i have reinstalled the game because Qarl's texture pack rly messed it up, so now i have the game with the latest official patch and the latest obmm with only QTP installed, so its not any other mods causing the problem. What it does is all the menus at the start of the game are super blurry including the cursor and in game all the textures are blurry also heres what it looks like.

those pic were all taken on ultra high graphics...and look like crap as u can see. any ideas? i followed the install how its supposed to be and only thing installed is obmm and QTP.

First question: have you uninstalled something?
second question: Can your machine deal with ultra high graphics?
PaleBoy
all i did was uninstall the game and reinstall it with no mods, only QTP and the latest official patch. and yes it can handle it, i had it running on that smoothly before i tried using QTP.

EDIT: ok i uninstalled and reinstalled again and played with just the retail, no mods nothing and the problem is still there...so now im even more confused. im trying a 3rd time and deleted all traces of oblivion from my comp in the hopes that will help.
PaleBoy
nope..still got that problem, so wierd

It is because the uninstall don't remove the files mods placed in the /data structure folder. Not only this, but it don't recreate the Oblivion.ini in C:\Mydocuments\.....\Oblivion if it finds one already there.
So, to reinstall correctly you need remove that \oblivion folder and the one in c:\my documents\.....
Better saying ... uninstall the game ... remove the remaining folders and so install again.

And only so, reinstall the mods.
There is a way to preserve this /data when the problem is the game itself, like when patching it... but in your case the better is just completely cleaning all folders.
PaleBoy
thats what i did, i deleted the folder on the c drive after uninstalling and then the one in my documents to, and i still have that problem, i still have the folder on my desktop with my mods and my save games but i deleted the BSA's out of it and changed the name so its not "data" or "saves". could that be it?

You got me confused now ... The game will not care about your desktop unless you installed it there. But if your deleted BSA from the game install directory you have a big problem for sure, since all standard files goes there (minus the patch).
Don't return that mods from the /data directly, reinstall the mods
Else you will bring again whatever was the problem.
PaleBoy
yea i only kept it so i could have a list of the mods i have and redownload them. i copied the data folder before i uninstalled the first time, then deleted the BSA's out of it. then i deleted the folder in my documents and the whole oblivion folder on the c drive after i had uninstalled it so there were no traces of it left on the c drive. yet when i reinstalled the problem was still there.

have you used the uninstall/install from de DVD? the one in the HD is reported to fail sometimes. That from the DVD seems to clean the Register too.
PaleBoy
yea i uninstalled it from the menu that comes up when u put in the cd

The problem occurs even before installing any mod? if not, maybe the problem is just you need do the official patching before using most of then.
one last thing ... cancel that menu... open the DVD and select setup.
PaleBoy
yea i install the game and run it purely retail, no mods or updates and the problem is there. its almost like the cd is messed up but it was working just fine yesterday till i added QTP and natural environments this morning.

Are you using Vista?
if so try installing away from the default directory... Better saying, don't install in the c:\Program files.....
and as soon you can get rid of the UAC thing.

If the game is not seeing something of the old install and yet don't works and you aren't using Vista, I don't know what I can say to help anymore.
PaleBoy
yea im using xp, with no traces of Oblivion on the computer when i install. this is quite a perplexing problem lol
maafiaman
From what I see...this is just the texture setting from "Video Settings". I think that you are using the "small" textures setting. Try setting it to "Large" textures setting. That should fix this.

P.S. I don't know if this is right. If you have the "large" setting try changing it to "small" biggrin.gif

yea i do, i play it with no mods on ultra high with large textures and all those goodies and it looks like that. Its on the main menu of the game too, all the pics and the cursor are blurry, u cant even tell the cursor is an arrow anymore.

edit: it even crashes if i minimize it and open it again. i guess its the cd is messed up or something, even tho it ran perfect till those mods.
