau and look southwest. See the tallest rock above the plateau? That tallest rock projects from a larger rock above the plateau. Use TCL and look just below the surface of that larger rock near the side of the tallest rock.
Take the ebony shortsword and cut off the heads of anyone who complains about cheating.

Use the Constuction set, get to the platue, and highlight everything there. if it is there you will find it.
