I was thinking about a cursed object that when picked up (by the player or NPC) will trigger a random disaster. Here are my first ideas:

Drought
Slowly lowering the water height until its non-existent. Then change the shade of grass to yellowish. Then remove all the leaves from the game (I don’t know if this is possible). Have everyone take light damage (like a vampire).

Meteor Strike
A blinding flash above one of the mayor cities and that part of the world is engulfed in a giant fireball, leaving only a crater.

Flood
It start with continuous heavy rain, as the water height slowly rises. People who stay in the water take damage. Only those that can swim and heal will survive.

Anymore disaster ideas?

None of those are technically possible, or advised. Terrain deform in game was not something which the engine handles, and the water levels are locked how they're saved in the CS. The functions which existed in morrowind are no longer present. Any significant change to the world would require a seperate worldspace to be setup, and that is a rather huge task as far as any of the vanilla spaces are concerned.

how about fire?
an area is covered in blazes and then all the trees there are replaced with the burned ones from kvatch.

or possibly a tornado.
it would take some doing but the right modder could make a believable tornado that rips up trees, rocks and buildings.

the aftereffects of both of these would require new cells to be created, and then made to only appear after the event, but they don't involve changing water levels or terrain deformation, so they have to be more possible than the earlier suggestions.

I might be wrong but you might be able to make a quick quest were there is a food shortage but I dont think you could make the water levels go down instead you might be able to make creatures and plants disapper or be found dead. You might (if you choose them to be dead) make plants flat on the ground and look dead or take away the ingredents there is a mod that actually takes away the ingredents I would give you a link but I cant find it

Maybe create a quest for an area in the middle of nowhere. There is an expedition crew looking for a wind atronarch, but seeing how its a very ancient creature, angering it stirs up tornados, tossing rocks and stray lumbers randomly.
There could also be a guild that is something like an archaeologist but more deadly encounters...

Note that ancient atronarchs should be twice as big, with a huge AOE attack.

there can also be other atronarch elements in other environments (volcanoes, ocean, and storm [lightning])

Note that wind atronarch's wind attacks does not directly do damage, it forces props to damage or insta-kill you if you aren't lucky...

I dont know why no one uses it any more but you could make it a (if you are going to use wind) Wind Monarch and make it 2x bigger or you could make it an Ancient Wind Monarch and make it 2.5x bigger or 2.3x bigger. I really like your idea
